co sleeping it is

I tried laying her down 3 times last night before finally giving up. There was no way she would stay asleep without being against me. Scott took her briefly so I could brush my teeth and then into bed by 10:30 Adia and I went. She slept until 1:30. Then drank 3 ounces and was back out until 4. At 4 she only woke up long enough to wake us, but I managed to get her back to sleep. She up for the day at 6 though. I got some sleep, but not a ton. I couldn't move or shift without risking waking her. Then every time she moved, I'd wake. There's a reason we don't co sleep anymore.

After getting up at 6, Adia played in the jumperoo for a long time. I could hear her usual grunting noises and wasn't looking forward to the present in her diaper. However, there was no blowout today. In fact, it looked very much like adult human poop. It seems that pears don't upset her tummy, they may actually constipate her a bit. I put her in a cloth dipe after the change and stripped her to get ready for breakfast. The second I set her in the high chair though, she started screaming. She was grabbing her lower gums and screaming at the top of her lungs. Obviously breakfast was out and maybe even our walk. I gave her Tylenol, orajel and a bottle. She was out. Keep in mind she's still just in a diaper so I wrapped her in a soft fuzzy blanket too. She slept for over 2.5 hours. I got a 45 minute nap. She woke, crying, a few times, but went back to sleep. She woke up disoriented, but happy.

After a diaper change (she was soaked!), my friend and her husband came over for a visit. They haven't seen Adia in at least 3 months. We talked for awhile and played with Adia. Then we all headed to Toys R Us. Adia got some new clothes, a Christmas Sing Along CD, more little mermaid sippy cups and a new toy. She really seemed to be enjoying herself until she got hungry. After Toys R Us, we headed to the mall. Adia got a new shirt and ate while in the bijorn. Then Scott and I went to lunch. Adia was in a happy, silly mood. She kept sticking her tongue our and blowing bubbles at people.

She did start to have a meltdown before we were done eating though. She was getting really tired. She snuggled up on the way out to the car and fell asleep in the car seat on the way home. She didn't wake up when I got her out of the car seat either. We got in the house and I thought I might be able to lay her down in her crib. The first attempt ended in open eyes and a whimper. I picked her back up and she fell right back to sleep. She hasn't wanted to lay flat lately. I grabbed her boppy and set it in her crib. Then I laid her down and she stayed asleep. I turned on her lullaby cd just in case. My only worry was I didn't get a chance to change her diaper before her nap. She had to have been pretty wet when I laid her down. She woke up after 30 minutes, crying and confused. I changed her diaper and she was soaked. She cried through the diaper change and just when I'd fastened the clean diaper she peed, soaking it and the towel she was laying on. She then cried through the next change as well.

Once I picked her up, she was happy. I took her back to the living room and lunged for her toys. She didn't have much playtime today so she was desperate. She spent the next hour and a half playing with her toys. Scott played with her while I made dinner. Of course Adia had too poop at that moment. It's amazing how one extra serving of solids will completely change what comes out. The more adult like poop is much easier in cloth though. It's easy to dump it in the toilet and you don't have to work so hard to get it off.

Despite the poopy diaper, it was still dinner time. We got ourselves cleaned up and ate. Adia finished off her oatmeal, pears and sweet potatoes. She opened her mouth every time and didn't gag on the pears at all. She only got fussy after she finished. I cleaned her hands and face and then Scott held her. While he was holding her, I gave her some fluoride. It was the first time she had it and she fought it at first. Once she tasted it she didn't mind it. She looked really surprised to discover it wasn't cherry flavored Tylenol.

On the way to the bathroom she started crying again. Scott put her in the bebpod, but it didn't matter. She was grabbing her lower gums and saying, "mamamama." I picked her up and she quieted. I thought it would be better to give her Tylenol then than after her bath. She gagged when I gave it to her and did not look happy. She stopped crying though. She was a cutie in the bath. She sat and played with her toys. Then I laid her back to wash her hair and under her chin. When I sat her back up, she wanted out. She reached for the side of the tub to pull herself up, but she slid instead and hit her forehead. I quickly grabbed her and surprisingly she didn't cry.

We got her dried and dressed. When Scott handed her to me, she had her tongue sticking out with a giant grin on her face. It was one of those expressions that makes everything wonderful. She snuggled up, drank 3 ounces and fell asleep. I'm thinking about laying her down, but I'm also a little scared to try. I think I'll give it a few tries and if I don't succeed, she'll be co sleeping again tonight.

I hope Adia sleeps better for you tonight! Have you tried finding a different flavor of tylenol or trying some motrin? We've got several bottles open at the moment, we have grape tylenol, cherry tylenol, and wild berry motrin. I guess Sabrina gets quite the variety and she loves them all!

I'm glad Adia ate good tonight too! Sabrina had almost an identical dinner!
