Happy Birthday Mommy!

Adia did NOT want to go to sleep last night. She screamed on and off while Scott tried rocking her and my mom was trying to get Tanae to sleep. It was a disaster. Eventually, around 11ish, I took her out into the living room. All the lights her out and I sat in the rocking chair with a bottle. She started to calm down and drink. Just a few minutes later my mom came out. She took Adia with me and they disappeared into Adia's room. We didn't hear anything more until around 3am. Adia woke up screaming, but never woke up Tanae. She had a bottle and went back to sleep until almost 8!

Adia and Tanae played on the floor for a little while, Scott left for work and then I showered. We thought we'd go for a little walk before going to breakfast or shopping. Adia tried out her new stroller. She seemed to like it, but the sun shade isn't very good. I love how big the wheels are, but it was really hard to push. That's when we noticed that they were all flat! No wonder I was having problems. We brought it back and switched for our usual stroller. Adia fell asleep, as usual, and we didn't walk the whole way because we were worried Tanae would get sunburned. Her sunshade was even worse than Adia's. When we got back, Adia was fast asleep. We took her out of the stroller without waking her, but it didn't last long. I switched her car seat to my mom's car and we got ready to go.

It was COLD out today

We had breakfast at Denny's. It's a great place to eat with Tanae because she likes to order off the kid's menu. It was interesting trying to hold Adia though. She was not being cooperative because she always wants to do what Tanae is doing. Adia ate puffs and is getting much better at the whole pincher grasp thing. Then she tried some grits. At first we thought she was going to spit them out, but she opened her mouth for more. That's a rarity.

After breakfast we went to Walmart. Both Adia and Tanae fell asleep on the way there. DiDi laid Tanae in the cart on a blanket and she slept almost the whole time we were there. I carried Adia around. Her head was on my right elbow and she got heavier and heavier. Eventually I couldn't carry her like that so I moved her. She woke up, but didn't complain at all. She just looked very confused. She rode in the cart for a little bit. She got a new toy and sippy cup. My mom also picked up a Christmas present for her and we also got her a Little Mermaid pillowcase. Adia has a thing for Ariel for sure. Tanae was really confused when she woke up, but happy to see Adia.

After Walmart we picked up Scott from work. By then Adia was screaming because she was tired and hungry. She cried all the way home. When we got back I got her out of the car. I made her a bottle and she ate it while Scott held her. Not long afterwards Scott's mom arrived. Adia looked surprised to see her. Adia was quickly passed to Gamma G. We were trying to decide where to go for my birthday dinner, but getting nowhere fast. Tanae was playing, bringing clothes to me, when all of a sudden she tripped and smacked her head into the wood part of the ottoman. She started screaming bloody murder and Adia looked upset too. Tanae hits her head all the time so we didn't think much of it. My mom went to comfort her and change her diaper. That's when she screamed my name. Tanae hadn't just hit her head, she'd hit right next to her eye, causing a one inch bloody gash. I tried icing Tanae while my mom called urgent care, who told her to go to the ER. Meanwhile Tanae was screaming every time I got near. She did NOT want the ice on her face, but she was already swelling the bruising. My mom left with Tanae and told us to go celebrate without them.

We went to the mall first to run an errand with Gamma G. Adia loves the mall. We went shopping at JC Penny (mommy got boots and a skirt) and Adia loved looking in all the mirrors. She was doing really well since it was getting late and she hadn't really napped. On the way to dinner, Adia fell asleep in the car seat. I randomly chose a restaurant out of a restaurant guide we had in the car and I picked well. Gamma G managed to get Adia out of the car, still asleep. We were seated and Adia was still sleeping. She slept quite awhile and was disoriented when she woke up, but very happy. She liked watching everything that was going on around us and being traded around the table. When our food got there, Adia tried some of my plain baked potato. She seemed to like it, but didn't want too much of it. She had fun banging on Gamma G's leftovers box and tried diving into dessert. Since it was my birthday I got a free dessert and it was YUMMY!

It was really late when we got back. Adia was exhausted and starting to get cranky. DiDi and Tanae were laying down, DiDi hoping she could get Tanae to sleep. By then Tanae's tylenol had kicked in and she was waiting for any excuse to get up. I had to go into the room to get Adia pjs and a diaper. The second I opened the door I heard Tanae's little voice say, "Hi!" It was precious and it was good to see she was feeling better. She was watching my every move and eventually sat up. Within minutes she was taking our house apart again. She had superglue and bandages by her eye, but other than that she's perfectly fine. Luckily it didn't affect her eye and the doctor said it may not bruise or swell too bad because we had been icing it. (DiDi was able to do a better job once they were in the ER) Adia was VERY happy to see Tanae and vice versa. I don't know what we're going to do when Tanae goes home.

I got in the tub with Adia and she started splashing like crazy. She had a ton of fun and then Tanae came into the bathroom. Tanae started splashing in the water and playing with the cups. She got water everywhere, but made Adia happy. Scott dressed her afterwards and Adia kept trying to flip over and take off. By then Tanae was in Adia's high chair, hungry again. Adia sat on my lap while we watched Tanae and DiDi eat. (DiDi had my leftovers of steak and baked potato) Then Tanae and Adia played a little bit before both of them started to get tired and cranky. Adia drank less than an ounce before collapsing in Scott's arms. DiDi's still trying to get Tanae to sleep.

It was a pretty good birthday for me. I wish Tanae hadn't gotten injured and missed the birthday dinner, but it's good to know she's ok now. Adia was wonderful all day. I hope she sleeps well tonight because we have a wedding to go to tomorrow and we need our usually happy, silly girl.
