stubborn, stubborn, stubborn

I just had to end up with a daughter as stubborn as I am. We've been trying to wean her off the bottle, something I should have started months ago. She gladly drinks water out of a cup, sometimes a sippy, but she absolutely refuses to drink milk out of anything but a bottle. Today I really pushed the issue. I wasn't going to cave in and give her a bottle if she refused the sippy. The temper tantrum started the second she realized it was milk coming out. I tried every kind of sippy cup in the house (5 different types) and the tantrum just got worse. Scott tried to help, but with no success. Adia was tired and getting more upset by the minute, crying, whimpering and nearly hyperventilating. This went on for 45 minutes before I eventually picked her up, in hopes I could calm her. I calmed her so well she fell asleep, never drinking an ounce. Adia's not a big eater in the first place so every bottle counts. We need to switch her to a sippy, but it's like we're walking a very fine line. No bottle, no milk, no weight gain. I really don't know what to do. I know she's supposed to switch to whole milk at a year and I've already started mixing a little in to her formula, but I don't know how she's supposed to get the nutrients she needs. Ahh! Why is motherhood so tough?

On a more positive note, we went to Build-A-Bear yesterday. We did it last year for Valentine's Day and I though it would be fun for Adia to make one. She picked the turtle. I asked her what she wanted to name him and she said, "Gib!" So his birth certificate says Gib. She seemed to really enjoy it until it was time to stuff him. The stuffing machine sounded like a vacuum cleaner so she got really upset and started crying. I walked away with her while Scott finished stuffing Gib. Then Adia picked his clothes. She went for a jean jacket with a hoodie underneath and some black converse sneakers. Gib turned into a pretty good learning toy. He's got a coat to zip, shoelaces to tie and snaps.

We had another rough night last night. More teeth? On the verge of walking? I don't know, but a good night's sleep would make a wonderful Valentine's day present. We had a good morning though. Adia won't eat the french toast I make her, even if it's cut into fun shapes. She did play peak-a-boo in the bathroom with the shower curtain though. I missed the shot of just her feet sticking out, but the one I took was cute anyway.

Adia's Britax Marathon is supposed to arrive today. She's going to be rear facing for another 15+lbs, but at least it will be roomier. I hope she likes the cow print I chose.
