Fun, Fun, Fun

Adia had a great, long weekend. Thursday brought her 2 year well baby visit. Lucky for her she doesn't need any shots until she's 5, except flu shots. She played with a little boy in the waiting room before heading back to get weighed and measured. She did surprisingly well with that. Normally she starts screaming when you put her on the scale, but this time, all she complained about was her diaperlessness. Adia's now 23 lbs 6oz and 32.4 inches. She's finally in the 10th percentile for weight after being at the 3rd for ages. It was great to see. I guess all the ice cream is paying off.

We were then left in the exam room to wait for the doctor. They have lots of different toys and books, so it wasn't too bad. Adia ended up playing with a dinosaur and some megablocks. She kept sliding the blocks on the dinosaur's feet and saying, "Socks and shoes on!" It was really funny. Adia was really good for the doctor. She let her look in her ears and eyes and even smiled while the doctor was listening to her heart and lungs. She just completely refused to let the doctor get a good look in her mouth. She refused to open up at all. She did let the doctor hear her talk though, which made my day. Her doctor said that at least we don't have to worry about her speech at all. That's for sure. Adia's a total chatter box.

We spent the rest of the day running errands. Adia got to spend some of her birthday money at Borders. She got 3 new books and then to the mall where she bought a M&M caramel apple. She played in the play area and then took a long nap.

Adia was begging to see DiDi and her class on Friday. I figured that since Scott was working a bunch of overtime all weekend, we might as well go back. Sadly, we didn't make it before the kids went home and Adia was very mad a mommy for that. She did enjoy drawing on DiDi's chalk board and seeing Gramma and DiDi. Gramma just happened to drive by just as we were walking over to school!

We went to dinner with Gramma and DiDi at Moe's. Adia loved looking out the window at the water and searching for birds. We had ice cream afterward and then DiDi, Adia and Mommy went to check if the toy store was open. Sadly, it wasn't.

Saturday morning Adia was super happy to climb in bed with DiDi. We ate breakfast and went to Freddies. Adia picked out some cute onesies and dresses for her little sisters and even got a purple fleece for herself. We then headed to the PTA carnival. Adia had no idea what she was getting into, but we knew she'd have fun. She played a bunch of games and won prizes, but I think the high light was the bouncy castle. When she first got in it, she was pretty timid, but we soon convinced her to let go and bounce. She just kept wanting to come back to it. I think we'll have to have a room with a bouncy castle in it for her and her sisters eventually. It would be a great way for them to use up all their excess energy. DiDi and Adia also shared some cotton candy. I think we found another new favorite treat for Adia.

Saturday night we went over to Gramma and Papa's. Adia was excited to be there and loved chasing the cat around. Papa bought Adia a special dessert too, M&M ice cream bars! Before Adia could have it, I told them to take off her shirt. She came running into the living room, ice cream in one hand, bowl in the other without her shirt on. When DiDi handed me an ice cream too, Adia shouted, "Mommy shirt off too!" She also demanded DiDi take hers off too. We were laughing so hard. Adia enjoyed the ice cream, but I think we all did. She had blue all over her face and hands. We watched a movie and she played with Papa. She started to get tired though so we headed back to DiDi's house.

We were supposed to head back to Eugene on Sunday morning, but it was so windy and rainy that there was a mudslide on the road and it was closed! Adia didn't mind at all since it meant more time with DiDi. We had a yummy dinner (steak and potatoes) and Adia ate quite a bit of steak. She went to bed happy after reading books between Mommy and DiDi in DiDi's bed. She was especially funny and laughed hysterically while we tickled her. She wasn't happy when DiDi had to go to work in the morning though.

Adia was upset that DiDi had to work, but I promised her we'd see DiDi at lunch before we went back home. I was also hoping the road would open so we wouldn't have to take the long way around. Just before lunch, I put Adia in the stroller and we walked up to Dutch Bros to get a drink for DiDi. Then we walked to school. Adia couldn't wait to see DiDi and her class. The second she got out of the stroller, she was drawing on the chalk board. When the kids came back in the room, they swarmed around her, all yelling, "It's Adia!" She acted shy at first, but quickly warmed up. It was soon time for lunch, but she demanded hugs from most of the girls. She also got an apple from the faculty room.

We went back to DiDi's house for lunch. DiDi and Adia shared some chips and guacamole and then it was time for Mommy and Adia to leave. Adia wasn't happy about that, but she didn't cry for too long. I kept reminding her that we'd see DiDi again soon and that Gramma and Papa would be visiting. Adia slept in the car and woke up just as we were getting home. She was happy to see Daddy and the giggling soon started.

We needed to go to the store. Adia helped pick out the food and got a new lifejacket for swimming. When we got home, it was time for dinner and then swimming with Papa and Gramma. We went swimming last Wednesday with DiDi and Gloria and it was great. Papa and Gramma thought it would be fun to do while they were up here. Adia knew where we were going and was super excited. When we got inside, she took her coat and shoes off and put them in a locker. She was quick to let me dress her too and was happy about using her new life jacket.

She immediately headed for the warm kiddie pool. Gramma tugged her around while Adia floated on her back. She actually put her ears under water this time. After much coaxing, we got her in the mushroom pool. That's when she noticed the water slide. We didn't know if she was going to be too small or it would terrify her, but she was determined to go on it. Papa and Daddy headed up the steps with Adia. Adia went down in Daddy's lap and had the biggest grin on her face. He made sure he wasn't going too fast and that he was holding her up at the bottom. He said she was yelling "Wee!" the entire way down and the second they were off the slide, we could read her lips and tell she was saying, "Again!" They went on it over and over again. She even went with Papa once. The only reason she stopped going was because she got too cold. We ended up back in the warm kiddie pool.

Adia then said she wanted to go in the deep pool to float with Mommy. We went in there, but it didn't last long. It's just too cold for her. I did get her to jump off the side into my arms, but once she was back out, she grabbed Papa's hand and said, "Bye Mommy," as she dragged him off to the kiddie pool again.

Just before time was up, we got her into the wave pool. Papa sat in an inner tube and Adia sat in his lap. They surfed the waves for the longest time and Adia loved it. She didn't kick and scream when we told her it was time to leave, but she didn't want to take off her lifejacket. We got in the shower and I washed her all off. Then she wanted to stand in the shower by herself. She looked adorable and loved the warm water. We got dressed and decided to head for ice cream. Adia thought it was a great idea.

Adia wasn't happy to see Papa and Gramma leave after ice cream, but it was pretty obvious that she was exhausted. We got home and read books in bed. She fell asleep by 10 and slept until 7:30 by herself. When she got up, all she wanted was Daddy. She actually told me to go back to sleep. After I got up this morning, Daddy was going to go running. Adia wouldn't let him leave without her so he had to take her in the jogging stroller. When they came back, Adia told me all about the big truck she saw.

Tomorrow's Wednesday so hopefully DiDi will be up here to go swimming again. It's so nice to float around and see Adia so happy. We have another ultrasound bright and early on Thursday too.
