After a lot of changing our minds, Adia and I went back to the coast with my mom. We're only staying one night before we go back to Eugene. My mom will be helping us until Wednesday since my arm is still pretty weak. It almost like I'm having to relearn how to use it and there's still a lot I can't do.

Adia fell asleep on the way back. She was playing with her keys and fell asleep with one in her mouth. She woke up about 15 minutes before we got to my mom's house. I thought for sure she was going to fuss, but she just stared at me in shock and watched the trees go by. I managed to get her out of the car when we got to my mom's. It wasn't too easy, but at least she grabs on to give me a little help.

My mom set her up a place to play in her living room and Adia was enthralled by all the new toys. She especially liked the telephone. You press one of the buttons and it starts ringing. Then the handset jumps up and down. Every time it did that she'd grab the handset and hold it up to her face. Considering we only have cell phones, that really surprised us. At one point she was even babbling into it. She quickly figured out which button to press to make it ring. Her other favorite toys was the stacking rings. You press the top and it spins and makes all sorts of noises. She figured that one out pretty quick too.

Shortly after that she started crying and nothing we did could sidetrack her. My mom made her a bottle and she gladly ate that, but only on her own terms. Most of the time now she'll only drink a bottle if she's holding it. If you try to put it in her mouth, she gets mad and nearly chucks it across the room. She drank 3 of the 4oz, but then didn't want anymore. She was still upset and rubbing her eyes so we knew someone needed a nap desperately. My mom cuddled her and despite Adia's flailing and complaining, she got her to sleep. My mom still needed to go to school to get everything ready for her sub so we carefully transferred Adia from her to me.

Adia napped a hour before waking up. She woke up screaming. I tried comforting her, but that only made her scream louder. I noticed it was 6 so I attempted to get her undressed for dinner. Snaps are not fun when you have an injured arm. Since I knew I couldn't get her in and out of the high chair, I put the bebepod on the kitchen table. Adia was confused, but once she saw the food she stopped crying. Tonight she had apples and sweet potatoes. She really liked them and was opening her mouth huge for them. She also liked that she could reach the table. She took her spoon and spread food all over the table. She made a big mess, but was having fun. She ate 3/4 of the jar and most of it actually made it in.

Bath time was a whole other battle. Adia's been very mommy oriented since I haven't been able to do much with her. She knew that no one else was here. She wouldn't let me set her down at all. She started crying when I set her on the bathroom counter to take off her onesie. She cried when I tried to set her in the bouncy seat to start the bath. I eventually gave up on the whole bath idea and since I was freezing, thought we could take a shower together. She did not want to sit long enough for me to get dressed, but once we were skin to skin, she was the happiest I've seen her in a long time. She LOVED the shower. She played in the water and kept sticking her tongue out to catch it. She would even tilt her head back into it. It was tough to wash her with my right hand. She was mad when I turned off the water. If my left arm hadn't got tired we could have stayed in there longer. My biggest problem came when I tried to set her down long enough for me to dry off and get dressed. If I thought she wouldn't stay put before, this time all she wanted was to be against me. She nearly flipped out of the chair and I wrenched my already injured arm catching her. It was also difficult to dress her since my arm still doesn't bend certain directions. She was less rolly than normal, so I had somewhat of a chance.

After her bath she wanted to play. I set her on the floor while I got online. She was watching my every mood and quickly assumed the crawling position. She still doesn't seem to know that she doesn't crawl. She'd squirm and kick and get ticked, but didn't get anywhere. Eventually she started rolling. She kept her eyes on me the whole time she was rolling which meant she didn't get anywhere near me. She rolled a good 5 feet before getting stuck on her tummy and crying. I picked her up and she started rubbing her eyes. That's always a good sign, but I also noticed she smelled a little funky. I checked her diaper and sure enough, she'd pooped. Luckily it wasn't that much, but it did smell. It kind of reminded me of what she used to do before she ate solids. I then took her back to the couch with a bottle. She ate a total of 6 ounces before falling asleep. I was hoping she'd be out for the night, but lately that hasn't been happening before 10:30.

My mom came home after Adia was asleep and made us some dinner. Adia woke up and was happy to see my mom. My mom held Adia while I ate and Adia tried some grits and fava beans. She didn't seem to like either of them, but kept grabbing at my mom's plate for more. She seems to want anything my mom has, whether she really does or not. After dinner Adia played briefly before getting cranky again. My mom held her and I shared a little bit of my ice cream. It was the first time she actually liked it. All the other times she's had ice cream in the past she's always spit it right out. She started whining again and it was easy to tell she was tired. My mom took her into the bedroom to get her to sleep, but she had no luck. After a diaper change she handed Adia back to me while she hung up shirts. Adia was trying to use me as a jungle gym so I set her back down on the floor.

I hope she goes to bed soon. We're all tired.
