Heather's bridal shower was on Monday so DiDi picked us up Sunday afternoon. Adia kept asking for Nae, so on our way back to Florence, we picked her up too. They were so happy to see each other. They held hands in the car, big grins on their faces. Heather said that all Tanae had been doing was wandering around the house, calling, "Ada?" Adia had been the same way. She's been walking around saying, "Nae? Where Nae? We find Nae!" They both have one track minds.

We spent Monday morning at the park and then picked up items for the bridal shower. Both girls went down for naps at the same time, which was nice. They were both pretty cranky. Adia wakes Tanae up way too early every morning and Tanae needs lots of sleep. They were both well rested when we headed to the bridal shower. Adia actually wanted Heather to hold her, which is a very new development. Adia did well since she can't eat the pizza or cake. I brought food for her and M&Ms while everyone else ate cake.

Both girls desperately needed baths when we got back. Adia's face was covered in chocolate. They splished and splashed before crashing early for the night.

Adia woke up in the middle of the night and screamed for a hour. She's teething and sick. She was coughing like crazy and you could tell she felt awful. She kept crying, "Owwie, Mommy, owwie!" DiDi ended up taking her because I couldn't get her back to sleep. DiDi got her back to sleep and they slept on the couch for several hours. She gave me Adia back around 5am and Adia snuggled up and went right back to sleep.

We went to the park in the morning. Both girls were high energy and crazy. Adia was climbing all over everything and went down the slide several times, with Tanae right in front of her.

After they were finished at the park, we came back to DiDi's for lunch. Adia climbed right into her chair, hinting that she was hungry. DiDi turned her back to cut up some food and when she turned around, Adia was sitting on the table. Adia has certainly turned into a monkey lately.

Once lunch was over, we climbed in the car to head to Eugene. DiDi was supposed to be taking Adia and I back, but when we arrived, Scott was super sick. After making him chicken noodle soup, we got back in the car and headed back to Florence.

When we got home, Adia went right in the tub. Tanae refused to get in though because she was too worried about DiDi. While I was getting the girls ready for the tub, DiDi closed her finger in the door. She got blood everywhere and thoroughly scared Tanae. Adia was oblivious, however. Tanae just kept asking her, "You ok?" Once the bleeding stopped we were able to convince her everything was fine, but she still didn't want in the tub. Since I only had one kid in the tub, I was able to use the cradle cap goo on Adia. It makes her really greasy so I spent the time after her bath scrubbing her head with a nail brush. I managed to get almost all the cradle cap off her head and she didn't complain. I then washed her hair in the sink to get rid of the oily mess.

Last night Adia spiked a fever too. I'm glad I bought an ear thermometer. It read 100.9. Since she was asleep, I didn't want to wake her to give her Tylenol. I did give her Tylenol when she finally woke up at 8:30! Now both girls are pretty crazy. We need to head to the park.

After walking to dinner last night, Unky Eck took us for ice cream. I think Adia's been ice creamed out because she wasn't that interested in hers. I don't blame her though, cotton candy ice cream is pretty nasty. She did like M&Ms in it though. Afterwards we wandered around Oakway a little bit. Adia blew kisses and checked out the fountain. She really likes water.

She was up late last night and early this morning. After breakfast we went for a walk. Adia was sportin her new striped pants, which I love. She ended up taking off one of her slippers and handing it to me. Luckily she doesn't chuck things out of the stroller. She just casually holds them to the side until you take them from her. She only managed to remove one after trying for half a hour to remove the other one.

We left the house at 9:30, but that's apparently too late in the summer. By the time we got back to the house, I was boiling. I guess we'll have to do our walks even earlier for the meantime. I'm fine with that. It's just hard to get Adia fed before we go.

Now Gamma's here and she's taking us out to lunch. Adia hasn't napped today. I thought she was going to fall asleep about a hour ago, but she fought it. We recently discovered that she can scale baby gates and climb in the tub. She has attempted to do both again today. She's also becoming really good at telling us she needs a diaper change. Today she even grabbed me a diaper and laid down where I asked her too. One problem though, she wants to wipe herself. That's not always the best thing when she's poopy.

I do like how she helps with the laundry now. She put all her dirty laundry in the hamper today and then helped me load the wet laundry into the dryer. She even closes the dryer door. Now, if only I could convince her to help fold the laundry instead of unfolding it all. Or maybe she can learn to put it away?

We stayed in Florence until Wednesday. Scott and I stayed at the casino by ourselves while Adia stayed with DiDi and Tanae. She wasn't so happy to have us leave her the second time. DiDi said she cried for a long time until Tanae gave her a big hug, told her it was ok and patted her back. After that she was pretty much ok. She woke up once in the night, crying mama, but because DiDi never spoke, she didn't know DiDi wasn't me. DiDi's sneaky like that.

On Wednesday we went to the park with all four girls. Heather had stopped by to pick up Tanae and we wanted to take her to the park first. Adia was a little overwhelmed by so many kids, but was happy to still have Tanae. Adia is getting so much better at going down the slide by herself. I think she's really starting to actually enjoy it.

When we got back to DiDi's house, Scott, Adia and I went out to Gamma and Gampa's house. Adia was asleep when we got there, but Gamma was very happy to hold a sleeping baby. When Adia finally woke up, she was very happy to see her grandparents. She immediately climbed in the tub for Gampa to push her around. Gampa tried, but he woke up with a hurting back.

We went out to dinner and Adia wasn't happy to leave Gampa at home. He was starting to get really sick and wasn't up to joining us. When we left, Adia said, "Bye Grampa." It was so sweet. She was also blowing him kisses.

Adia started to lose it in the restaurant. After Scott finished eating, she let me hold her and we managed to get her to finish eating too. She loved her french fries and used a fork to eat her burger. Adia loved ice cream so I thought we should go get ice cream in Old Town. Adia didn't want to sit in my lap, but she did want to sit in DiDi's lap. She happily ate her chocolate chip ice cream with a little help from both grandmas. She even used a napkin to wipe her face after Scott commented that she had ice cream on it.

Afterwards I wanted to get another family picture by the anchor. It was way too windy out and Adia wasn't in the mood to cooperate at all. She did like the underwater mural though.

We're now back in Eugene. We went grocery shopping and to the mall yesterday. I bought a baby shampoo that's supposed to help with Adia's bad cradle cap. I hope it works because her entire scalp is covered in yellow crusty patches. She spent this morning with Scott while I tried to get some extra sleep because I'm sick. I'm now wondering if Adia's getting sick too because in the middle of playing, she laid down and fell asleep. I moved her to her bed and she's still asleep. That's very un-Adia like behavior. She did just eat lunch and drank milk.

Her new favorite food, besides ice cream and m&ms, has to be cream cheese. She had some yesterday on toast and she licked it all off. Today I put it on crackers and she licked it off the cracker.

Aquarium

After eating brunch at The Adobe, we went outside to the beach. Adia smiled and pointed at the ocean. I handed her to Scott because I was worried I'd drop her on the rocks. It was a good thing I did because I fell, skinned both knees, twisted my ankle and really bruised myself. Luckily, I wasn't holding Adia and I didn't smash the camera. Adia loved the rocky sand. She'd look through all the pieces, specifically looking for any pretty colored pieces.

After we were done freezing in the wind, we headed back to the room to wait for DiDi and Tanae. Adia threw a fit because she didn't want to leave the sand. Adia climbed in the bed with me and we had a tickle fight. She started to close her eyes and was soon fast asleep. About 30 minutes later, Tanae and DiDi arrived. Adia stayed asleep for a little longer, but woke when she heard Tanae's voice. She was so happy to see them.

We were soon off to the aquarium. Neither of them were happy to be in the car. DiDi bought a Subway kid's meal for Tanae and they shared the apple slices with Adia. Normally that would be ok, but Adia choked on a piece of apple peel and puked. I cought it all in my hand and luckily it was only mucus and apple. It didn't really smell like vomit or the car would have been bad after several hours in the sun.

We arrived at the aquarium and immediately hit up the otters. The girls weren't too interested in them so it was off to the seals. Adia was squealing in delight, face pressed against the glass. Tanae was a little more hesitant. I think she was afraid she'd fall in, but Adia encouraged her by saying, "Nae, come on!"

We bypassed the birds and went to the sharks and deep water. You walk through a glass tube and there are fish all around you. The girls were thoroughly confused by the fish above and below them. Tanae liked walking on the glass more than Adia did.

We stopped at the play area on our way into the indoor exhibits. There were a ton of kids there so we didn't stop long.

It was on to Oddwater, an exhibit full of odd and interesting creatures. There was a tank where you could crawl through a tunnel, stand up and be in the middle of the tank. Scott crawled in with the girls and held them both up to look around. They thought it was awesome.

We then headed to the jellyfish and the touch pool. Tanae touched a sea star, but Adia just wanted to climb in. After hitting up the gift shop, we drove back to The Adobe to swim. Both girls fell asleep in the car though, but Adia woke up the second I got her inside.

We changed into swimming suits and headed towards the pool. I bought Adia a smaller Ariel swimming suit since her 18 month one is too big. Adia climbed right into the pool, but Tanae wasn't so sure of the water. That soon changed and we were all in the kiddie pool. We had a big fight over the hippo that left Adia underwater, but after that it was lots of fun.

Everyone was hungry when we got back from the pool. We ordered room service when we got back. The girls had fun lounging in the bed, eating at the table and being silly in the mirror. When it was time for DiDi and Tanae to leave, Adia did not want to be left behind. I packed up her stuff and let her go with them. She only cried for a second in the car before falling asleep and forgetting all about us.

Scott and I enjoyed the sunset and felt strange without Adia. We did enjoy eating breakfast without a screaming baby though.

When we saw Adia the next morning, she didn't really care that we were back. Tanae did though. She gave me a million hugs and hung all over me.

The Adobe

Scott arrived at lunchtime and after eating, we headed to the store to buy snacks for Adia. We then jumped in the car to head to Yachats. Adia screamed the first 10 minutes and then fell asleep. DiDi told me that Tanae started crying and kept saying, "Ada went bye bye." How horribly sad, but she'll see us again tomorrow when we go to the aquarium.

After checking into our room, we changed into swimming suits. Adia wasn't happy to be wearing a swimming suit, but she did like the closet. She would climb in, close the doors, giggle and then open them again. Then she'd spend time staring at herself in the mirror. And to think, I was worried I hadn't brought enough toys to play with.

We headed down to the pool. Adia chased me the whole way, laughing and squealing. She was excited even though she had no idea what she was getting into. We took a short shower before sitting down in the kiddie pool. It was warm and felt a lot like one of her baths. She was instantly happy. Our one problem though was the water was too deep for her to sit. She got a little confused because she's supposed to sit in the tub, but stand in the pool. She soon figured it out and was splashing and kicking. She's really a fish. She went under a couple times, but after quickly picking her back up, she was giggling again. I know she'll want to swim again tomorrow too.

We ran back to our room afterwards. Adia ran the first part, but started shivering so I carried her the rest of the way. After a quick shower, we got dressed again and headed to dinner. I knew Adia was hungry and thought she'd be good to eat. I was wrong. Withing a few minutes after ordering, Adia threw a fit. Scott took her into the lobby to calm her down and even asked her if she was hungry and going to behave. She told him yes, but the second he brought her back, she freaked out again. I took her this time and when I came back, her food was there. She was definitely starving because she started eating immediately. I was able to finish my food before she threw another fit. Scott paid, wrapped up the rest of the food and met us in the lobby.

We walked back to the room and Adia snacked a little more before Scott gave her a bath. Then it was more playtime with Mommy and Daddy before she started to get sleepy. She's really becoming a little girl. I laid down with her in bed and she cuddled for a little bit before giving me a kiss and rolling over. She then fell asleep on her own. She doesn't seem to need me to go to sleep anymore. She wants the cuddles and kisses before bed, but she can fall asleep without me now. It's kind of bittersweet, but I'm glad she's finally there.

eating ice cream before dinner
We went back to Eugene on Tuesday to spend some time with Scott. We went out to lunch, where Adia gobbled up a cheese quesadilla and then for ice cream and a little shopping. Adia had fun playing with Scott and eating ice cream. I think she's getting a little sick of strawberry ice cream though. Adia picked out some new books and some clothes before heading home. She actually picked an outfit that matched perfectly with no help from either of us. She's really becoming the fashionista.

It was really hot in Eugene though and Adia was feeling it. She was bright red and sweating profusely. She doesn't like the heat anymore than I do. She took a cool bath before bed and that helped a little bit, but she ended up sleeping with me and the air conditioner going full blast to keep her cool. Scott decided then and there that it might be a good idea for us to go cool off in Florence until he could join us for our mini vacation.

Wednesday, DiDi and Tanae drove up to pick Adia and I up. Adia was so excited to see them. She missed her Tanae. We made a quick stop at Old Navy and ate more ice cream before coming back to Florence. Adia and Tanae have been going nonstop since we got back. They've eaten meals at their new picnic table. It works pretty well, but sometimes it's hard to get them to stay until they're actually finished.

DiDi also bought a play structure for her living room. The girls absolutely love it. We've had a few accidents, but luckily no serious injuries. It's taken Adia some time to learn the dangerous parts.

Every morning we go to the park down the street. The girls love it, but I'm not sure if they like the wagon aspect of it or the actual park. We never stay long because they want back in the wagon.

Every morning I also do Tanae's hair. She fought it at first. Now she's really good about it. She doesn't like the sitting still part, but she tolerates it now. She wasn't even too bad when I washed her hair yesterday and then combed it. We had to make a deal though, I could do her hair if she could do mine. I can't wait until Adia has enough hair to actually do something with. Her bangs are finally getting long enough that we can think about cutting them, I don't want to cut off her sweet curls in the back.

Scott arrives today and then we're headed up north to stay at The Adobe. I can't wait. We haven't been there in a long time and it's a chance to get Adia in the pool. She's going to really miss Tanae and DiDi though. She'll be back with them on Monday.
