Finger Paint

If there's one thing I know about Adia, it's that she hates getting dirty. She hates getting food on her hands, or mud, or sand, or dirt. She freaks out and immediately wants to wash her hands. It's hard to get her to wait until she's finished eating to get cleaned up. At least it's made it a bit easier to get her to use silverware. She always wants to have a napkin nearby, preferably in her lap, and wipes her face, especially if she's eating ice cream.

It's pretty funny to watch her and I was wondering what she'd do with finger paints. We picked some up at Target today. I was thinking we could make Valentine's cards, but was a little worried about what she'd do to my kitchen in the process. I didn't need to worry at all. She kept to her usual "sticky hands!" freak out and hardly made a mess at all. I set several pieces of paper in front of her and a few dollops of paint. She was clueless about what to do! I demonstrated a little bit at first and when Adia dipped her finger in, she looked very alarmed.

I encouraged her more and more and eventually she started smearing it around a bit. Every few smears, she pick up her hands and say, "sticky hands. Wash hands?" She really seemed to enjoy it for a bit and made some pretty pictures. She liked telling me where to squirt the paints.

I think her favorite part though was the bath afterward. She told me she was done and wanted her bath so I took off her bath and plopped her in the tub. The paint easily dissolved and I didn't have to scrub at all.

Adia Burrito

Adia slept over 12 hours last night. She did try to get up at 6:30, when I had to pee, but I convinced her it was still dark outside, therefore it was still night night. It worked until about 7:15ish. She definitely popped out of bed when she heard Daddy at the front door. She had a huge meltdown last night when he left to run errands. She was screaming and pounding on the door, trying to open it and screaming, "My daddy back in! My daddy!" It was sad. When she finally calmed down, she fell asleep nearly immediately. Daddy wasn't home yet, though so when I came to bed a few hours later, Adia partially woke up and said, "Hug my daddy! Want my daddy!" before I calmed her back down. When she heard him open the door this morning, she bolted for the living room, yelling, "My daddy! I hold you daddy!" She was all about her daddy.

Despite sleeping so long the night before, she still crashed around 1 today. She was sitting next to me on the couch and I could tell she was getting sleepy. I knew she was going to crash. I felt her head getting heavier and heavier and she was soon out, wrapped around Purple, her hippo. I carefully laid her down on the couch and she slept for another 2 hours. She's such an angle when she sleeps and luckily, she woke up a happy little girl.

She wouldn't eat after she woke up, even though I tried. Papa and Gramma soon arrived and Adia was super excited to see them. Gramma gave Adia her new birthday quilt. It's for her new big girl bed, which we still have to put together and buy the mattress for. Adia absolutely loves her new quilt. It's several Ariel fabrics and some moon and stars in Adia's favorite colors, purple and teal. Adia played with it for ages with Papa. She likes making Papa burritos and he likes making Adia burritos.

We woke Daddy up and headed to get something to eat and some ice cream. We haven't had Cafe Yumm in ages and it was good, even though Adia wouldn't eat it. She was only there for the ice cream anyway. She enjoyed riding on Papa's back.

She picked her ice cream, chocolate with M&Ms, but didn't eat much of it. Papa ended up finishing it for her.

She went in the book store with Daddy and Papa, but didn't actually pick out a book. She had a tantrum instead so no book for her. We only got her out of the store by telling her she could play in the fountain.

Now she's sitting on her new blankie, unloading Gramma's purse. I have a feeling I'll be sleeping with her new blankie tonight.

Sunny Days

Adia had another good weekend with DiDi. We went out to lunch at Chapala and Adia practiced blowing bubbles in her ice water. She loves drinking out of cups with straws because she can blow bubbles in them. When she finished eating, she asked for ice cream. She knew exactly where we were. We got ice cream at Cold Stone, but Adia was more interested in running around than eating.

After ice cream it was a stop at Old Navy. I was hoping to get some more maternity clothes, but their maternity selection has dwindled to almost nothing. Adia got some cute new clothes though, including some jeans that actually fit! She has a million shirts, but it's been nearly impossible to find pants. Adia insisted on carrying her bag since she knew everything in it was hers.

Adia was horribly upset when DiDi went home on Sunday. I did manage to get her smiling and giggling though. We ate dinner and then went to DQ for some more ice cream. Adia had a free kid's cone to use and chose chocolate ice cream. She was doing really well eating it by herself, but then she tipped the cup and it all spilled out. Luckily, I think she was about finished with it anyway so she didn't get so upset.

Daddy, Adia and I had fun on Monday. We went to the play area at the mall. Adia ran around and went down the slide a few times. Then we went to lunch at Chili's. Adia was exhausted though and ended up falling asleep before finishing her food. She was zonked! We took her home and she continued to sleep.

Today was another sunny day so Adia and I went outside. She wore her new coat and wanted her new hat too.

Her hat didn't last long though because it made it difficult for her to go down the slide. There were other kids at the play equipment, one girl was only a few months older than Adia! They played pretty well together, but Adia still wouldn't swing with her. Adia's just not a swing fan. She wasn't as a baby and she still isn't.

They had actually brought chalk outside and let Adia join them. Adia loved it. When the other kids got sidetracked with other games, Adia picked up all the chalk and the chalk bucket and started carrying it around. She would trade chalk pieces even.

I think Adia really enjoyed seeing the moon during the day though. There wasn't a cloud in the sky so the moon was easily seen. That excited Adia. She also liked the school buses. She's a big bus fan.

Now we're back inside and Adia's playing with Little People. She never napped today and is doing surprisingly well. I need a nap though, but I don't think I'm going to get one.
