Fun Day

Our day started a little rocky. I wasn't feeling well so Scott took Adia into the living room to let me sleep. It was ok at first, but Adia woke me up at 9:30, screaming bloody murder. She's got a big mommy fixation going on. I got up then and Adia was happy until Scott went to bed. She pounded on his door for a little bit before having a total freak out. She ended up falling asleep in my arms for 2 hours. When she woke up, we ate some breakfast and took a shower. Adia took out all the towels under the sink. By then Scott was up too.

Adia was ready to play. We got her dressed, put on some shoes and a sweatshirt and off we went. When Scott opened the door, Adia squinted because it was so bright. He grabbed her sunglasses and she was actually happy to wear them. She kept them on for the longest time.

We decided to go to lunch. We haven't been out in a while. Adia happily sat in a high chair and ate all the foods I brought with us. The waiter gave her a fruit bowl. We ate the oranges out of it and attempted to feed her watermelon and honeydew. She put some honeydew in her mouth, but didn't like the taste. She ate a small piece of watermelon, but wasn't a huge fan of it either. It's probably a good thing she didn't devour it because when we got home I noticed hives on her chin and her eczema had a huge flare up. Her legs had several severe patches and it had suddenly appeared on her cheek, upper back and chest. I guess we have another food she can't eat. We discovered she likes iced tea though. She drank some out of my straw and wanted more. I poured a little into her sippy and she went to town. She's doing well with the new sippy cups. She knows how to hold them and tip back enough to drink. I think we've found a sippy that she may actually drink milk out of eventually.

Adia started to have a meltdown right before the bill came. I took her into the closed in lobby and she wandered around. She kept trying to open the doors and made faces at herself in the glass.

After Scott paid we headed over to Borders. Adia was going crazy running around the children's book area. She couldn't decide what book she wanted. She grabbed one about otters and yelled, "Cool!" when she picked it up. She soon dropped that one for a Barbie book with it's own PDA. We ended up getting her "Pickles to Pittsburgh" since it's a sequel to "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs". She didn't seem to mind.

We knew she'd want to run around so we made our way to the courtyard. Adia became enthralled and slightly scared of the fountain. Her curiosity got the best of her and with me behind her, she got close enough to feel the water.

In order to get her to the grass, we had to pick her up. She wanted down immediately, but was willing her hold hands. Up the steps and into the grass. She started running like crazy until she saw another little girl. She started chasing her, but when the little girl became curious, Adia made her way to Scott. She's always curious, but cautious.

We had ice cream and then headed back the way we came. Adia saw a little boy in the ice cream parlor and made smiled at him. That freaked him out. She has a thing for older boys. When we headed back, Adia saw that little boy outside and may a beeline for him. I had to redirect her since he looked alarmed. She was happy to see the fountain again though.

Then it was back through the shopping center. Adia got sidetracked by a stuffed dog in the window. When she first saw it she said, "Oooh!" and got really excited. She kept bumping her head on the grass in order to get to it.

We were soon back in the car after a brief meltdown in Borders. She was silly on the ride home, despite not wanting me to strap her in.

Not long after we got home, Gamma dropped by. Adia was excited to see her, especially since she brought her a new fun book. Scott read it to her several times. After she left, Adia wanted dinner. She ate quite a bit and I gave her Benadryl in hopes of getting rid of her rash. She did well with the sippy at dinner and looked like she was going to fall asleep in her chair while drinking. She tried to escape the tub, midbath. It's kind of scary that she can get her whole leg out now. Scott got her out, dressed her and she immediately wanted a bottle. She's been out since 8:30, up once to be burped and then fell asleep, on her own, in her bed.

Sorry it's been almost a week since post. Can I claim sickness and a sick baby? That's right, we're both sick. I'm losing my voice and my sinuses are killing me. Adia's been running a 101 degree fever since last night. She woke up on fire around 5:30am. I took her temp, made her a bottle and gave her Tylenol. We slept until 8, but we were both feeling icky. We took a bath together, which was tons of fun, but she refused to take a good nap. We've been dosing Tylenol all day. On Friday Adia barfed 8oz and all of her dinner on me. Not fun for either of us, but DiDi started the laundry while Adia and I took another shower.

Adia had a blast with DiDi and Tanae for the rest of the week. They're just so sweet playing together. DiDi bought a new Little School Bus for her house. It was a big hit with the girls. It was the only toy they wanted to play with and they're still working on the whole sharing thing.

We came back home Friday evening. DiDi spent the night and left Saturday afternoon. We picked up Adia's portraits and went grocery shopping. Adia was a little confused when she woke up from her nap and DiDi wasn't here anymore. DiDi told me this morning that she waited for her daily wake up call from Adia, "DiDi, UP!" and a big hug, but it didn't happen. It took her a little bit to remember we weren't in the same house anymore. Adia was looking for her too.

Adia was very happy to see Scott when he woke up this morning. She followed him around and played with him. After dinner she stole his phone. I'd say, "Hello? Hello?" and she'd hold up to her ear and say, "Hi!" It was the cutest thing ever. Scott also had her laughing. She'd would stuff her pig through a hole in a box and he'd pop it back out or grab her hand. She thought it was the funniest thing ever. She was happy to see Gampa when he dropped by for a few minutes tonight too.

Hopefully she'll stay asleep soon. I'm exhausted and have been in several times to get her back to sleep. I guess she just doesn't feel well tonight.

The Day After Easter

Tanae came back to play on Monday. Adia was so happy to see her again. They did their usual hug and thunk, Adia ending up on the bottom and crying. I feel so bad for them when that happens because I know they don't want to hurt each other. After breakfast, Tanae and Adia took turns in the shower. I washed Tanae's hair first, screaming the entire time. Then it was Adia's turn, followed by screaming and then giggling. Why do kids hate to get their hair washed? I know I was the same way, but why?

After shower time, we headed to the store. Tanae and Adia sat in the car cart. They loved it at first. They each got a couple new toys. They were perfectly happy until we paused to actually grab some groceries. Adia started to get cranky first and Tanae only complained when I took Adia out of the car. I guess it's not as fun with only one passenger.

Notice who has their hands on both wheels

Adia was more than ready for a nap when we got back. She fell right to sleep and slept for 2 hours. While she slept, Tanae got some two on one time with DiDi and me. We ate some lunch and made chocolate pudding. Adia can actually eat pudding so we've been making her some out of whole milk. We thought Tanae would enjoy it too. She most certainly did!

Adia and Tanae played a little bit more after Adia woke up, but soon Scott arrived. Adia covered him in kisses and Tanae gave him lots of hugs. He shaved his head so I was very surprised Adia even recognized him. We were soon headed back to Gamma and Gampa's house and Tanae went down for a long nap.

Sadly, no more pictures after the ones with Tanae. My camera batteries died and I don't have the ones Gampa took. I should get them this week. I also have more batteries now AND my charger. I can't believe I forgot to bring them with me in the first place.

There are a few things have happened in the last couple days:

1. Even though Adia loves mandarin oranges, they do NOT like her. It's another food on the do not eat list. She woke up screaming bloody murder the first morning after eating them, followed by a nasty diaper. The second morning, more screaming bloody murder and severe diarrhea. The diarrhea badly burned her, so now she's back to a horrible diaper rash.

2. Her verbal skills have increased even more. I think I've lost count of all the words she can understand and say. Honestly, I think she understands every single thing we say. Today she was walking up to the cat, getting face to face with it and saying, "Hi Kitty!" She kept doing it over and over again. Then there's also, "ok", "Yeah it does", "Nay" (for Tanae) and more.

3. The triage nurse knows us by name. Yep, I've had to call the triage nurse at Adia's doctor's office that many times lately. We went almost a whole year without ever needing to call and now it's like we live there. She gave me a few more ideas for her diaper rash if the anti-fungal and A&D ointment didn't work. She also told me if she keeps having diarrhea, I can give her culturelle. I don't think I've seen a normal poopy from Adia since the cheerios.

4. Scott used to always mention how one of Adia's eyes seemed to wander when she looked up. I never saw it happen and attributed it to the whole learning to focus thing. Well, it's become much more noticeable, in fact, every time she looks more than a few feet in front of her, her right eye drifts away. It's freaky to watch. She now has a doctor's appointment for 4/3 to get it checked out. Hopefully they can do something because I think it bothers her too.

Easter

We started the day bright and early at DiDi's house. Tanae was still with us so Adia and Tanae had fun eating breakfast together and playing. When Adia went down for her morning nap, Tanae's mom picked up Tanae. Adia took a good nap and was greeted by her giant Easter basket when she woke up. Every year DiDi uses something useful for my Easter basket. This year it was a giant laundry basket. It was something we definitely needed and Adia loved. She normally pushes ours around the house. Adia got lots of cool things (and so did I!). She started the day off in one outfit, but she soon changed into her new polka dot dress. She looked adorable and it was time to head out to Gamma and Gampa's house.

Adia was excited to see Gamma, Gampa, Unky Eck and Auntie Colie. She had fun playing with them and exploring the house. She also became obsessed with the cat again.

She had another clothing change so she could wear her Easter dress. She bounced around in it for a little while, playing peek-a-boo with the skirt. She even attempted to play peek-a-boo with Eck while sitting on his head.

Kitty!

It was then time to eat. I was worried she'd ruin her dress so it was another clothing change. This time it was a pink onesie and polka dot pants. She also wore them to take apart her Easter basket from Gamma and Gampa. She got some pretty cool books and lots of bubbles! She was fascinated by the bubbles. I don't think she's ever seen them before. At first she was a little scared, but soon attempted to blow them herself. She wasn't successful, but maybe we'll have better luck outside, at home.

Adia started to get tuckered out and very cuddly. She snuggled up with DiDi on the couch and was perfectly happy. We didn't last much longer because it was almost bedtime for her.

Day Before Easter

We drove back to the coast yesterday. Adia slept the whole way back and was refreshed, but starving. I didn't know exactly what to feed her, but discovered she loves mandarin oranges. I've never seen her gobble something up so fast. She also ate a bunch of cheese and puffins. She hadn't had a bottle at all, but also wouldn't drink any milk. She does like to drink out of a straw though. I bought her a little blue bunny with a straw top that she loves. She gets excited to drink out of it, but I'm betting won't drink milk out of it.

After eating, we went picked up Tanae and went out to Gamma and Gampa's house. Adia was excited to see her Aunt and Unky too. Adia and Tanae are great playing together. Adia was happy to be able to run after Tanae. They haven't seen each other since Adia started walking. They would chase each other around, try to hug and fall flat. Adia cried a few times, but after a few hugs from me, went back to chasing and playing. Surprisingly, they're both pretty good a sharing too. Sometimes there are disagreements, but it's gotten much better. I think it helps that Adia can fight back too.

Gamma read Adia a book. Auntie Colie shared yummy strawberry ice cream. Gampa made bbq hamburgers which Tanae thought were yummy, but Adia wasn't into. She normally loves them. Instead, all she wanted were mandarin oranges and tater tots. After dinner it was egg dying time. Adia was getting tired and cranky since it always already after 7 and she's normally in the tub by then. She hung out with Unky Eck and then Gamma while Tanae and I attempted to dye eggs. We ended up with blue and green fingers, but Tanae loved it.

Eventually Adia got super cranky and we couldn't stay any longer. By that time Tanae was tired too. They both fell asleep in the car on the way back. They woke up when we took them out and it was bath time for both. Adia loved having a bath time buddy. Tanae enjoyed it too. Adia didn't even mind when Tanae poured water on her. Tanae kept filling her bucket with water and Adia kept using a measuring cup to empty it.

After bath time, Adia drank 8oz and passed right out. I was hoping for a good night, but she kept waking up. She woke up a little before 7, screaming bloody murder. It was the same scream from when she got her blood drawn. Nothing I did could make her stop. It was awful. Of course it also woke up Tanae. Eventually she stopped screaming and guzzled 8oz while I changed her diaper. Good thing I changed her too since she promptly pooped. It was one nasty poop too. Apparently she doesn't chew the oranges before eating them so it was mostly oranges. It didn't cause her diaper rash to get worse though and I'm happy about that.

Adia and Tanae were happy to see each other this morning too. They ate breakfast together, but were both being finicky eaters. Adia ate her toast and some more oranges, but no cheese. We took a shower and Adia quickly went down for a nap. Tanae kept asking for Adia and then it turned into asking for her mommy. Tanae's mommy picked her up. When Adia wakes up, we're headed back to Gamma and Gampa's house for Easter dinner and fun.

Adia's play"date"

Adia and I met up with my friend, her husband and their almost 2.5 year old son,"C-man", today. We haven't seen them in ages and we were curious to see how Adia and C-man would react to each other. They picked us up and we hung out out their place. It took a few minutes for Adia to get used to the whole situation, new house, new people, new kid. She quickly opened up and started babbling and playing. She kept trying to get C-man's attention. She eventually got him to play, but it mostly consisted of stealing toys from each other.

They happen to have a bouncing horse that C-man loves. We wanted to get a couple pictures of Adia on it and she loved it too. We had to keep a hand on her since she's too small for it, but she immediately started riding, bouncing and pulling on the reigns. We may have a cowgirl on our hands.

We had proof that Adia had finally relaxed when she tried to give C-man kisses. He was confused at first until it turned into a mutual kiss. Adia's a little aggressive with the whole kissy thing. And they ended up kissing, on the lips, a few times. My little girl's had her first kiss, at the ripe old age of 1! She likes those older men.

It was soon time to leave and they drove us home. Adia hadn't had a nap today and was exhausted. Within a few minutes she was out cold. I'm hoping she'll still sleep tonight, but there was no way to keep her awake.
