4 month appointment

The twins had their 4 month appointment today. They're growing so quickly. Mira's 13lbs 10.8oz and 23.4in. Leia is 12lbs 13.6oz and 24.5in. So Mira's still about a pound heaver and an inch shorter than her sister. They've pretty much stayed that way their entire lives. Mira also rolled for the first time. As the doctor was checking all the things she normally checks, she put Mira down on her tummy. She was doing push ups and arching and then she went up on her side and over to her back. I was so shocked. Mira's normally a total slug when you do tummy time. She's content to just lay there, eating her hand, but she did it. Leia acted like she was going to, but she got upset before she did. The doctor also gave us a prescription for Zantac for Mira. We're hoping that will stop some of the evening screaming. I swear, Mira would be the perfect baby if it wasn't for that.

When it came time for the shots, it was heartbreaking. We have to always make sure that Leia goes first though. She's super sensitive to her sisters and when they cry, she starts crying too. Mira went first and when Mira started screaming, Leia did her pouty face and started wailing. She had tears before the nurse had even touched her. They were pretty much back to normal before we were even back in the waiting room. They did whimper a few times. They slept most of the afternoon. They both had Tylenol this evening too because they started to run fevers. Now all the girls are asleep.

DiDi and I took the girls to a friend's daughter's birthday party this last weekend. There were tons of kids and Adia was in heaven. She never wanted to leave. When we first walked in, I thought she'd be terrified with all the people and commotion, but she was right at home within minutes. I made her cupcakes and she just licked all the frosting and sprinkles off the top. I had a feeling she'd do that. I didn't make the cupcakes from scratch, they're from a Betty Crocker Gluten Free Yellow Cake mix and I wasn't a fan either. They were crunchy. Betty Crocker just doesn't use rice flour that isn't milled fine enough.

jumperoo

I brought out the jumperoo for the first time tonight. We weren't sure if Mira would be able to touch, but her toes just hit the ground. We ended up putting a pillow under her. Leia's longer so she was able to touch. She actually spun herself all the way around. She especially liked it when Adia was talking to her.

Adia is definitely a 2 year old. She goes from being a sweetie to a full throw down tantrum. It's awful, but she's starting to get a little better. She spent quite a bit of time in time out today, but she'd be all better when she came back out. I guess she just needs time to decompress. During her sweet times, she's the little girl I absolutely love and adore. She can also get me to agree to anything because I want to make her even happier. I just wish she was a sweetie more often. She is always sweet to the guinea pig though. She loves holding PigPig.

However, I think Adia is part cat. She keeps trying to lick us and she's decided laying on the back of the couch is relaxing. I don't mind her being up there if her sisters aren't on the couch, but I do worry she'll knock a picture off the wall.

The kids wore shirts that they got from one of DiDi's friends. I LOVE the moose shirt. I'm surprised I got any good pictures out of them since no one was in a very good mood. Mira had just been fussing and Leia was tired. I only took maybe 3 or 4 pictures before Leia started screaming. (I got pictures of that too.) Mira started smiling and cooing though.

Adia's at DiDi's house tonight and the twins are asleep so I should be heading to bed now. I hope they sleep well tonight because I'm feeling exhausted. I changed Adia's sheets and cleaned her room today and still have laundry to fold, but it will wait until tomorrow.

Mommy's Birthday and Halloween

Adia had been talking about my birthday all month. She desperately wanted to make a cake and blow out the candles. When it actually came time to make the cake, she flaked out on me. I ended up doing it on my own, but she did appear to add sprinkles and then do candles. She even sang "Happy Birthday." It was sweet.

We went back to the coast for Halloween and stayed at Gramma and Papa's house. DiDi stayed with us too. Adia helped Gramma make dinner on Friday night. She had to taste the BBQ sauce as she was stirring and she said she liked it. Then Gramma added onions to the mix and Adia said it tasted yucky. That's my girl. I don't like onions and she didn't like the smell either. It was pretty funny.

In the morning, Adia helped Gramma make breakfast. She helped mix the pancakes and measure ingredients. Gramma also needs reading glasses. She happened to leave them sitting on the counter and Adia picked them up and put them on.

I dressed the girls in their "Halloween" outfits and attempted some pictures. I was glad I took pictures when I did because Mira ended up puking all over herself. She seems to have a problem with spitting up and occasionally puking.

We went out to lunch at A&W, which made Adia very happy. She was incredibly tired though so we thought she was going to fall asleep before we made it back to the house to put on costumes. Somehow she managed to stay awake. The twins were sleeping though. We changed them in the car when we got down to Old Town. Mira was a flower, Leia was a frog and Adia was Tinkerbell.

Adia was so excited to Trick or Treat. She suddenly got shy though when it actually came down to saying "trick or treat" or "thank you." The farther we went, the more tired she got. I eventually had to carry her. When we got back to the car, she only wanted one thing, "A red lolly pop!"

Adia was crazy hyper when we got back to Gramma and Papa's house. The twins were wide awake too and super hungry.

Papa brought out the exersaucer. Leia was already asleep, but Mira enjoyed using it. She could just reach on her tippy toes.

We drove home on Sunday. Adia was happy to be home and spent some time with DiDi.

All this week Gramma has been here. Daddy had surgery on Monday and I needed some extra help. Adia loved having her around, but was really confused as to why Daddy couldn't play like normal. The twins even missed him. He was finally able to hang out and play with them a bit today and Mira's face lit up when she saw him. She is truly daddy's girl.

mostly wordless wednesday

I was hoping to write a Halloween or Birthday blog post, but I'm just too tired. Daddy had surgery on Monday and Gramma's been here to help, but all 3 kids have been out of sorts. Adia and Mira are definitely sick and Leia is quickly following suit. I thought I'd share a couple cute pics from this morning. Hopefully I'll be able to get in a blog post some time soon.
