Rhody Weekend

I keep telling myself I'll sit down and write a blog about this last weekend, but I've just been too tired or Adia wants to snuggle. She's been super snuggly these last couple days. She also wants to snuggle with the babies and often uses my belly as a pillow. She was doing that this afternoon after her nap and Baby A kept kicking her. Adia thought it was the funniest thing ever.

Adia and I drove back to Florence Friday morning. I wanted to go later in the day, but Adia knew where we were going and who we were going to see. She just wouldn't let me have any peace until we were in the car. Once we were in the car, she kept saying, "Going to DiDi's house? Stay with DiDi?" She was so excited. I honestly thought she was going to stay awake for the whole drive, but she soon fell asleep. She was upset when we got in DiDi's house, but DiDi was still working. We walked over to see her and Adia was shell shocked. She did get to draw on the chalk board and saw Gramma too. After school, we headed over to the book sale. Adia was in heaven. She couldn't believe all the books. She got more than enough and couldn't wait to read them. Before eating dinner, we also went to the park.

Saturday was the kiddie parade. We were also supposed to see Tanae and Lexi. Adia hasn't seen them in ages and kept asking about them. Adia enjoyed the parade, especially the fire trucks, but fell in the driveway before it started and skinned her knee pretty badly. She was really upset by it, but liked getting a bandaid.

Tanae, Lexi and Heather arrived after the parade and it was instant hugs. We went for a walk and then headed to the park. Adia had a blast having other kids to play with and really seemed to hit it off with Lexi. Adia's been asking to see them all week so hopefully we can have another get together.

We got to keep Tanae and after some playtime at DiDi's house, we went down to the carnival in Old Town. It was nearly impossible to find a place to park, but we ran into Unky Eck in the parking lot! That made Adia happy. He walked with us and we soon met up with Gramma and Papa too. We bought cotton candy for the girls. Adia wanted blue and Tanae asked for pink. Adia soon looked like a smurf, but she was so happy. She loves cotton candy.

After getting their fill of cotton candy, DiDi and Papa took them on the Merry-Go-Round. I didn't know how Adia would do since her last ride was a year ago and she wasn't a fan. I should have known she'd absolutely love it. Tanae looked a little scared and didn't smile, but she also didn't want off the horse when the ride ended. Adia wanted to stay on so bad that she started crying when Papa pulled her off. They rode it a second time and when the ride ended that time, neither kiddo complained much.

While we were waiting for Colie to join us, the girls got to fish for a prize. They both thought that was pretty cool since it's like the fishing game at Gramma and Papa's and they were guaranteed a prize. Adia quickly picked a pink and purple lizard. Tanae looked frightened and wouldn't choose. DiDi eventually got a yellow lizard for her. Both girls loved their lizards.

We had just enough tickets for one last ride. Colie took Adia and Eck took Tanae on the airplanes. It was another how would they react moment. Adia was all smiles. That kid is going to love roller coasters when she's big enough, but Tanae looked pretty freaked out. I think Eck's her new favorite person though.

After the airplanes, Adia told me, "All done Mommy. Go back to DiDi's house now." They were both very very tired. We walked back to the car and DiDi and I were really surprised that they didn't fall asleep in the car. We got into pjs, brushed teeth and crammed into DiDi's bed for some Carebears. Adia passed out almost immediately. Tanae was another story. Adia didn't sleep too well and was up with the sun. She jumped out of bed and climbed back in with DiDi. She was nice enough to let Tanae sleep a little longer, but it was obvious that it wasn't long enough. DiDi tried to let me get some extra sleep, but with two crazy girls running around the house, it just wasn't going to happen.

It was the big parade day so we took the girls to the park before it. They ran around like crazy and Adia went down the big big slide a few times. Tanae went down it once, but that was more than enough for her. When I told Adia it was time for the parade, she said, "Go to parade, get candy?" How does she remember this stuff? I thought she slept through the last two Rhody parades.

We fed the girls before going to our places and Adia was happy to see everyone. She has her own personal fan club. Tanae was excellent through the whole parade. She sat and watched, eating the cereal that DiDi brought with us. Adia wouldn't sit still though and had a couple meltdowns. I knew she was tired. Adia's great uncle bought her and Tanae some balloon yo-yos though. Adia thought it was awesome, but she kept hitting everyone with it.

For the few minutes she was actually calm, she sat in my lap. I found a ladybug and Adia was captivated by it. She even wanted to hold it and she was very careful. She said it tickled.

It was the longest parade I'd seen in years and the girls were going a little stir crazy by the end. It's not the greatest picture, but I think it sums up how we were all feeling by the end. I love that they all have the same expression on their faces.

And the girls started pushing the boundaries. Adia was the ring leader for sure. Tanae was staying on the grass, but Adia kept getting closer and closer to the sidewalk. She was eventually on the sidewalk and Tanae followed suit. Adia got in trouble and Tanae quickly backed up.

Both girls were incredibly cranky and tired after the parade. Part of it was the late night and part was the sun. We put them in the car after we couldn't get them to settle down at home. DiDi drove me to meet Gramma for lunch and not long after that, both girls were fast asleep. Adia slept for quite a few hours, but then woke Tanae up by crying. Adia was also covered in a rash in all the places the sunscreen had been. She was itching her neck like crazy. We put her in the tub, but she just kept crying and itching. I covered the rash in hydrocortisone cream in hopes that would help and we stopped to buy Zyrtec before heading out to Gramma and Papa's for dinner.

Adia was starting to feel better even though the rash was still very visible. She didn't eat much for dinner, but Tanae chowed down. She even had seconds! They took a a bath together and Tanae learned to build with lincoln logs. Adia knocked down her first house, but left her alone after that. They were soon both playing with Papa and Eck. Tons of giggles and squeals. Neither one wanted to leave, but we were getting tired. As they were getting strapped in the car, Tanae told Papa that she loved him. It was so sweet.

We all climbed in DiDi's bed for stories when we got back. Adia didn't last long. She was just too tired. She wouldn't give Tanae a hug even though we told her multiple times that Tanae wouldn't be there in the morning. When Adia woke up in the morning, she was very upset that Tanae wasn't still there. She was even more upset when DiDi headed to work. Adia and I had a lazy morning until Daddy showed up. She was surprised to see him. We went out to Gramma and Papa's house so we could all go to the beach. Adia immediately dug into the sand and helped dig a big hole with Daddy and Eck. She also ran from the waves with Papa, Daddy and Eck. I would have more pictures, but I took the moment to lay down on a blanket and rest. Adia only came running over to me once, when she sat in the water.

It started to get cold on the beach so we jumped back in the jeep. Adia played with Gramma's hat, but soon fell asleep. She was out cold. I thought she woke up when she got pulled out of the car, but I was wrong. When I walked into Gramma and Papa's living room, Adia was asleep on the chair. She slept there for the longest time and woke up just before dinner.

After dinner, Adia wanted to play with chalk, but it was too cold. She begged Eck to blow bubbles instead. That was a winner. She ran in circles trying to pop them all. She also managed to blow some herself.

Adia soon settled in the living room with Papa and Gramma watching Madagascar. She was super tired, but didn't want to go home. We eventually pulled her away and went back to DiDi's house. Daddy had to drive back home, but Adia and I stayed another night.

Adia was upset that DiDi had to work in the morning, but was more than happy to play with her after school. We walked to the park and played for a little bit before dinner.

We went out for dinner and Adia had a burger. She ate the whole thing and kept saying it was a good burger. Adia didn't want to drive home so I gave her some time to play and some ice cream to eat. Then DiDi got her to change into pjs. We held PigPig and then it was time to leave. It was already getting late. Adia fell asleep in the car and slept through being put in her bed.

She cried for DiDi when she woke up in the morning, but I kept reminding her that she'd see her again soon and we'd also be swimming in the evening. That made her happy, not to mention Daddy was in the house.

Adia had a wonderful, long weekend. Her rash finally started to disappear on Tuesday. It flared again on Monday after being in the sun so I'm not entirely sure it was a reaction to the sunscreen. Today she fell while playing outside with Daddy and hurt her right foot/ankle. She cries if she puts weight on it so she might be making a visit to the weekend clinic if it's not better tomorrow morning.

We also had an ultrasound and doctor appointment on Wednesday. Baby A is still head down and now weighs 3 lbs 7oz! Baby B is still head up and now weighs 3 lbs 3oz! I'm in shock. I now have more baby in my belly than when Adia was born. Adia also didn't break the 3lb mark until 31 or 32 weeks. These girls are growing like weeds. I also found out I didn't pass the 1 hour glucose tolerance test so I have to do the 3 hour test on Tuesday. So not looking forward to that. Adia will have fun hanging out with DiDi though. Both babies are looking great, but the ultrasound showed some fluid around Baby B's kidneys. It's just something we have to watch, but the doctor's not really concerned since Baby B still has a tons of fluid so her kidneys are definitely working. Hopefully it's nothing.
