Thanksgiving and Santa

We had a good Thanksgiving. It was weird not having Unky Eck here, but we did have Gramma, Papa, Colie and DiDi. The girls had a blast hanging out with the people they love, but weren't so wild about the food. They did enjoy pumpkin pie though. The twins absolutely loved trying on all of Colie's jewelry. She's going to be in serious trouble when they get older. Leia already steals her shoes.

After dinner, they got to blow out the candles. Mira and Adia had no problems, but Leia kept blowing air up and sending her bangs straight up. She eventually got angry and grabbed the flame. Not her best idea.

I had the girls make turkeys to decorate the house too. It involved painting coffee filters and then cutting their footprints out for the turkey body. They turned out really well. It was the first time the twins have ever painted too. Leia was a natural, which surprised me. She usually doesn't last long at art projects. Mira mostly painted everything black or brown.

Along with potty training, Mira has started playing Uno. We're still working on learning colors, but she understands taking turns and matching characters. She's definitely getting better and has won a few games. I'm sure she'll be playing as well as Adia soon. Adia's an Uno card shark.

Adia has begun writing words. I love when she asks me to spell something for her and she can write all the letters. I know she's supposed to only use caps at the beginning of a word, but honestly, I'd rather she spelled correctly and learning to make all her letters properly first.

Just before Thanksgiving, Mira decided she wanted to start wearing undies like Adia. Within just 2 days, she was in undies full time and has only had a handful of accidents. I'm still shocked at how fast it happened. She's great about remembering to go and generally doesn't need to be reminded.

DiDi bought the girls new winter coats and some new furry boots for Adia. We've been putting them to good use near DiDi's house. A new trail opened up that the girls love to walk. You can see lots of ducks, geese, loons and osprey.

We've been having problems with Leia climbing under the block bucket and have had to rescue her a few times. She gets up and she's visibly disoriented. Definitely scary so we had Papa drill some air holes in it. In true Papa fashion, he had the twins help out. Mira thought it was the coolest thing ever. I see a power drill in her future. Leia wasn't so sure about it, which surprised me. She's normally my tool girl.

We've slowing began decorating for Christmas. The stockings are up and we've put some lights around the french doors. We get the Christmas tree tomorrow with Gramma and Papa. Decorating it will be interesting.

We saw Santa last week too. And actually got an awesome picture.

hello??

Yeah, it's been over a month, but the girls haven't been giving me much time to do anything. After they've gone to bed, I'm just too tired to blog. So, here I am, for the moment. I'm sure I'll be inundated shortly though. They seem to have a sensor for this kind of thing. Leia is obsessed with glasses. She hands me mine every morning and I can tell she really wants a pair of her own. Adia has a play pair that came with her doctor's kit and Leia carries them around. She's always wearing them and acting like a total clown. She gets so mad though because they're too big. They're always falling off her face.
P1280296 P1280287
Adia knew that Halloween was just around the corner so she spent most of the month getting her sisters excited about dressing up and trick or treating. The twins were fairies so I bought them tutus. Adia kept changing her mind, but eventually settled on a witch. Gramma happened to pick up a wonder woman costume at Goodwill since they girls love dress up and it fits them all. They tool turns flying around the house.

They also try to wear some of Adia's dress up clothes, but they're just too big. They end up stepping all over them and the dresses won't stay up.
P1280335 (600x800)
Trying to take them anywhere is a disaster. The twins don't like to stay in the cart and if you buckle them in, they scream or escape. Leia is a houdini.
P1280301
They do have their moments though.

And I have been attacked. They know, they always know.

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch this last weekend. We hoped that by going early in the month, we'd skip the rain and colder weather. We were very very wrong. All week the forecast said 70 and sunny until about 2 days before. We couldn't postpone since it's nearly impossible to get everyone together to go. When Papa went to buy tickets for the hay ride to the patch, we learned it didn't start until the next weekend! Ack! So we ended up walking to the patch in the rain and mud. It will definitely be a trip to remember. The girls really liked the rooster, goats and donkey.

Adia was determined to get a HUGE pumpkin this year. Last year she decided she could only get a pumpkin that she could lift. This year, she let us know that it would be a huge pumpkin and Brad would carry it for her. I'll say she succeeded. That pumpkin is 44lbs! It weighs more than her and takes up half our step at home. I can't wait to carve it.

Mira hates getting dirty and she kept tripping (her boots are too big) so she didn't like the patch very much. Of course if you ask her about it now, she wants to go back. Leia didn't want to walk at the patch either. She'd been asking for Colie for days already so she was more than happy to be packed around by her.

Every year we get cider donuts and I've learned the hard way to bring some gluten free ones. This year I had to get DiDi to grab them, but she made sure to bring enough for all 3 girls and C-man since he can't have peanuts. It worked well, even though the twins were confused. I think it was one of the first donuts they've ever had.

We also had to stand in the rain to get our annual family pic. As usual, we couldn't get everyone to cooperate, but at least Adia did.

After the pumpkin patch, we all went to Elmer's for lunch. The twins were awesome. Leia didn't eat much, but they were all very well behaved.

Welcome September

Adia's been back in preschool for almost 3 weeks now. She's still getting used to it since it's much more strict than the last place. She's still making friends too.

Before school today

The girls got to spend a weekend at DiDi's house. The twins were so excited. They love staying there & I slept 10 hours, straight. That was nice for me too. It's so hard to get a picture of all of them together. You get them next to each other & off they go. You take what you can get.

We've mostly been staying around the house. Adia goes to DiDi's on the weekends and we spend one on one time with the twins.

The twins have just recently become interested in baking with me. Adia doesn't like to share, but she doesn't get a choice. They've got to learn too.

The twins have given up napping & they all the girls go to sleep by 7:30. It sometimes makes for earlier mornings (6:30-7:30), but they all seem more rested. Sometimes they do pass out in the afternoons though. This particular day they were up at 5:45.

Gramma and Papa came up for a couple days and the girls loved havng them here. They were so used to seeing them weekly that it's been tough on them. They ask about them all the time so when they woke up in the morning, went running into the playroom and found gramma & papa still here, they were beyond excited. Papa did a lot of little projects around the house while he was here, including making a cat tree. Adia helped.
P1280067

I brought out the puzzles for the girls a couple weeks ago. The twins really like them at the library so I thought they might like the few we had. I was right. They're getting much better than they were. Scott has been working with Adia to build Legos too.

Adia loves getting her nails painted and is really interested in patterns. She's been telling me to do different ones each time we paint her nails. Today she wanted a rainbow.

I took the girls to get their flu shots this month too. I took Mira & Leia while Adia was at school. Leia went first. She started screaming and Mira looked very alarmed. When it was Mira's turn, I said, "come here Mira." She looked at me like I was crazy and said, "No way!" Once I grabbed her, she started screaming "Let go of me!" The nurse actually laughed. I took Adia the next day. Gramma & Papa watched the twins while I took Adia back. She had a choice over where to get the shot. She picked her arm. She sat in my lap and didn't even flinch when the needle went in. It was over in seconds and she never complained at all. I can't believe how big she is!
