Easter Weekend: Part 2

Sunday morning, Adia and I went over to Gramma and Papa's house. Adia immediately began terrorizing the cat. She's normally really good with the cat, but not this time. We put the cat out and Adia then bugged Colie to chase her. The ran all over the house until Colie got tired. Adia then begged for a fort. Gramma built her a fort and Colie and Adia sat in it together. Adia was on the chair and Colie, on the floor. Adia was perfectly happy.

It was soon time to dye eggs. I wasn't so sure how that would go because I remembered how Tanae was last year. I took off Adia's shirt and put on her apron. She sat up at the counter and looked thoroughly confused. I helped her put an egg in the dye and after a few minutes we took it out. Adia was surprised with it's change in color. It wasn't long before we started hearing, "I can do it!" and she began refusing all help. She cracked several eggs, but seemed content on letting them sit as long as possible in the yellow. She actually wouldn't let anyone else use the yellow dye.

Adia wouldn't let us put her clothes back on after she dyed eggs. She ran around the house in just a diaper. Every time we asked her if she wanted to put on her dress, she'd yell, "No!" and run away. The only reason she ever got her dress on was because we told her Papa was home. The second we told her that, she went running to the chair where her dress was sitting and yelled, "My dress," with her hands in the air. From the moment Papa walked in the door, Adia was glued to him.

Papa had even made an Easter Egg hunt for Adia. He'd put a couple M&Ms in 10 different eggs and hid them around the living room. Once Adia knew what she was looking for, she was off. We only had once mishap when she grabbed one from under a table and came straight up, smashing her head against the table. She was horribly upset at first, but was back to hunting eggs within minutes.

Adia wanted her dress off so she could eat dinner, then wouldn't eat anything. She just wanted to play more with Papa.

After they played for a bit and dinner got cleaned up, it was time for Papa's birthday cake and presents. As Papa was bringing the cake to the table, candles lit, Adia blew them all out with one good blow! It was the funniest thing ever and I wish we could have had it on video. Then, when Gramma was trying to relight them, Adia blew out the candle and match! After we sang Happy Birthday, Papa and Adia blew out the candles, but Adia's blowing ability had dwindled. She could barely get one to go out. Of course, once the candles were out, she immediately tried to take a bite of the cake like she did on her birthday. After she finished her slice of cake, she helped Papa open his cards. She likes to open cards.

She had chocolate all over her face and started asking for a Papa bath. She loves taking baths in their bathtub since it's so big. She was in the tub for the longest time. Papa let her wash her own face, but she wouldn't believe him that she had chocolate all over her face. When he showed her in the mirror, she said it was silly. After her bath, we had a naked baby on our hands again. She just doesn't like getting or staying dressed. I put her back in her dress, hoping I could get pictures of her with her bunny ears on. The second I set her in the chair, she started screaming. She ran to DiDi for protection and DiDi cheered her up by fishing.

I made one more attempt at a picture, but Adia just wanted to go home and sleep. I did manage to get one though!

The next morning DiDi had to go to work, but Gramma and Papa didn't. We went out to breakfast and then drove on the beach in the jeep. Before we left the house, Adia showed off her candy thieving skills. While I was in the shower and Scott was in the living room, she headed into the bedroom and opened Scott's bag of Easter candy. When I got out of the shower and walked into the bathroom, Adia was sitting on the bed eating jelly beans! She gave me the biggest grin. I couldn't help but laugh and I let her have the rest of the jelly beans. I called for Scott too and he never even knew she had left the living room!

Adia hadn't slept long enough the night before so she was pretty tired. She was excited to go to the beach, but there was an ice cold wind. We couldn't really get outside and play in the sand or run from the waves. Adia ended up falling asleep after just a few minutes. Gramma did get out and walked part of the beach while we stayed in the jeep. Papa drove farther down the beach and we ended up finding a really pretty clear agate. When Adia woke up, I handed it to her.

We headed back to DiDi's house. Adia played and hung out with Papa and Gramma for a bit while watching Carebears. Adia wanted to go see DiDi's class so we got ready to leave. Papa and Gramma went home and Daddy drove back home too. Adia and I walked over to school and Adia was so excited. She got mobbed by kids while they drew on the chalkboard. Before all the kids left for the day, Adia gave several of the girls big hugs. Then it was time to run around the empty classroom. DiDi handed me a few books to read to Adia, including Green Eggs and Ham. It was an instant hit. I think I read it at least 4 times before Adia was bored with it. She wouldn't stop pressing buttons on the computer or rocking in DiDi's chair. She soon followed DiDi into the faculty room and stole an apple off the table.

We ate dinner before going back home. DiDi came too, but we had to go in different cars. Adia was very happy to have DiDi still. I had a hard time getting her to sleep for the night, but she was all smiles when she woke up with DiDi next to her. Daddy and I headed to an ultrasound and doctor's appointment and Adia stayed with DiDi. She didn't even care that we were leaving. She did give us hugs though.

The ultrasound went well. Both babies are now head down and still growing like crazy. We didn't get any good pictures because neither baby was very cooperative. We got a doctor's note for our insurance too. We have another ultrasound tomorrow with the high risk doctors. Adia will be joining us for that one.

Adia also had an eye doctor appointment yesterday to check her lazy eye. We've definitely noticed an improvement and so did the doctor. Adia was even able to do some of their color blindness tests and other vision tests. She was actually really cooperative and she was definitely tired. We go back in June for a full eye exam.

Afterward we went to the bookstore. We were missing some key books, including Green Eggs and Ham and Ten Apples Up On Top. Adia threw a temper tantrum in there because she didn't want to leave. It was horrible. She only calmed when DiDi held her. It was then back home for dinner and bed. Adia was asleep by 7:30 and slept in her bed until 6:30. I was dead on my feet when she wanted to get up, but she let me snuggle with her in bed until 7:30. Then it was time with Daddy and I got to go back to bed for a bit. Adia was a goofball when she woke me up later. We had a tickle fight and she was all giggles. I love mornings when she's like that.

The rest of the day she basically ignored me though. She only interacted with me when she wanted something that she couldn't get on her own. She was bouncing off the walls when Daddy woke up. She wasn't interested in dinner, she just wanted to play with Daddy. She knew it was a swimming day. We loaded up in the car and drove to the pool. We waited in the parking lot for Gramma and Papa.

Sadly, the pool was closed for repairs! Adia was super upset. She kept saying, "Fix the pool?" She desperately wanted Daddy to fix it so she could swim. We decided to go get pie instead. Adia got a burger, but only ate some fries dipped in mustard before climbing in my lap and falling asleep. She was super tired. She woke up as we were leaving and was a total cranky baby. She was only half awake when we got home and not making much sense. After a diaper change and several renditions of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, she was asleep. I hope she sleeps well tonight.
