We've been back in Eugene since Thursday. Adia's fever finally broke Saturday. It was up to almost 102 on Friday, but Tylenol and cool baths took care of it. Adia's finally starting to act like herself. Her nose is still running and she's still got a pretty bad, wheezy cough, but she's playing, active and generally her crazy self.

When I say crazy, I mean it. I got out of the shower yesterday to discover Adia splashing in the toilet! I was NOT a happy camper. I plopped her in the bathtub, covered in hand soap and let her wash off while I got dressed. Afterwards we headed to Target to buy a toilet lock. I wasn't going to have her playing in it again. She's not so happy about the lock. She's been attempting to open it since I first put it on there. I hope it takes a few months before she figures it out. Since the locks came two in a package, there's now on the fridge too. Adia doesn't quite have the strength to open the fridge yet, but Tanae does. Now I just need to buy door nob covers because Adia's almost to that point too.

If the toilet wasn't bad enough, I was in the bathroom a few seconds and when I came back to the living room, Adia was no where to be found. She had been there when I walked into the bathroom. I go into the kitchen to find her sitting on the kitchen table. At least she wasn't standing, but the kitchen table is not the place you want to find your 1 year old. Our table is no longer a safe place to put anything and she can reach the edge of the counters now too.

You'll notice there's a bookcase in the background. That's been her obsession today. I walked out there, when she got too quiet, to discover her trying to climb it. It's definitely not stable enough to be climbed and there's plenty of items (breakable and not) to fall on her. Pretty much, all day long, I've been chasing her around, trying to prevent her from climbing, getting into trash cans and toilets, mixing clean and dirty laundry, and removing her clothes from her drawers. I can't be everywhere at once and I was going crazy. Luckily, she's sleeping now. When she wakes up, hopefully I won't find her hiding in her closet, like she was earlier today.

Despite driving me nuts, she's getting pretty interested with the toilet. She peed on it yesterday morning after she first woke up. I cheered so loud, I hope I didn't scare her. This morning we tried again, but I don't think I caught her before she peed in her diaper. She did grunt and let out a lot of gas though. We tried several times before and after breakfast and each time, she'd grunt and act like she was going to poop, but each time, no success. She ended up going in her pull up and then she started crying. She seemed really mad at herself. While sitting on the toilet this morning, I asked her if she was done and she looked at me and said, "Wan beat Nae!" I guess she's in a competition on who will be potty trained first.
