We had a good weekend. DiDi came to visit on Saturday and brought Tanae with her. Things were a little touchy between Adia and Tanae though. Adia's very much in the "mine mine mine!" stage and had lots of problems sharing with Tanae. She'd be ok one minute and then she'd start stealing toys again.

DiDi took us back to Florence on Sunday. Tanae and Adia quickly fell asleep in the car and we had a quiet ride back. The silence really was golden. Those two together can be ear splitting in their squeals, screams and giggles. They did much better at DiDi's house. We think it's because it's neutral territory. They ended up playing hide and see. It was so cute. Adia would hide and Tanae would look for her. Adia is good at hiding, but needs to stop giggling when she hears, "where's Adia?"

We met Tanae's mommy at Freddie's to give Tanae back. The girls we awful in the cart. Tanae kept mauling Adia and Adia would have a fit. It kind of reminded me of one sibling complaining that the other sibling was "looking at her." Tanae was happy to be back with her mommy and we parted ways without tears. It's nice when that happens.

Adia was up late Sunday night, but was in a good mood. She has a routine at DiDi's house. She climbs in DiDi's bed, watches the fiber optic lamp and then has us read books to her. Then before she falls asleep, Adia and I move to the other bedroom. Adia makes sure she gives DiDi plenty of hugs and kisses first.

Monday was a beautiful day in Florence. It was very cold, but sunny and dry. Adia was cranky because she didn't sleep long enough the night before. We ended up going for a walk. I thought about taking her to the park, but she fell asleep before we'd even gone 3 blocks! She then slept for over 2 hours.

Daddy joined us in the evening. Gramma and Papa came over after dinner and Adia had fun with them. She had another late night and early morning, but was super excited to go to the beach. She's been asking to go to the beach for ages now. First she went to the auto parts store to buy a new headlight for our car. She helped Daddy pick out the light, set it on the counter to buy and put them in the bag. When she came back she happily ran over to me and handed me the bag. She was proud of herself.

Our beach trip didn't go as planned. The weather was awful, stormy and ice cold. Papa knew I didn't want to walk over the dunes anyway, so we loaded up in their jeep and went driving on the beach instead. I've never been before and it was awesome. Adia absolutely loved it too. She especially loved all the bumps and driving through water. She did get out briefly to attempt some beach time with Gramma, but it was just to windy and cold. When we stopped for a bathroom break for the pregnant lady, Adia even saw 2 deer. She wanted to bring them home with us. While we were parked and she was on Gramma's lap, she peed out the side of her pull up. Adia was super upset. We changed her in the car and hoped she wouldn't do it again since I only had 1 extra pair of pants.

Adia passed out in the car and we got lunch. She woke up while we were eating and scarfed down a hot dog. She soon informed us that she was wet again. While she was sleeping, she had peed out the side of the diaper again. I will never ever ever buy Walmart brand pull ups. They seriously suck. They used to fit Adia really well, but Tanae was having the same problem with them too. Daddy had to run into Safeway to buy some Pampers and the makings for s'mores.

We went back to Gramma and Papa's house and changed Adia again. Gramma had to throw her clothes in the wash because we were out of pants. Papa made a fire in the fireplace while Adia terrorized the cat. It was soon time to roast marshmallows. I haven't had fire roast s'mores in ages and it was awesome. Adia loved helping Papa. She ate marshmallows and chocolate too, but no graham crackers for her.

We sat in front of the fire, eating s'mores and playing with waffle blocks from Daddy's childhood. I wish they still made cool toys like that. Adia had a blast with them. We built her a "go-cart" and Papa and Daddy pushed her back and forth in the kitchen. She absolutely loved it.

Then it was fort time on the bed and just being silly before we left.

Adia threw a huge fit when it was time to leave. She screamed for Gramma all the way back to DiDi's house. Then finally calmed down and hugged DiDi for a little bit. She threw another fit when we got back in the car to drive home. She screamed for the first 15 miles for DiDi. She wanted DiDi hugs. It was so heartbreaking to see her like that. She did eventually fall asleep though.

Nudist

I swear, I'm raising a nudist. We go through huge fits several times a day in order to put clothes on. It reminds me of her at a much younger age, but then she wasn't so strong and had a much harder time escaping. Today was one of the days when I wasn't so sure getting dressed was worth the fight. After her bath this morning, Adia spent most of the day in nothing but a diaper. She prefers to curl up on the couch or in my lap, wrapped in a cozy blanket and pressed as tight against me as possible. That's how she napped today. She snuggled up tight, wrapped in a blanket from her newborn days and fell fast asleep. It was a good 2 hour nap and I so wish I could have taken a picture. She looked just like a newborn. So sweet and peaceful, nothing like the mischievous toddler I know and love.

I did manage to put a shirt on her this afternoon, but that was all. No pants. At least we weren't planning on leaving the house. After Daddy got up this afternoon, he asked her if she needed a diaper change. It was very obvious that she was rather wet. "No!" she yelled as she scurried into her fort. Just a couple minutes later we hear, "I did it" and out comes a wet diaper, flung in Daddy's direction. I admit, I had to laugh. It was just too funny. After Daddy realized what had happened, out came a streaking toddler too, running in the direction of her bedroom. When she returned, still bottomless, she was holding an entire package of pull ups.

Now she's in a tub after dinner. We'll have another fight trying to get her pjs on. I can usually manage to get them on her, just before she's decided she wants to head to bed. Somedays, I don't succeed and there have been nights she's slept naked.

Oh, and she's started saying her own name rather regularly. It makes me laugh to hear it over and over again coming from her. She also points to the photos on the wall and says, "That Adia!" I'll ask her who's Adia and she says, "Me!" It's so cute.

Adia and I have just been trying to take it easy. A few days ago we played with mega blocks and she demanded a tower. We built one, but she's a little clumsy and knocked it over just seconds later. She was really upset and wanted me to build another. That just wasn't going to happen, especially when she kept running off with various blocks.

We went to DiDi's for the weekend so DiDi and I could go to a 60s folk music concert while Adia spent time with Gramma. DiDi happened to hand Adia a couple sheets of free stickers she got in the mail. Adia loves stickers and DiDi made the mistake of telling her she could put some on the play structure. I got out of my shower to find this:

I laughed so hard and asked Adia, "What are you doing?" Adia replied, "Sticker slide?" She still says sticker slide when she sees the pictures. DiDi wasn't mad, she started laughing too and said it could have been a lot worse, say all over the wall. You just have to be careful what you tell Adia because she understands everything.

We dropped Adia off with Gramma and went to the concert. It was awesome and Adia had a great time too. She ended up falling asleep next to Gramma and the cat napped with her. Adia and Waffles are very good friends. We arrived later with dinner and Adia enjoyed some more Papa time. She wasn't happy when it was time to leave and head back to Eugene. She was actually awake most of the ride too. At one point she said, "Mommy, it dark. Me scared." You'd think it would be easier to drive at night with her, but it's actually much worse because she's scared of the dark. Someone had to ride in the back with her (usually only Mommy with do) and hold her hand so she can sleep.

She did eventually fall asleep, but woke up while I was trying to lay her down. She was shocked to be home and have Daddy again. I did my late night puke session, with a worried Adia. Then we went to bed.

We went out to breakfast with DiDi and Daddy yesterday morning. It was nice, but Adia was insanely hyper. In the afternoon we left Adia with DiDi and Daddy and I went to a movie. That was nice and Adia didn't even complain when we left. She's finally realizing we always come back. Adia was super cranky when we got back and Daddy went to sleep. DiDi and I took Adia to the grocery store, hoping she'd fall asleep in the car. She didn't, but that meant she was able to eat dinner before sleeping. DiDi and her had hamburgers from Wendy's and when Adia finished hers, she asked for more. Too bad we only had the one. She said bye to DiDi and DiDi went back home. Adia and I had a nice evening and she crashed around 8:30. Daddy got up not long after that so I could lay Adia down in bed. I was ready for bed around 11 and laughed so hard when I saw Adia. She was completely sprawled across the bed with no room for me. I just had to take a picture. It was too funny. I moved her over and she slightly woke up and said, "Hi mommy. Kiss." She's such a silly girl.

And a 12 week picture for you. I actually felt one of the babies kick me while we were at the movies. So weird to feel them so early. I can't wait until Adia gets kicked for the first time.

Future Gymnast?

Do you think we might have a future gymnast on our hands?

I have a feeling we need to get her in tumbling classes, asap! The funniest part is when she stands to to it all over again, she says, "I'm magic!"

Twins!

So for the last 7 weeks, I've been holding back and actually explaining why the blogs have been so few and far between. It's mostly because I'm too dang sick all the frickin' time. Having a baby, or babies, will do that to you. I could write a whole blog on the wonders of puking, but don't worry, I won't. It's just not pretty, even if you can't get over how sweet it is when Adia says, "Mommy cough. Mommy puke. Mommy, k?" All the while rubbing or hugging my legs.

It all started when this:

appeared. Yes, planned so we were pretty excited. I think Adia was the most excited though. She had been hounding us for a few months for a baby. Then all she could talk about was her baby. One slight problem, she was also talking about her "brothers." Umm.. honey, babies come one at a time, yet each time we asked if she wanted a brother or sister, she'd respond with "brothers!"

A few weeks later I was feeling all sorts of weird pains. At not very far along, I was thinking ovarian cyst or ectopic pregnancy. I thought for sure it was much too early for ligament pain and these pains felt like I was being stabbed. The doctor's office scheduled me an early ultrasound just to put my mind at ease.

5 weeks

On our way to the ultrasound, Daddy said that if it was twins, he'd take me out to dinner at Outback. He really needs to be careful about what he says. The ultrasound tech didn't say a single thing the entire time. That certainly doesn't put her mind to ease. About halfway through, she said she was going to find a doctor to talk to me afterward since I didn't have a doctor's appointment that day. She did tell me several times not to worry though, that talking to a doctor afterward was perfectly normal. While she was out of the room, Daddy glanced at the screen and saw 2 round spots. He mentioned them and said it was probably twins. I didn't want to believe him. Babies only came one at a time. I was NOT going to have twins. The tech couldn't find an available doctor so she came back with a midwife. She told us that we were most likely having twins, but it was too early to see babies or heartbeats. I seriously wanted to puke and Daddy started laughing nervously.

We spent the next 3 weeks wondering if all was still well and getting used to the idea of twins. Adia switched from wanting brothers to sisters.

6 weeks

Our next appointment was insanely long and right before Christmas. Luckily we were able to leave Adia with DiDi because she never would have lasted the entire time. Our doctor was stuck in surgery and we didn't end up seeing her until nearly 4:30, even though our appointment was at 2! I got blood drawn and had an ultrasound while waiting though. This time we could actually see the babies, measure them and measure heartbeats too. One even waved at us. Thankfully, our doctor reassured me that just because it was twins certainly did not mean I would have to have a c-section. That had been one of my biggest fears about twins. They were both measuring at 8wks, 3 days with heartbeats of 169bpm.

8 weeks

Over the next 3 weeks, I continued to grow and the morning sickness hit full force. I've been puking daily and having a hard time eating anything. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat or don't eat, it all comes back up. The worst has been the middle of the night puke sessions. At least Adia doesn't have to be aware of those.

11 weeks

We had another appointment today. Adia went with us and once we convinced her that it wasn't for her, she was in a much better mood. She did really well and had only a slight complaint while I had my blood pressure taken (122/77!). I've also only gained .4lbs in the last 3 weeks. That was a surprise for me. Even though I look lots bigger, I wouldn't have been surprised to lose some. We also had a quick ultrasound to check the growth of the babies. The doctor said they were absolutely perfect. They're measuring exactly where they should be and their heartbeats are now 159 and 151. Adia loved watching "her babies" on the screen. They were dancing all over the place, rolling and punching and kicking. We're going to have some more high energy kids on our hands. Adia kept saying, "My babies" and then making the same noise she makes when she's trying to talk to small animals. I guess she thinks they look like squirrels. We handed her the pictures and she refused to give them back. She just kept hugging and kissing them and saying, "my babies!" As she was walking down the hallway with Daddy, she kept staring at them and happened to run into the wall. It's pretty typical for her to do, but I nearly peed myself when Scott told me.

So yes, we're having twins. They're due July 31st and our "big" ultrasound is next month, February 12th. We'll hopefully find out then whether Adia's getting brothers, sisters or both.

You know how you get so far behind that you just don't know where to start to get caught up? Yep, that's where I am. I'm almost 2 weeks behind in updating the blog and honestly, I haven't taken very many pictures as of late.

We did have a second Christmas at Gramma and Papa's house. Adia loved opening more presents and climbing all over her Papa, Auntie and Uncle. She was so happy to see everyone again. It's great to see how she actually knows who everyone is. She remembers them, asks for them and can't wait to see them again.

She especially liked the snoring Santa that Gramma and Papa have had for ages. She thought he was the funniest thing ever and now recognizes Santa too.

After opening presents, we headed down to Coos Bay to go to Shore Acres and see the lights. I couldn't wait to see Adia's face. We had dinner at Sizzler and Adia wouldn't eat anything except ice cream. Adia was confused by the drive out to the lights. It was really dark and she had no idea where we were going. Once we were parked, I had to seriously bundle her up because it was freezing cold. We were lucky though because it didn't rain at all, even though everything was wet. She was Auntie Colie's girl from the moment we got out of the car. Colie chased her around the park and played with her. Adia kept saying, "Oooh pretty lights" and telling us the colors. She especially enjoyed the moving lights like the whale, sea lions, birds and crabs. She was upset when it was time to leave, but she said good bye to the lights and fell asleep in the car before we were even out of the parking lot.

Daddy went home the next day, but Adia and I stayed with DiDi for several days. Adia had a blast and is getting so much better at using silverware. She ate half a box of mac and cheese, using her fork.

We had Tanae overnight too. They were crazy together. Lots of giggling, screaming and fights over the same toys.

Adia wasn't happy to have DiDi leave on Friday after she drove us back, but she was happy to be in her own home. She was incredibly talkative when we went grocery shopping, naming everything she saw. We've also watched Monsters Inc a million times. She absolutely loves that movie. It has taken Panda's place. She especially enjoys watching TV in crazy places, like a couple days ago while sitting in a box with a bunch of crayons.

Gramma and Papa visited yesterday. Adia was bouncing off the walls so happy to see them. We went to the book store and got ice cream. Adia bought 2 new books. She handed them to the cashier and then handed her money. Adia said, "Thank you" and carried her own bag. She was so proud of herself. Then we went and got ice cream. Adia picked her own, chocolate with M&Ms, but she didn't eat much of it. Papa ended up finishing it for her.

We loaded back up in the car and headed off to look at manufactured homes. Adia fell asleep in the car so Papa carried her through most of the models. She woke up almost at the end and was awesome. She wandered around with me, checked out possible bedrooms and was really confused about why she couldn't pee in the potty. After looking at all the models and getting some info, we headed back home for dinner. Adia didn't eat much, but she did try some guacamole. Daddy and I left Adia with Gramma and Papa so we could see a movie. Adia didn't cry at all when we left, just waved. I got the biggest hug when we came back in the door though.
