Wowwee!

A lot can happen in 3 days. Adia's been enjoying her redecorated room. She loves to play in her tunnel and look through books. She's also been sleeping really well, except for Saturday night. Every night she screams and fights less before bed. Tonight, she didn't fight at all. I was in shock. I was waiting for her to tense up, but she never did. She even held her sippy and drank a little milk. She's slowly making progress on that front. It only took 10 minutes tonight.

Adia's new place to hang out

Saturday was a different story though. DiDi came for a visit. Adia was happy to see her and got in lots of playtime. It was a warm, muggy day so we spent some time outside. Adia kept running free in the grass, but would get tangled in her sandal. I gave up on the shoes after awhile and she got to run barefoot. She always loves that. She showed DiDi how she can walk up the steps. When it came time for bed, Adia went down easily at first, but was up less than 30 minutes later. She screamed and screamed and screamed for the next 2 hours. DiDi finally got her to sleep because her screaming was driving me up the wall. She woke up again around 1:30 and was awake for over a hour, screaming and arching her back. She screamed for me, but once she had me, she just tried to get away. DiDi was the savior again and got her back to sleep. I just wish she had slept a little longer. We were all exhausted the next morning. We're guessing she had a tummy ache since she hadn't pooped at all on Saturday, very unlike her.

We had a fun time on Sunday, despite being tired. We went to Target and Adia complained until she got a new pair of shoes. DiDi also bought her a toy vacuum cleaner. She's still a little confused by it. She hasn't figured out the whole pushing thing. She just likes to carry it and turn the wheels so it sings. Adia started to get cranky because it was past her nighttime and she was no doubt hungry. We headed to Denny's since we know there's something she can eat. She got excited when we walked in the door. She knows where the food comes from. I ordered her a bunless cheeseburger and grapes. She ate the whole cheeseburger, some of the grapes and a cracker. I was shocked since the cheeseburger wasn't small at all. She fell asleep in the car on the way back to the house. I was able to move her to her bed without her waking up. She didn't sleep too long, but was obviously still sleeping. I got her to fall asleep on my chest and she slept for another hour and a half.

I figured she wouldn't be too hungry around dinnertime, but I was wrong. I made her grilled cheese. She hasn't had grilled cheese since before she went gluten free. She loved it. She 1/2 a sandwich and a bunch of peaches and pears. Then it was bath time and soon bed. She screamed for a little but, but it wasn't as bad as the night before. She was asleep before 8:15. She slept until 6:30 this morning! I was in shock. She didn't wake up or ever come into bed with me. At 6:30 I heard her get up and walk into the bedroom. We snuggled for a little bit before getting up. She was so cute and I got lots of kisses.

Adia wouldn't eat breakfast this morning though. She acted like she was hungry, but didn't want to eat anything. She just started chucking it on the ground. I was tired and not happy. I cleaned everything up and set her on the floor. Soon she was bugging me for food again. This time I gave her Puffins. She ate them, but was super cranky. She fought a nap and then only slept for a hour. I had hoped for a nap too, but it didn't happen. Scott had to watch her so I could at least take a shower. I made grilled cheese for lunch and Adia ate 3/4 of one. I was amazed since she was also gobbling peaches. We then headed to pick up my new glasses and contacts. I hate being so blind and my contacts have really been bothering me lately.

She wasn't happy to be back at the eye doctors, but at least it was a short visit. My contacts felt so wonderful and I could actually see with my glasses. It was wonderful. Adia just started at me in my new frames. We stopped at the pet store again, but the big puppies scared her. Then it was a quick stop to pick up Adia's bread and eggos. When we got home Adia acted hungry again. She ate some crackers and shared some ice cream. Not long after Gampa showed up. She looked shocked to see him and quickly opened up to him being here. We then headed to dinner.

We ate at Outback. Adia loves her hamburgers and tonight was no exception. I brought a fruit cup too and she gobbled most of the peaches. She's getting pretty good at using a fork. I just wish she'd stop wielding it like a weapon half the time. I'm waiting to get stabbed. It took awhile to get the bill back so Adia and I walked around outside. It was already past 7 and she wanted her bath. She loved playing on the railing and dancing to the music.

Adia was definitely ready for her bath. She played a game of chase when it was time for pjs. She didn't want Scott dressing her, only me. After she was dressed, I asked her if it was "nigh nigh" and she headed for her bedroom. She picked out a couple books and climbed into my lap. We read them a few times before I told her it was time to sleep. She didn't scream, she didn't fight, she just laid back, held the sippy and drank a little bit. I was amazed. We rocked for almost 10 minutes before she was asleep. She didn't even stir when I laid her in bed. I wonder if we'll have another night like last night. 10 straight hours would be awesome.

Success!

We has a great night last night. Adia slept 8-5:30 in her crib! Then 5:30-7:30 in bed with me. No bottles, no sippys, but right back to sleep on her own. It was wonderful. It would have been even better if I had actually gone to sleep early, but I stayed up until after 2am, reading. (I'm addicted to the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer right now) Surprisingly, I wasn't exhausted today. I actually felt pretty good until 5pm, when it was like I hit a wall. Adia looked the same way, but we're both dealing with allergies. Her eyes are ringed in red and puffy. She keeps rubbing them so I know they itch too, just like mine. We've been sneezing like crazy too.

Adia ate a great breakfast. She was starving. No milk before bed so she hadn't eaten since 6pm. She gobbled up 1 1/2 scrambled eggs, 1/2 an eggo and nearly 1/2 a can of pears. It was the first time she's actually eaten canned fruit, other than the disaster with mandarin oranges. She devoured them like candy and wanted more, but I figured 1/2 a can was good for a first time, anymore and we might be asking for disaster again. She took a good shower and it was time to wrestle her into a nap. Once again she didn't want anything to do with the sippy, so I gave up with that. Every time she even glimpsed it, she'd start screaming louder. It took about 15 minutes to finally get her to sleep. It's almost like the cry it out method, but I'm holding her while it happens.

She took a 1 1/2 hour nap and I didn't hear her wake up. Instead I heard her bedroom door slam open and little feet pattering down the hallway. When she got to the end of the hall and could see me, she grinned huge. She looked so happy and proud of herself. I turned off her music, changed her diaper and asked her if she was hungry. She was, again. Once I got her in her chair, she didn't eat much, but she watched me eat.

Her room has been bothering me for awhile and since we quit the bottles, it's made me even more crazy. I needed to move her lamp near the rocker and her stereo definitely needed to get moved higher. She keeps trying to play with it. There's also a few piles that have been created, along with lots of things that aren't being used anymore. A couple weeks ago we went through and cleaned up some of it, but there was a lot more that needed moving. That's how I spent my afternoon. One serious flaw though, whatever you put away, Adia takes back out. I was able to sidetrack her occasionally, but mostly she kept unloading her entire bookcase, over and over again. I made her a nice "window seat" next to the window that she loves. We need to make sure to get a window lock so she won't run into problems this summer. She also likes where I moved her extra car seat because she loves to sit in it and look at books or play. She seems to really enjoy her room now and I'm pleased with the change too. I still have pictures to hang and a pile on her dresser, but it's slowly taking shape. By the time I get everything where I want it, we'll probably want to move again. That's always what seems to happen.

Where I rock her to sleep.

Her shirt says "Otterly Adorable"

Her wings and tutu from Halloween, Opa's hat, a clock that was my brother's as a baby.

Showing off her window seat area

We were eating an afternoon snack when Scott woke up. Adia had started whining and when I asked her if she was hungry, she booked for her chair in the kitchen. I took that as a resounding yes. She finished off her eggo and ate canned peaches for the first time ever. She's never really liked peaches before. She wasn't a fan of the pureed version and wouldn't eat the canned ones last time I tried, but this time she went nuts over them. I got her to drink some Pediasure, but only maybe an ounce. She showed Scott her fork skills, with help from me and then he went to take a shower so we could run errands. Adia was so sticky from the peach juice so I had to change her shirt too.

We then ran errands. Adia wasn't happy to be stuck in the car as long as she was. It wouldn't have been so long if it hadn't been for rush hour traffic. We picked up a movie, hit the store and then Walmart. Then it was back home for dinner. Adia and I grabbed the mail, but she didn't want to walk. She seemed tired already, but it may have also been her allergies bothering her. She chowed down at dinner, eating hamburger, toast, yogurt and an attempt at carrots again. She tried them, but still wouldn't eat them. She actually took the piece out of her mouth and handed it back to me. I let her have some water too and she guzzled almost 8oz. I also gave her some benadryl, in hope it would make her feel better.

Adia took a quick bath and it took two of us to lotion and dress her. She was all over the place. Scott headed back to Walmart to pick up the books I had forgotten and I played with Adia. She was really silly and kept throwing her giant ball towards me. She also climbed into her folding chair over and over again. I was shocked she had figured out how.

Around 8, she started getting really frustrated and crying. I poured some milk in a sippy and she drank a little of it. We then headed to her bedroom. She picked out a book for me to read. We read it over and over. I knew I was delaying the inevitable and it was time to attempt sleep. I rocked and sang to her while she bucked, arched, kicked, pinched and screamed. It went on for 10 minutes before she stopped struggling and her cries became softer. It's like trying to tame a wild beast, but it didn't take as long tonight as it did yesterday. When I laid her in bed, she didn't open her eyes. She was adorable when I put the blankets on her though. She made a cute noise and pulled one up to her chin, snuggling it close.

She's still asleep a hour later. I'm hoping for a night like last night and I promise I won't stay up quite so late, even though I have the last two books in the series.

Eye Doc

I had to wake Adia up so we didn't miss her appointment. I wonder how much longer she would have slept. She was a happy girl though. I got her out to the car and strapped into her carseat before I realized I really had no idea where we were going. I was assuming it's where urgent care is also located, but I wasn't positive. Luckily, I was right and we weren't late. I hardly had to fill out any paperwork since Adia's medical records were already in the system. That's one thing I really like about having everything interconnected. The nurse took us back, asked what was the problem with Adia's eyes and if there was a family history. I see double and so does DiDi, plus it seems that everyone she's related to wears glasses. I then had to hold Adia in a cradle hold so she could dilate her eyes. Adia took it like a champ. She didn't even try to bat her hands away. I was amazed. Then it was time to wait for the drops to work. That was the hard part. Adia wanted to walk around like she does at her ped's office, but that was not an option there.

The doctor finally came in and had Adia follow a light, a toy, look at a distance. Adia didn't let out a peep and was a perfect angel. I think they were amazed at how well behaved she was. He let her hold several toys too. She would carefully look them over and when she had studied them enough, she'd gently hand them back and point for another one. She was so gentle and the nurse and doctor even commented on it. Of course, the whole time we were there, her eye never wandered or drifted. He said that she is farsighted, but it's in the perfectly normal range of kids her age. All her eye anatomy is perfect so there's no worry there at all. She responds the way she should, but wants to see her again in 6 months or sooner if her eye appears worse. He thinks it will probably just go away on it's own as her farsightedness disappears, but of course, that doesn't always happens. If it doesn't change or gets worse, she might need glasses or surgery, but right now, they're not necessary. Adia was happy because they gave her some sparkly stickers before she left. She's a big sticker girl.

When we got home, we picked up the mail. It was pretty windy out and Adia wasn't too happy about that. She also seemed hungry so we ate some lunch. She gobbled up some cheese, crackers and grapes.

After lunch we went back outside. Adia's getting braver about running free, especially on the grass. I think it was even windier though. I chased her around a bit before we headed to the playground.

I put her in my lap and sat on the swing. She enjoyed it at first, but soon wanted to slide. She loves the slide. I set her at the top nearly a dozen times before getting worn out.

We were also starting to get cold so we headed inside. Adia can actually make it up the steps with hardly any help. She mostly just needs a hand to hold so she doesn't fall over.

Scott woke up not long after we got inside. She complained while I made dinner, but ate a big dinner herself. She fed herself yogurt, hamburger, kidney beans, toast, cornbread, 1/4 of a sugar cookie and she tried one piece of canned carrots. I'll try the carrots again tomorrow. I've gotta get some veggies into this girl. She really chowed down though. She's practicing using a fork and spoon. She really likes to stab and eat off a fork.

Adia was a total mess, but Scott cleaned her up in the bath. She complained when it was time to get lotioned and dressed, but now she's back to terrorizing the living room. Wish us luck tonight. We're attempting a new night routine. I'll read her a book and try to get her to drink milk out of sippy while we rock in her room. Hopefully it works, otherwise she'll be crying herself to sleep like she did before her nap.

UPDATE:
We've successfully completed "nigh nigh" sans bottle. It was a knock down, drag out fight, but she's now asleep in her crib and it's not even 8:30. Around 7:45 she came up to me and said "nigh nigh" so I grabbed a sippy and headed to her bedroom. She followed me, looking confused. We read "Goodnight Moon" while she sat on my lap in the rocking chair. Everything was fine until she saw the sippy. She started screaming, arching her back, hitting, kicking, pinching, punching. I'll definitely be black and blue tomorrow. She started to wear herself out and we read the book again. She cried a little more, but I wasn't giving up or in. When she started to get a little sleepy, I offered the sippy again and she took it in both hands. She'd drink a little and complain and then drink a little more. She only drank about 3 or 4oz before falling asleep. I moved her to her bed and she opened her eyes and cried a little bit. A back rub and hand hold was all she needed to get back to sleep. Fingers crossed that it lasts.

Bye Bye Baba, Hello Sippy

I'm not exactly sure what made me snap today, but maybe it was seeing Leah Remini on Rachael Ray. Her daughter's 3.5 and still drinking out a bottle. I am not sending Adia to preschool with a bottle. It's not good for her or me. I also think we've been using them as a crutch long enough. She thinks she needs a bottle to fall asleep and since it was working, I was still using it. I know she doesn't need it. She's fallen asleep plenty of times without it. She's also become a little pro at drinking water out of her new sippys. One handed, two handed, upside down, she guzzles. There's no more excuses. She can do this and so can I.

So, today, I threw out all her bottles. *GULP* I know it's the only way to actually commit to only using a sippy. If the bottles are still there, we risk caving in and letting her have one. That's too much of a risk because we'd have to start back at square one with her. She remembers everything all too well.

Buh Bye!

Say hello to the best sippy in the world!

Adia woke up at 6am today and it was getting close to 10:30 before I attempted nap time. I knew she had to be tired, she was certainly grumpy and stubborn enough. Maybe not the best time to toss the bottles, but I was determined. I laid her down in her bed and handed her the sippy. She drank absentmindedly at first before realizing this was NOT her bottle and this was definitely milk coming out of her sippy. She immediately started screaming and trying to chuck it at my head. This went on for 15 minutes. I had my hand on her chest, keeping her laying and with the other hand trying to get her to drink. Meanwhile, she's screaming with all her might and trying to get away. I'm always amazed at how strong she can be. After 15 minutes, I picked her up and cuddled her. We were getting nowhere the other way. She still refused the sippy and continued to scream her head off. Slowly the screams became quieter and shorter until there were long pauses between them. Then she closed her eyes, still complaining, but not with as much oomph. 10 more minutes later and she was asleep. I laid her back in her bed and she started crying again. A short tummy/back rub later and she was fast asleep. She didn't drink her milk, she didn't get a bottle, but she was napping!

It's now been almost a hour and she's still asleep. Her eye doctor appointment is at 1:40 so I'm hoping she gets in a good nap, but that I don't have to wake her. She only seems to take long naps if we have somewhere we have to be. They just know, don't they?

Before her nap she was running around in a shirt, tights and one sandal, holding a can of olives. She's a totally normal child, isn't she?

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

I had an eye doctor appointment yesterday. We brought Adia with us and while I was getting my eyes checked, Scott took Adia to the pet store. She liked the puppies at first, but got spooked when the bigger ones barked at her. She's a small dog girl, just like her mommy. When they came back, I was getting ready to pick out frames. My eyes changed a lot more than I thought they had. Adia tried to help, but was mostly in mommy mode. My eye doctor also noticed Adia's funky eye. She goes to the eye doctor tomorrow.

Adia refused to eat her dinner last night. She's decided she doesn't like meatloaf anymore. She did play with a green bean for the longest time. She took a quick bath, played for a bit and then passed out. She slept in her own bed until 3am, which isn't too bad. It would be nice if she'd sleep a little later than 6:45 though.

She climbed over me, slid off the bed, opened the bedroom door and went running down the hall to the living room. She was so happy to see him sitting in the living room. After following him around for awhile, she decided it was breakfast. I followed her to the kitchen and her chair. She keeps trying to climb in in, but can't quite get the height. She gobbled up her egg, but when she heard Super Why on TV, breakfast was over. I couldn't get her out fast enough. She watched all of Super Why before deciding it was bath time.

We took our bath together. It's been ages since I took so many baths and actually played. No more soaking in bubble baths with a good book or magazine anymore. After we were both dressed, Adia started whining at me. I asked her if it was already "Nigh Nigh" and she headed towards the kitchen. I made her a bottle and she went running down the hall, into her bedroom. She quickly climbed into bed, grabbed the bottle and tried to lay down. That's a first. She only napped for a hour though. Short naps are hard on me. She woke up happy at least, but I could tell she was still tired.

We ate lunch and she was starting to get cranky. Little things kept frustrating her and she wasn't happy no matter what I was doing. She didn't want me to hold her, play with her, ignore her. She was just whining and whining. I got the bright idea to leave the house and we went to Walmart. She was actually pretty good, but kept trying to open my new shampoo and squirt it everywhere. She did get a new book, "Goodnight Moon," and a giant ball. I think it's bigger than she is. She's pretty good at throwing it too.

When we got back, we walked to get the mail. There was a squirrel, but no matter how long I pointed and said, "Look, a squirrel." She didn't see it. We had hurricane winds today so she didn't end up walking the whole way. She wanted me to carry her. We came back in and Scott woke up just a few minutes later. I attempted to make dinner, but Adia kept attacking me. She ended up falling and hitting her head on the table leg. I was cutting up raw chicken so I couldn't scoop her up. Scott tried to soothe her, but it wasn't working. The only thing that helped was her baby doll. She started carrying it around the house, hugging it tight and giving it kisses.

Soon it was dinner time. Adia ate her hamburger and toast, but refused the broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. She didn't go crazy over her grapes either. We still have 1/2 a sugar cookie left so she got part of it for dessert. Then it was a fast bath and back to playing. She talked on the phone to Gamma and DiDi. Now, it's not even 9 and she's asleep in her bed. Hopefully she sleeps well tonight. I don't need a cranky girl for her appointment tomorrow.

Sleep Baby Sleep

We've had a few more rough nights, one of which wasn't entirely her fault. She woke up around 1am Sunday night. I went in and checked on her. She was half hanging out of her bed so I figured that was the problem. She wasn't fully awake, just whimpering a little in her sleep. I picked her up to move her over and she was soaking wet and cold! She was sleeping in her own lake. I felt so bad for her. I changed her diaper and pjs and brought her back to bed with me. She went right back to sleep, snuggled up against me. I wasn't going to tackle her bed until the next day. Amazingly, she slept until 7 without waking up again.

We did our usual morning routine, but she appeared exhausted by 9. She hardly wanted to stay in her morning bath and fell right to sleep after getting dressed. I thought we might be getting another 3 hour nap, but no such luck. She only slept for about a hour. She was super silly when she woke up, which was surprising. We headed to the grocery store, but before she left, she had to make sure she brought her cell phone with us. She wouldn't leave the house without it. Scott says she just doesn't want to miss any important calls while she's out and about. She enjoyed riding the cart. She got super excited when she saw me pick up strawberries and grapes. She grabbed her animal cookies. That's when it dawned on me that she was probably hungry. Luckily I had some of her crackers with me. She gobbled up everything I handed her. When we got to the checkout line, she just stared at the cashier. Every time she'd ask Adia something or talk to her, Adia would just blink. She's always so worried that someone's going to steal her.

Adia was kind of cranky when we got home. I was hoping to get her to sleep again, but that never works. If she doesn't fall asleep in the car, it's not going to happen. She played with Scott for a little bit, but mostly wanted me. It wouldn't have been a problem, but after putting all the groceries away, my body suddenly hurt everywhere. Then I got a fever and chills and felt horrible. I just didn't have the strength or energy to play with her. I ended up taking a bath, hoping to feel better. Adia pounded and yelled at the door until I let her in with me. We took the longest bath together. She kept leaning against me and snuggling. Maybe she knew I didn't feel well.

After our bath, I started dinner. Adia wasn't happy that I couldn't hold her. I bought her more hamburger so I also had to make and freeze all her 1oz patties. It didn't take long and soon we were eating dinner. Adia devoured her hamburger, grapes and strawberries. She didn't eat much of her bread, but shared a cookie with Scott. She then took her 3rd bath of the day. Good thing baths are good for eczema. That bath wasn't as long though.

Watching Mommy make dinner and eating snacks with Daddy

After getting her pjs on, she was bright eyed and bushy tailed. She made a beeline for the goodwill bags by the door. One wasn't tied and she had soon scattered socks and underwear all over the floor. Every pair of underwear she took out, she attempted to put over her head. When she had them all out, she tried wearing the socks. It was a big mess, but so funny to watch. Scott was watching music videos on Youtube on the Wii and Adia was dancing to the music too. She loves anything with a good beat. She soon started to seem tired. She tripped over my foot and landed head first into the glider. She has her eye doc appointment on Thursday so I guess she decided she needs another black eye for it. Luckily it didn't bruise much. Today it's just a little red mark.

I got her to sleep by 9. I went to bed by 9:30, but the second I got comfortable, Adia started crying. She was up on all fours in bed. I picked her up and she let out the biggest burp. I laid on the floor with her, patting her back. She burped a few more times and sometime after that we both fell asleep. I woke up around 10:30, laid her back in bed and went to bed. Scott didn't know I was in there, he thought I was in bed. She was up again between 12 and 1. I heard her crying, but didn't respond right away, hoping she'd go back to sleep again. Next thing I know, she's crying "Mama" and wobbling down the hall. I called to her and she made a u-turn, running right into my arms. She went right back to sleep on my chest, but woke up again around 1:30/2 because she wanted to sprawl, but couldn't. Scott was sleeping with us and she normally lays on his side of the bed. I took her back to her bed, laying my hand on her chest until she fell asleep. She was up again at 4 so I brought her back to bed with us. For some reason, she thought 6:30 was a good wake up time. Scott took her and let me sleep until 9.

Now Scott and Adia are napping. Adia ate a good breakfast, eggs, grapes and strawberries. She took a bath and the let me know it was naptime. I have an eye doctor appointment at 3 today. Mommy needs a new pair of glasses. It's been almost 3 years since my last pair.

Suga Suga

Don't quite know what I was thinking, but I made gluten free sugar cookies today. I've had the mix for a few weeks and have been wanting to try it on Adia. She didn't like the cupcakes or the brownies so I was hoping the sugar cookies would be different. The cookies are gluten, egg, nut and soy free so we were even able to safely eat the batter. Adia loved it! Scott and I though the batter what pretty yummy too. I also made butter cream frosting to go with them. All cookies, especially sugar cookies, taste better with frosting. Adia agreed. Scott and her licked the beaters clean.

Adia ate a pretty good dinner too. I was out of her little hamburgers so I had no idea what I was going to feed her. I had made tortilla soup for Scott for dinner, but it was a little spicy. I toasted her some rice bread and grabbed a string cheese, but she wasn't too interested. I figured she had filled up on cookie dough and frosting. I was wrong though. She kept pointing at my bowl. I knew my soup was "safe", but there wasn't anything in it that she normally eats. She doesn't like chicken, tomatoes, corn tortillas or corn. The only thing left that might work would be the kidney beans. I fished a few out, cleaned them off and set them in front of her. She popped one in her mouth. I was shocked. She ate all the beans in my soup before she started handing them back to me. It was then cookie time. Adia's eyes got huge when I set it in front of her and her finger went right for the frosting. She didn't realize she could eat the cookie part. I broke it into pieces and she started eating away. She ate almost the whole thing before trying to share with me and smearing crumbs in her hair.

Scott had to leave for work early tonight so I had to do bath time alone. Adia wandered around the kitchen, purple hands and all, while I cleaned up. When I went to grab her pjs, she climbed into her bed, covered in frosting. I told her it was bath time and she headed that direction. She was eager to get in the water and only complained when I washed her hair. I had her giggling hysterically through most of her bath because she kept throwing a ball at me and I'd throw it back. She thought it was the funniest thing ever if I acted surprised to see it coming at me.

I've been working on laundry all day and Adia helped me with some after her bath. Today she actually helped, instead of doing the exact opposite of what I want her to do. She helped me unload the dryer, pulling stuff out and placing it in the laundry basket. She then closed the door and smiled up at me. I told her, "Good job! Give me five!" and stuck out my hand. She smacked my hand and then started clapping. A few days ago I taught her "Give Me Five," but I thought she didn't remember it. I guess I was wrong. Of course, with her helping came her not helping. Every time I tried to fold something, she'd grab it and throw it back in the basket. She also likes to unload the basket, scattering clothes from one end of the living room to the other.

Amazingly, she was in bed by 9. She took a 3 hour nap today. That's almost completely unheard of for her. I kept checking on her to make sure she was okay. She was very happy when she woke up and extremely silly. She couldn't get enough of her cell phone. She kept picking it up, holding it to her ear and saying "Hi!" or "Hewoo?" or my absolute favorite, "Hiya!"

She was also hungry after sleeping so long. She finished off breakfast's eggo and ate some animal crackers too. She especially enjoyed sitting in her folding chair, sippy in the cup holder. I think we were watching Transformers at that point since she slept through Harry Potter.

The best picture of the day happened while she was "helping with the laundry" before dinner. She's fascinated with my new underwear because they're all so brightly colored. I had a big pile of them in the living room and she jumped into them like they were a pile of leaves. She giggled, grabbed a pair and ran when I came back into the living room. She then put that pair over her head and ran around the house for at least 30 minutes like that. Every time I got near, she'd giggle, runaway and try to hide. I wasn't going to take them, but I certainly wanted a picture. I eventually got them back because she became sidetracked by Scott. He was shaving and she wanted to know what in the world he was doing. She stood in the bathroom, just looking up at him and occasionally mimicking his movements. Maybe we'll have to buy her a kid's shaving kit. I took a few pictures of her before she realized what was happening and she handed the underwear over.

If only I could have gotten the picture from Friday night. She stole a pair of underwear, put them on her head and was dragging a bra behind her. It was the funniest thing ever, but she was too fast and the camera too slow.

Shopping with DiDi

Adia had tons of fun with DiDi here. She actually went to bed at a decent time (9pm) and woke up around 7. I wasn't so happy about the 7am wake up, but Adia soon left me alone when she walked into her room and found DiDi. I could hear her giggling and playing.

We ate breakfast together. I made scrambled eggs for Adia, DiDi and myself. Adia gobbled them down. She even ate a few pieces of turkey bacon. We took a shower and headed out the door to do some shopping. We stopped at JC Penny first. While waiting for DiDi, Adia found a children's folding chair. She sat it in for ages. They were super on sale so DiDi bought it for her. Then it was time for a haircut for DiDi and a stop at Walmart and the grocery store. Adia watched DiDi get her haircut. She was quiet the whole time, just staring.

She started to get cranky at the grocery store though. It was long past her nap time. She fell asleep in the car on the way to Costco. I carried her through Costco, using the cart for some support. She woke back up when I set her in the carseat. Surprisingly, she was happy.

The weather was really starting to change by the time we got back to the house. The wind picked up, the clouds started to roll in and the temperature dropped drastically. We ate a late lunch and DiDi decided she should head back to Florence. We walked to get the mail first and nearly froze on the way there. Adia waved good bye to DiDi and DiDi drove home.

Adia was in a pretty good mood the rest of the day. She hung out with me while I made dinner and ate a big dinner herself. She ate her hamburger, some strawberries, a slice of toast and some cheese. I gave her some steamed broccoli too, but she just played with it.

Scott gave her a bath after dinner and then it was lots of playtime before she sacked out. She was really tired and didn't fight it too much. She was asleep by 9 and slept in her bed until 4am. Then we were up for the day at 7:30.

Scott let us know that it had snowed! I guess it was good that DiDi went home when she did. After breakfast, I took Adia outside and then for a walk. She was well layered and not happy to wear a hat or have a blanket on her legs. She did want to know what the weird slushy stuff was.

By the time we finished our walk, the snow was all gone. It was still really cold out, but not a cloud in the sky. She was happy to be home and just wanted a bath and bottle. We took a bath together and she drank a ton of milk before passing out.

On a sad note, you'll notice she's no longer wearing her pink butterfly tennies. I tried putting them on her this morning because they were the shoes she picked out, but the second I tried to get one foot in, she started screaming. I'm guessing she finally outgrew them. I hope DiDi can find the size 4 pair she bought her, but if she can't, Adia will just have to live in the brown soccer ball tennies until the weather warms up. She prefers sandals anyway.
