Adia loves playing outside. Lately it's been, "Play soccer?" She'll definitely be a soccer player when she gets older because she's getting pretty good at controlling the ball. We've had a few great sunny days so she's been able to go outside more. It's a little hard on me because I can only stand for so long and I can't exactly chase her around.

She did find some dandelions. Those were fun. She picked them, all two of them, and wanted me to smell them. Then she smelled them too. That left yellow pollen on her nose.

She was an absolute doll outside and let me take some great pictures. She even wanted to play "hide and seek" around the tree.

Adia was still a goofball at dinner. She really has a great sense of humor.

Unky Eck came back from Italy last week too. Adia was super excited to see him. She acted shy at first around him, but quickly warmed up. She only wanted him to sit with her in the car, when we got ice cream and he was the only one who could hold her too. That made him feel very special. She passed out in the car on the way back to the house and Unky Eck carried her to her bed.

We've been working on letters with Adia lately. She still refuses to count, but she's getting good with the letters. It still makes me laugh when she says, "A B C D O P R S T." She's getting really good at recognizing both upper and lowercase letters. It's surprising me how fast she's absorbing it. At meals we'll look at her Sesame Street placemats, one of which has letters on it. She'll point at the letters she knows and ask me the ones she doesn't.

DiDi visited this last weekend. She brought PigPig with her. Adia was excited to see both of them. Adia helped DiDi fold laundry or should I say, she enjoyed lounging in it while watching TV. Adia loves clean laundry piles.

Adia also loves her PigPig. She held her all by herself and requested leaves to feed her. She was great with her. PigPig quickly ate the "leaves" and then Adia requested carrots. PigPig's not as big of a fan of carrots. She's the first pig I've ever met that didn't devour them. Since PigPig wasn't eating it, Adia ate it instead. Thanks to DiDi and PigPig, Adia actually likes baby carrots now. It works for me!

On Daddy's day off, we went to the mall. Adia got to play and then asked for Orange Julius. We all shared one, but I think Adia drank most of it. I was surprised when she actually shared it. She's normally very possessive of it. We also rode on the escalators. It's one of Adia's favorite things to do at the mall. I laughed so hard this time though because she called them "Funalators!"

We went swimming on Wednesday night, like usual. DiDi didn't come this time since she was still busy rearranging her living room. She bought a play kitchen for the girls to play with at her house and it didn't fit where she thought it would. That resulted in a complete room rearrange. Adia can't wait to play with it this weekend. We did have Gramma and Unky Eck for swimming though. She had a blast with Eck. Daddy and Eck took her down the slide over and over again and out deep in the wave pool. Then Eck chased her around in the baby pool or she towed him around. She loved it. She fell asleep hard in the car and slept through dinner afterward. Luckily, I got her to eat a bunch before swimming. She ate almost an entire can of Dinty Moore stew by herself! She slept all the way home and until 7 this morning with only a brief wake up around 5:30.

Before swimming, Daddy also introduced Adia to the Nintendo Wii. Adia's seemed interested in it so we thought we'd try it. They played Duck Hunt and somehow, Adia got some points. She doesn't quite understand that she has to point the controller at the TV, but she understood pulling the trigger. It really made time fly before we had to leave for swimming.

3 day weekend

It was supposed to be beautiful and sunny on the coast last weekend so Daddy took an extra day off and we drove over. Adia had been begging for the beach and sand and playing with toys at DiDi's house. When I started packing the night before we left, she had a fit that we couldn't leave right then. She even put her shoes and coat on and headed for the door.

Daddy and Adia napped on the car ride over. Daddy brought in the bags and then fell asleep on the couch again. Adia was bouncing off the walls with energy. She was so happy to be back at DiDi's house even though DiDi wasn't there. DiDi happened to be at the store when we got there. Adia searched the house for her and when she couldn't find her, she busied herself with the piggie and lots of toys. When DiDi got there, Adia started running laps. DiDi watched Adia while I took a nap. I had been up since 7 and really dragging. Adia woke me up a couple times, but then they left for the park. I joined them at the park after a little bit. Adia had made a new friend who was a couple years older than her. They were playing in the sand and then they both got on swings. For the first time, Adia actually enjoyed the swings.

She then decided she wanted to climb the big kid equipment. She made it to the top without any problems, got on the slide and down she went. She did it over and over again, but her new friend was too scared to come down the slide. Her new friend soon had to leave and we coaxed Adia back to the little kid play equipment. We spent a long time at the park and Adia really didn't want to leave.

We headed out to Fred Meyer afterward and Daddy was still sleeping. I was hoping we could find Adia some more stretchy cotton pants. We didn't have any luck, but she did get a cute butterfly dress, a green polka dot nightgown, a seahorse shirt and some new sandals. She really likes the new sandals since they're purple, easy to put on and comfortable. I hope she can wear them a while. I probably should have bought a size bigger too.

We came home to find Daddy had just gotten up. We had dinner and Gramma and Papa arrived a little bit later. Adia was already getting tired and wanted to watch Pete's Dragon with DiDi. Daddy, Gramma, Papa and I went to the casino while DiDi and Adia stayed home. DiDi was hoping Adia wouldn't have any problems going to sleep and she didn't. DiDi texted me less than 30 minutes later to tell me that Adia was asleep. We didn't stay out too late and I actually got to sleep without any interruptions. Adia slept with DiDi all night long! Too bad I didn't sleep well though. I just couldn't get comfortable.

Sunday was a beach day for sure. It was hot and sunny. We called Gramma and Papa, and we (Gramma, Papa, DiDi, Daddy, Adia and I) all headed to the beach. Adia couldn't wait to play in the sand. Gramma had even brought new beach toys. It was a bit of a hike to the water, but Adia liked the feel of sand in her toes. She quickly got digging and so did Daddy. He tug deeper and deeper while DiDi and Gramma used the wet sand to make sand castles for Adia's demolishing. She's now called Babyzilla.

Gramma took her to "run on the beach" and DiDi set to work building as fast as she could. When she got back, she quickly stomped on all of DiDi's hard work so Papa took her for a run too.

There was plenty to destroy when she got back since DiDi, Gramma AND Daddy were all busy building. Her face lit up when she saw it all.

Daddy had also continued to dig. His hole was getting deeper and deeper and of course, that's where Adia wanted to sit. She also tried to "help" Daddy dig more. It was up to her chest and when she sat down, she would disappear.

It was soon time to leave because the pregnant lady was getting hungry. Adia, Papa and Gramma all filled in the hole with Daddy still standing in it. Adia thought it was pretty funny that Daddy was so short.

She also found a stick and used to draw in the sand. She even managed to draw an "A"!

Adia was getting tired and when Adia's tired, only Mommy will do. That's a problem when it's a long hike back to the car and Mommy gets winded easily. I was able to carry her on my shoulders without too much of a problem. It was easier than a hip or front carry for sure. She kept laying her head down on mine and we thought for sure she'd fall asleep up there. Luckily, she didn't.

We got back to the car and the grandmas helped desand Adia. She was covered. I later discovered about a cup of sand in each pocket of her coat! We stopped by DiDi's house to grab some food for Adia since I was craving pizza and there's nothing there she could eat. The pizza hit the spot and Adia nearly fell asleep eating. As her head was about to land in her plate, she lazily said, "Mommy, I hold you." She was out in seconds once her head was on my shoulder. We were able to put her back in the car and then in her bed at DiDi's without a peep. She slept for a few more hours after that too! She was adorable when she woke up. She didn't cry for me, she just casually walked out into the living room, all smiles. She was rested and happy.

She asked for some apple before we headed out to Gramma and Papa's house. She didn't want it cut though so DiDi sliced her half the apple and Adia fed piggie the center. She was taking the biggest bites and had juice drooling down her chin.

It was BBQ time at Gramma and Papa's house. We all piled into the car and off we went. Daddy's Aunt and Uncle were there too. It took Adia a minute to warm up to them, but not long. She wanted to play soccer and draw with chalk. Papa made her a special burger and she ate almost the whole thing! I was shocked. We had M&M ice cream bars for dessert and Adia was one happy camper. She didn't make too bad of a mess either. She was soon demanding a Papa bath to get cleaned up. After her bath, she did her naked run before asking to watch Lilo and Stitch. It was hard to convince her to leave, but we were all getting sleepy. When we got back to DiDi's house, Adia was still awake and didn't want to go to bed. I ended up falling asleep next to her on the twin bed. I was actually more asleep on the floor than the bed. It was another rough sleeping night for me and Adia was up with the sun. That was bad and good though because DiDi had to go to work. If Adia had slept in longer, she wouldn't have been able to spend as much time with DiDi.

We were planning on heading to the beach again so after eating breakfast and getting dressed, we headed out to Gramma and Papa's house. Mommy also needed her double chocolate mocha from Dutch Bros. (Don't worry, it was decaf.) Once we got to Gramma and Papa's house, Adia didn't want to leave. She just wanted to play soccer and draw with chalk again. On our way to the beach, Adia fell asleep in the car. That's what early mornings will do to you. We got to the beach and the fog was rolling in and the wind was freezing. We decided that a beach attempt wasn't going to work so we headed to the lake instead. Adia woke up when we got there and was pretty confused. Once she saw the sand, she was good to go though. For some reason, she asked me to take her skirt off though. No idea why, but she spent a good amount of time in just her diaper.

Adia did more sand castle destruction and then had Daddy carry her up the big "mountain." He put her on his shoulders and carried her to the top. It was a pretty high dune too. When they got to the top, he set her down and they ran to the bottom. Surprisingly, she didn't fall. After the run, she wanted pants back though.

Our next stop was Old Town. We decided to get lunch and check out the toy store. Adia was getting tired and cranky again, but she did eat her burger. She was really good in the toy store too. She mostly played with the Thomas the Tank Engine train set while we looked around.

We bought some candy at the candy store before getting back in the car. I don't know how she stayed awake, but she did. We drove back to Gramma and Papa's house and off she went with Papa. They played on the swing out back and she checked out the pond. Then she saw the motorcycle. He let her sit on it and pretend to ride. After they came back in, Papa made a fire so we could make s'mores. Adia ate marshmallows and chocolate. DiDi came after school was out and had a couple s'mores too. Then Adia dragged her outside for more chalk drawing. Papa soon joined them and Adia was all about playing with Papa again.

She didn't want to leave and was especially upset that DiDi wasn't in the same car. It was getting late and we had to drive home. We stopped at DiDi's for a little bit so Adia could eat something, play and relax for a little bit. Adia was ok with leaving. She didn't scream for DiDi this time, but fell asleep almost immediately. She never knew we got home or that I put her in her bed. When she woke up in the morning, she looked around for a minute or two before saying, "My room? My house? My bed?" She was happy to be home, but also missed everyone.

Wordless Wednesday

I was planning a blog post about our wonderful weekend, but I'm just too tired tonight. We went swimming and Adia was up at 6:30 today.

Soo... here's a picture from last night instead:

Easter Weekend: Part 2

Sunday morning, Adia and I went over to Gramma and Papa's house. Adia immediately began terrorizing the cat. She's normally really good with the cat, but not this time. We put the cat out and Adia then bugged Colie to chase her. The ran all over the house until Colie got tired. Adia then begged for a fort. Gramma built her a fort and Colie and Adia sat in it together. Adia was on the chair and Colie, on the floor. Adia was perfectly happy.

It was soon time to dye eggs. I wasn't so sure how that would go because I remembered how Tanae was last year. I took off Adia's shirt and put on her apron. She sat up at the counter and looked thoroughly confused. I helped her put an egg in the dye and after a few minutes we took it out. Adia was surprised with it's change in color. It wasn't long before we started hearing, "I can do it!" and she began refusing all help. She cracked several eggs, but seemed content on letting them sit as long as possible in the yellow. She actually wouldn't let anyone else use the yellow dye.

Adia wouldn't let us put her clothes back on after she dyed eggs. She ran around the house in just a diaper. Every time we asked her if she wanted to put on her dress, she'd yell, "No!" and run away. The only reason she ever got her dress on was because we told her Papa was home. The second we told her that, she went running to the chair where her dress was sitting and yelled, "My dress," with her hands in the air. From the moment Papa walked in the door, Adia was glued to him.

Papa had even made an Easter Egg hunt for Adia. He'd put a couple M&Ms in 10 different eggs and hid them around the living room. Once Adia knew what she was looking for, she was off. We only had once mishap when she grabbed one from under a table and came straight up, smashing her head against the table. She was horribly upset at first, but was back to hunting eggs within minutes.

Adia wanted her dress off so she could eat dinner, then wouldn't eat anything. She just wanted to play more with Papa.

After they played for a bit and dinner got cleaned up, it was time for Papa's birthday cake and presents. As Papa was bringing the cake to the table, candles lit, Adia blew them all out with one good blow! It was the funniest thing ever and I wish we could have had it on video. Then, when Gramma was trying to relight them, Adia blew out the candle and match! After we sang Happy Birthday, Papa and Adia blew out the candles, but Adia's blowing ability had dwindled. She could barely get one to go out. Of course, once the candles were out, she immediately tried to take a bite of the cake like she did on her birthday. After she finished her slice of cake, she helped Papa open his cards. She likes to open cards.

She had chocolate all over her face and started asking for a Papa bath. She loves taking baths in their bathtub since it's so big. She was in the tub for the longest time. Papa let her wash her own face, but she wouldn't believe him that she had chocolate all over her face. When he showed her in the mirror, she said it was silly. After her bath, we had a naked baby on our hands again. She just doesn't like getting or staying dressed. I put her back in her dress, hoping I could get pictures of her with her bunny ears on. The second I set her in the chair, she started screaming. She ran to DiDi for protection and DiDi cheered her up by fishing.

I made one more attempt at a picture, but Adia just wanted to go home and sleep. I did manage to get one though!

The next morning DiDi had to go to work, but Gramma and Papa didn't. We went out to breakfast and then drove on the beach in the jeep. Before we left the house, Adia showed off her candy thieving skills. While I was in the shower and Scott was in the living room, she headed into the bedroom and opened Scott's bag of Easter candy. When I got out of the shower and walked into the bathroom, Adia was sitting on the bed eating jelly beans! She gave me the biggest grin. I couldn't help but laugh and I let her have the rest of the jelly beans. I called for Scott too and he never even knew she had left the living room!

Adia hadn't slept long enough the night before so she was pretty tired. She was excited to go to the beach, but there was an ice cold wind. We couldn't really get outside and play in the sand or run from the waves. Adia ended up falling asleep after just a few minutes. Gramma did get out and walked part of the beach while we stayed in the jeep. Papa drove farther down the beach and we ended up finding a really pretty clear agate. When Adia woke up, I handed it to her.

We headed back to DiDi's house. Adia played and hung out with Papa and Gramma for a bit while watching Carebears. Adia wanted to go see DiDi's class so we got ready to leave. Papa and Gramma went home and Daddy drove back home too. Adia and I walked over to school and Adia was so excited. She got mobbed by kids while they drew on the chalkboard. Before all the kids left for the day, Adia gave several of the girls big hugs. Then it was time to run around the empty classroom. DiDi handed me a few books to read to Adia, including Green Eggs and Ham. It was an instant hit. I think I read it at least 4 times before Adia was bored with it. She wouldn't stop pressing buttons on the computer or rocking in DiDi's chair. She soon followed DiDi into the faculty room and stole an apple off the table.

We ate dinner before going back home. DiDi came too, but we had to go in different cars. Adia was very happy to have DiDi still. I had a hard time getting her to sleep for the night, but she was all smiles when she woke up with DiDi next to her. Daddy and I headed to an ultrasound and doctor's appointment and Adia stayed with DiDi. She didn't even care that we were leaving. She did give us hugs though.

The ultrasound went well. Both babies are now head down and still growing like crazy. We didn't get any good pictures because neither baby was very cooperative. We got a doctor's note for our insurance too. We have another ultrasound tomorrow with the high risk doctors. Adia will be joining us for that one.

Adia also had an eye doctor appointment yesterday to check her lazy eye. We've definitely noticed an improvement and so did the doctor. Adia was even able to do some of their color blindness tests and other vision tests. She was actually really cooperative and she was definitely tired. We go back in June for a full eye exam.

Afterward we went to the bookstore. We were missing some key books, including Green Eggs and Ham and Ten Apples Up On Top. Adia threw a temper tantrum in there because she didn't want to leave. It was horrible. She only calmed when DiDi held her. It was then back home for dinner and bed. Adia was asleep by 7:30 and slept in her bed until 6:30. I was dead on my feet when she wanted to get up, but she let me snuggle with her in bed until 7:30. Then it was time with Daddy and I got to go back to bed for a bit. Adia was a goofball when she woke me up later. We had a tickle fight and she was all giggles. I love mornings when she's like that.

The rest of the day she basically ignored me though. She only interacted with me when she wanted something that she couldn't get on her own. She was bouncing off the walls when Daddy woke up. She wasn't interested in dinner, she just wanted to play with Daddy. She knew it was a swimming day. We loaded up in the car and drove to the pool. We waited in the parking lot for Gramma and Papa.

Sadly, the pool was closed for repairs! Adia was super upset. She kept saying, "Fix the pool?" She desperately wanted Daddy to fix it so she could swim. We decided to go get pie instead. Adia got a burger, but only ate some fries dipped in mustard before climbing in my lap and falling asleep. She was super tired. She woke up as we were leaving and was a total cranky baby. She was only half awake when we got home and not making much sense. After a diaper change and several renditions of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, she was asleep. I hope she sleeps well tonight.
