Buddy Bear

Adia got to take home the class bear. She was the first one and super excited about it. He spent the night and then we had to write in Buddy's journal about his time with us. It was cute and I remember DiDi used to do the same thing with a stuffed frog in her class. I decided I'd also take pictures and send them back to school with the journal. Adia's teacher thought it was cute.

The twins started soccer last week. To my surprise, Mira absolutely loved soccer. She was completely in her element and didn't want to stop. Leia was done halfway through. She spent most of her time throwing the ball down the field. I think we'll sign her up for tumbling once soccer is over. At least it's only 4 weeks.

This weekend, our local police department had their annual open house. They have all sorts of activities for kids, there's tours, take pictures with the K9 unites and you can check out the SWAT vehicle, patrol cars and motorcycles. The girls loved getting to crawl all over the vehicles and pet the K9.

Survival

We survived our first full week of school! Phew. I was a nervous wreck making sure I got Adia and Mira to school and picked up on time. I'm always worried I'll be late to pick them up so we end up being insanely early. Leia will spend her time looking in the window asking "Where's Mira Moo? I can't find Mira Moo! Oh, dere she is." Then we repeat the procedure at Adia's school, but this time it's in stereo and they are desperate to find Adia.

Leia also survived 2 days this week of being home with just me for 2.5 hours. She asked for Mira several times, but when it came time to put shoes on to go get her sisters, she didn't want to leave. She was enjoying the quiet (yes, it was crazy quiet!) and make believe play without anyone stealing her toys or pestering her.

On Wednesday, when Daddy was home, Adia and I rode bikes to her school. She did a terrific job staying on the sidewalk and she only crashed twice. She's actually really good at catching herself before crashing. She did fall on the playground and skinned her knee. She told me she didn't cry and her teacher was shocked that she didn't. She's a tough cookie and it was a pretty bad scrape. I told her she was taking after me. All the scars on my knees were from accidents on the playground.

The twins enjoyed some quiet time today while Adia was at school. We rode bikes to school and I pulled the twins in the bike trailer. When we got back, the twins watched Care Bears (their newest obsession) while I got on the elliptical. And this is how my children like to watch TV.

Our life is about to get even crazier. The twins start soccer next week and I have another PTO meeting. Adia also wants to take a drawing class, which I'm considering. I think she'd be good at it and it would be good for her eye hand coordination. Her tumbling class doesn't start until next month.

And our guinea pig is still around. He's been ignored lately, but I did need to clean his cage. Since Adia and Leia were busy watching Avatar: The Last Airbender with Daddy, Mira got to hold the piggie. She was one happy girl. However, when I was done cleaning the cage, I walked out into the living room to find the cat sitting next to her on the couch. Yikes! He's been trying to find away into the pig cage and spends a lot of time sitting on top of the cage.

First Days of School

Mira started preschool yesterday! Ack! I'm still in shock that she's old enough for that, but so extremely happy too. New kids for her to play with and so much to learn. She was so excited. She walked right in, sat down on the rug and was ready to go. I think she had to great day. She wouldn't really talk about what happened, but she was happy and bouncy coming out of the classroom. I got a huge hug from her so I think she might of missed me.

Leia, however, missed Mira terribly as did Adia. Leia still can't go to preschool because she refused to use the toilet. They have a no diaper rule so she's out of luck. We're trying, but Leia just won't. We're hoping that after she sees Mira enjoying preschool that she'll change her mind. She's just so stinking stubborn.

After we dropped Mira off and got back in the van, Leia kept asking "Where's Mira moo? Why isn't she strapped in?" She didn't understand why we left Mira because it had always been Adia before. Adia's reaction surprised me the most. She's always fighting with her sisters and complaining about how they bother her, but she actually burst into tears! She wanted her Mira back and spent most of the morning asking if it was time to pick her up. Luckily, Adia is in morning Kindergarten now so she'll be completely preoccupied while Mira's in school 2 days a week.

Adia's first day of Kindergarten was today. I debated setting an alarm last night, but I figured the girls wouldn't over sleep. I was more than right. Mira popped up at 6:15am. So it was definitely an early morning and Mira's been whining, fussing and crying for most of it. When she doesn't get enough sleep, she's a crank butt.

Adia requested chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast so that's what I made. The girls devoured them and then it was time to walk to school. I love living close enough that we can easily walk. Adia wanted it to just be the two of us, so we walked together. I swear she powered walked the whole way there even though I told her we were way too early and she could slow down. We were about 20 minutes early, but that let me take some pictures of her.

We had to wait for the doors to open, but once they did, she quickly put her backpack and coat away and found her spot. No tears were shed and that always makes me happy. I'd much rather have the kid who barely says goodbye as opposed to the one who won't let go of my leg.

I can't wait to hear how her day went. I bet she has an awesome time. Her teacher promised me that she's seriously over protective of her kiddos so she won't let Adia get any gluten. She even bought Adia some chocolate covered pretzels for a special treat. How awesome is that?
