We had to take Scott to a meeting yesterday so I was up at 6:30. Adia woke up too and was in a pretty good mood. I think she was just happy to see Scott up and feeling better. She wasn't happy when it was time to get in the car though. She's been fighting the carseat lately. She became even more upset when Scott got out of the car and left her alone in the back seat. She complained all the way home.

It was short lived though because I figured out she was still hungry. She had eaten an eggo before leaving, but it wasn't enough. She gobbled down a banana and a scrambled egg. She was a voracious eater. We've been having problems getting her dressed after baths so she's been getting plenty of naked time. This day was no exception. She ran around, butt naked and wouldn't let me catch her. I finally did because she heard the Sesame Street theme song come on and came running back to the living room. I had no idea she even recognized it. She started dancing and pointing at Elmo. He must be her favorite. She started to get really cranky again just before 10. She normally goes down for a nap at 11 so it certainly wasn't normal behavior. She didn't fight go to sleep, but just wanted to snuggle. She was only happy if I was practically crushing her against me.

After her nap, we ate lunch. She had a peanut butter sandwich and another banana 1/2. She smelled like peanut butter the rest of the day. Scott dropped by during his lunch and she was really happy to see him. Not so happy when he left again. Adia's been trying to scribble with a pen too so I tried out her crayons on her again. She was actually semi successful this time before she got bored and ripped her drawing in two. I save the half that wasn't mangled. Surprisingly, she didn't try to eat the crayons either.

Since she's been taking off her pants (and shirt) lately and keeps trying to climb on her potty, I thought we'd head to Walmart and buy her some pull ups. I have a horrible time trying to get her diaper off so she can sit on the potty and if she runs around in just a diaper, she ends up taking it off. Adia let me dress her and then we headed out the door. She was happy to be out and about and looked excited about the pull ups. While we were in Walmart, I touched the cart and it shocked me. Adia pointed at the cart and said, "It hurt you, Mommy?" My mouth dropped open and I could barely respond with, "Yes, it did." She held my hurt hand after than. I'm always surprised when she says a full sentence because she'll go hours with just babble and the occasional "ball" or "mama". I do know she understands everything I say though. On our way back out to the car, the cart started vibrating in the parking lot. Adia's eyes got wide and she said, "Hold!" while grabbing my hand. Once I was holding her hand, she relaxed.

When we got home, I put her in a pull up. She kept pointing at the princess on the front of it. I think she really liked that she didn't have to lay down to put it on too. We practiced peeing in the potty, but she still just sits there and goes "sssss". It's pretty funny. She ran around in just her pull up and shirt for the longest time before pulling her shirt off. She loves being a naked baby.

I asked her if she wanted to get the mail around 5 and she headed for the door. I told her the only way we could go outside was if she got dressed. That brought her running back, holding her shirt in one hand. I got her dressed and we headed outside. I chased her in the grass for a little bit. She giggled and squealed, but kept falling down. We headed to the playground and she wanted to swing. While we were swinging, Scott came home. He walked onto the playground and when Adia saw him, her eyes lit up. She went running for him. We walked to get the mail, her holding Scott's hand with one hand and mine with the other.

Scott took us out to dinner. Adia didn't want anything to do with her burger, but she loved her apple slices. She had a major fruit day yesterday and surprisingly, her diaper wasn't that bad this morning. She gnawed on her apple slices throughout dinner and we ended up bringing them with us in the car because she was still eating them! We stopped to get ice cream and go to Borders before heading home. Adia picked out cotton candy ice cream because it was bright blue. I didn't get anything since I knew I'd end up eating hers. She only took a couple bites before wanting to run. It actually tasted like cotton candy too.

Adia ran free in the courtyard for a bit. Then she checked out the fountain. She was ok with the fountain, actually thought it was pretty cool until she touched the ice cold water. She jumped backwards and ran for Scott. She had a death grip on his hand and wanted to be held.

If I think Adia's bad on the shoe aisle, nothing compares to the bookstore. We walked in next to the bargain children's books and she went nuts. There was an audible "Oooh!" and straight for the first one she could reach. We told her she could pick one out, but she just kept pulling one after another off the shelves. When we'd start putting some of them back, she'd grab one and try to head out the door. She's starting early as a shoplifter and of books, no less. She picked out two books and then she started to have a meltdown. It was way past her normal bath time and getting close to bed time.

We went home and she got in the tub. It was a pretty quick bath and after a couple books, she went right to sleep. She slept straight until 5 when she joined me in bed and we slept until 7.
