Just Beachy

We’ve had some wonderful weekends at Gramma and Papa’s  house and they included some time at the beach. Adia loves digging in the sand, destroying Daddy’s sandcastles and running from the waves with Gramma. The twins aren’t so sure about the beach since there’s not a whole lot for them to do. They both enjoy the wind though.

They also got to spend lots of time with Gramma and Papa.

I promise, I’ll get caught up on the blog soon. Leia started really crawling a couple days ago and now she’s everywhere and cruising on furniture. Just watch her walk first. And Adia’s still coughing, which means she’s also still puking. Blech.

Adia's 3rd Birthday

I know, her birthday was almost 2 weeks ago, but since Mira's become the expert crawler and couch cruiser, I haven't had much time. Leia's close to crawling, but gets frustrated very easily.

Adia's birthday started out with birthday pancakes. She helped make them.

After pancakes, I had to get everything ready to take to her party. All she kept doing though was asking if it was time to leave. She was so excited.

To make matters more interesting, I still needed a stool sample to take to the lab. After a few days of bloody diarrhea, she then didn't go at all for 24 hours. Adia has perfect timing though and happened to go just before I was getting in the shower. I then had to run her samples to the lab before we went to her birthday party. Luckily, everything came back normal and she was back to normal. Whatever it was though, she shared with the rest of us. Blech.

Adia's party was at the pizza place. She had gluten free pizza and played in the play area. She had a blast and it was hard to get her to come back for cake and presents. She pretty much just ate the frosting off her cupcake. Then it was time for presents. She made out like a bandit. I should have taken a picture of all the presents. I was shocked. She was definitely worn out by the end.

She didn't want to come home when it was time to leave. She ended up playing outside with DiDi while Auntie Colie, Gramma, the twins and I went to Costco. The weather was beautiful and Mira's eyes are super sensitive so she gladly wore sunglasses. When she gets out in the sun, her eyes start watering normally.

The next day we took Adia to Red Robin for her birthday burger and sundae. She was crazy in the restaurant and so were the twins. It was mostly a disaster.

On Monday was Adia's second attempt at the dentist. She did so much better. She opened her mouth and he was able to really look at her teeth. We go back next month for a cleaning, but her teeth look perfect. Since she was so good, we went for ice cream after.

Happy 3rd Birthday Adia!

Three years ago I was sitting in a hospital room, holding my new little girl in my arms. So tiny, so new. Not only has she changed so much in 3 short years, but so have I. It’s amazing the changes that occur when you become a mother. You suddenly have someone you have to protect, to know and understand better than yourself, but who can’t answer your questions. I’d like to say it was easier now that she can answer back, but it’s not at all.

Just shy of Adia’s first birthday, we discovered her problem with gluten. I was then thrown into the world of gluten free baking. Her first birthday cupcakes left a lot to be desired. There’s a reason I don’t like gluten free mixes.

By the time Adia turned 2, we knew we were expecting twin girls. Adia was excited to have sisters, but didn’t quite know what to expect.

Between that birthday and this one, she’s changed so much. She’s entered her “why?” stage and can handle abstract thinking. I love hearing her tell stories. Her imagination is HUGE.

I think what surprises me the most is how Adia can always make me laugh. She’s got the greatest sense of humor and the kindest soul. She’s sweet to her sisters, she tries to help and I can’t wait to see what the next year brings for us.

Growing Up

Adia’s 3rd birthday is tomorrow and I can’t believe it! She’s growing up so incredibly fast. She spelled her name today so I could write in on her peanut butter jar (Her stuff’s labeled so it doesn’t get gluten contaminated), she can climb the highest ladder to go down the tallest slide without any help when other kids twice her size were too scared and she’s started drawing actual pictures. The shower walls are covered with drawings of us. I love her people and trees and animals. It’s actually pretty easy to tell what they are too.

The twins are growing too. Mira’s a fast crawler. She follows me when I leave a room now. She also started pulling herself to a stand and tonight she was couch surfing. Not cool! She’s not even 8 months old yet.

Leia is still tipping over when she tries to sit, but she is rolling everywhere. She looks pretty irked that she can’t follow Mira around and really gets upset because Mira’s constantly stealing her toys.

Adia enjoys baths every night after dinner with her sisters. It’s pretty funny watching the 3 of them in the tub. Now, if only they’d share and it was easier getting them out of the tub.
