Adia's been incredibly silly lately. She had no reaction to the shots, which was awesome. She never needed Tylenol, never ran a fever, wasn't tired or cranky. She did that after her 1 year shots too.

Adia's wearing Daddy's Hat

We headed out the door Thursday to pick up some things at the store, but Adia didn't want to get in the car. We headed to the playground instead. Adia went down the slide a couple times, but complained that the slide was hot.

After Scott woke up, we went to Blockbuster. Adia always wants to wear a hat and sunglasses when we go anywhere anymore. That hat usually doesn't stay on, but the sunglasses do. She'll actually ask for them if she didn't put them on inside. As you can see, baby usually accompanies us too. She sleeps with her, rides in the cart with her and usually goes for walks too.

DiDi and Tanae arrived on Saturday. Adia had been talking about them for days as soon as I told her they were coming this weekend. She woke up Saturday morning saying, "My DiDi, Ta nae?" When I told her they were downstairs, we couldn't move fast enough. We went grocery shopping and then came back to play.

Grocery shopping was interesting with both kids. Neither of them wanted to ride in the cart and Adia only wanted DiDi. She wanted nothing to do with me. When we came home, we ate some lunch and Adia ate almost a whole can of Dinty More stew on her own. She really loves that stuff. While they were playing, Adia tripped on a toy and went flying through the air. She smashed her head into the corner of the wall. It instantly bruised in a line and started to puff up. It's definitely the scariest fall we've had. I called the triage nurse who gave me all the signs to look for and since Adia never lost consciousness, wasn't disoriented and pupils were still responding, we didn't take her to the doctor. I did have to wake her up every 2 hours, all night long, to make sure she could still wake up.

In order to keep them from getting more hurt, we took them somewhere else to play. We went to the play area at the mall and they had a blast. Adia got knocked down, of course, but she only cried a second. We shared ice cream and checked out the puppies and kitties. Both girls threw a fit when we tried to leave.

Waking Adia up all night long was rough, but when I barely twitched this morning, she jumped up. She's obviously fine and her head looks much better today. It's no where near as swollen and there's just a small bruised line down her forehead. It's going to look really bad in a few days though.

We went out to breakfast this morning. Both girls were wild. Then we went back to the play area. Once again, Adia got knocked down. We had better luck leaving the play area because Adia decided it was time to leave. A bunch of wild, too old kids had been dropped off by their parents and left. They were running around, totally oblivious to the other, much smaller children around them. After Adia got knocked down, she was ready to go. We checked out the puppies and kitties and then shared Orange Julius.

We drove around extra long in the car to get both girls to fall asleep. Adia fought it, but was finally down for the count. When we got back to the house, Adia and I took a 2 hour nap together. It was heaven. Tanae didn't sleep nearly that long. Adia was so happy to see her when she woke up, but she was also starving. We'd missed lunch. She gobbled some cottage cheese and then went back to playing.

DiDi and Tanae go home tomorrow. Adia's not going to be happy about that.

18 Month Appointment

I took Adia to her 18 month appointment today. I was hoping for a larger weight gain and growth, but I should be happy with what she did gain. She's been looking so skinny lately and it's been impossible to find her pants that fit. They all end up half way down her butt. She's now 20lbs 6.9oz and 30.2 inches. I swear she seems taller. She's in the 5th percentile for weight and the 10th percentile for height. She's definitely a petite pixie. Her doctor's not worried either. She said that Adia's been maintaining her own curve, except for a slight little blip up, but now she's back where she started. If she had suddenly dropped off the chart or had been way higher and dropped, then we'd worry, but she seems perfectly healthy.

Adia is always so good at the doctor's office. I think she genuinely likes her pediatrician too. Adia let her know that she's got quite the vocabulary and knows her body parts. Adia gladly let her listen to her heart and lungs and check out her ears, but her mouth was another story. At home, you say "Can you go Ahh?" and stick out your tongue and Adia copies. Today, she totally refused to open up. Her doctor did comment on Adia's serious mouth of teeth. We're just waiting for her 2 yr old molars now. And her canines are SHARP! You don't want to be bit by those.

We talked about a referral to a pediatric GI. She agreed it would be a good thing since we're still gluten free and the allergy stuff came back negative. She started the referral procedure today so we'll see what happens. My only frustration is Adia will no doubt have to do a 6 week gluten trial. That scares me greatly. I don't want to see my little girl in pain and also risk her losing even more weight. I just need to keep reminding myself that if we get answers, it will be totally worth it. Then Adia can be protected when she's in school too.

Adia did have two shots today, DTP and HepA. She only cried for a second, while she was getting poked. Then it was back to wanting to be held and "Shoes on!" She got a sticker before we left and wanted to play with the kitchen set instead of heading to the car. I did get to make her a 2 yr appointment while she was preoccupied. She fussed a little in the car on the way home and every time she saw her bandaids, she said, "Owie!" I gave her Tylenol when we got home, tried to get her to eat lunch and then I accidentally fell asleep on the couch while she was playing. I was only out 15 minutes and she woke me by throwing toys.

Not long after that, Scott got up and Adia followed him back to bed. We ended up taking a 2 hour nap. It was wonderful. I didn't want to get up though, but Adia insisted and it was time to make dinner. Adia wasn't interested in dinner, she just wanted to play. And play we did. Scott attempted a nap, but Adia kept running into the bedroom and then running back to me in the living room. She'd run into my arms, give me a huge kiss and then run away again. She was laughing and squealing the whole way. We also built a huge lego tower. Adia had fun dismantling it.

I eventually got her to sleep at 9:45. She did not want to calm down even though it was obvious that she was tired. For a kid that got shots today, you could never tell. Normally she's groggy afterwards. Now that she's asleep, I better join her. Otherwise I'll be even more exhausted tomorrow.

Excuse the absence, we've been without internet since Sunday. We came home from dinner with Gamma and I couldn't connect. We tried restarting the computer, turning the router off, unplugging it. Eventually Scott called Qwest. After telling them what model number we had, they told us we'd be seeing a replacement by Tuesday. Apparently our model gets power surges that eventually fry them. So we're now on our third router. Our first one died within a couple months and was replaced by the service tech that came to check why it wasn't working. Something tells me it fried itself too. Our router arrived yesterday and we spent 2 hours trying to set it up. My computer wouldn't register the router wirelessly after it had already been set up through firewire. It was annoying, but Scott once again called Qwest and they easily fixed our problems. Scott's computer wouldn't connect either, but tech support was able to get it to work. It's wonderful being connected again. I don't know what I'd do without the internet! While we were without internet, I took some awesome pictures. It was horrible not being able to share them with anyone or order prints of them. Gamma was here on Sunday night while coming back from Portland. We went to dinner at Outback. Adia had a blast with Gamma. They colored and played games at the table. Adia wasn't too interested in eating though, but she'll eat when she's hungry, right?? I keep telling myself that since she hasn't been eating very much of anything. When we got back to the house, we took pictures outside. I've been desperately wanting a good family pic and we got a couple cute ones. I just wish Adia would have kept her fingers out of her mouth. I'll even take a pic where she's not smiling, as long as we can see her face. We'll have to keep trying, but I'm sure we'll get one. She had fun with Scott and the leaves too.

Monday was spent running around. We dropped off movies at Blockbuster, renting Boom Blox (totally recommend it to anyone with a Nintendo Wii. I'm sore from playing!) and Adia picked up Milo and Otis. Every time we've gone in there, she sees the kitty and puppy on the front and starts kissing it. I finally agreed to buy it for her this time. It was brand new and only $6, so it wasn't that bad. We went to lunch at the Olive Garden, something we don't normally do. There's nothing there that Adia can eat so I brought a meal for her from home. She sat in a big chair in a booster and was really well behaved. She even had a Sunday for dessert. She ate with a spoon, all by herself, and did a really good job. She dripped a little on her dress, but not enough to really make a mess. She's definitely getting better at feeding herself. We wanted to go to Borders or Toys R Us, but Adia was quickly reaching the point of no return. She was cranky and tired and I had a horrible time convincing her to get back in her car seat. We let her watch and few minutes of Milo and Otis when we got home and then wrestled her into a nap.

Adia woke up just in time for dinner and actually ate some of the food I prepared. I generally cook gluten free in hopes she'll eat what we're eating. Inevitably, the times I'm eating something she can't have are the times when she wants whatever I have. She wouldn't eat the meat part of dinner, but she did eat her rice pasta. She drank her peach juice, but wouldn't eat the actual peaches. That drives me a little nuts when that happens. She soon wanted down from the table, but didn't want to take a bath. I swear she's on a bath boycott. It's hard to get her interested in baths again when it used to be her favorite thing ever. She did enjoy climbing in the Pull Ups box though.

Yesterday Adia was carrying around a box of mac and cheese. When it was time for lunch, I asked her if she wanted mac and cheese for lunch. She squealed and ran into the kitchen, yelling, "and cheese!" the whole way. After lunch and the fiasco with the router, we needed to pick up Scott's bike from the shop. I was getting my internet fix so Scott had to dress Adia and get her ready to leave. Whenever she has mac and cheese, I strip her down to a diaper because she ends up orange. Adia came running out of the bedroom, yelling, "Shoes on. Bye bye!" and heading for the door. I look up to see her in the most mismatched outfit ever. I laughed so hard so Scott had to change her again. It was an improvement and Adia did add the sunglasses and hat after picking her own shoes. She reminded me of a movie star trying to go unnoticed.

We jumped in the car and then dropped Scott off at the bike shop so he could ride home. From the moment he closed his door until we parked in the grocery store parking lot, Adia didn't stop saying "Daddy? Come back. Daddy? I love you. Daddy?" Her cries got more and more frantic the longer we drove. She seemed ok in the store, but when we got back to the car and she was strapped in, the "daddy?"s started again. We got her down for a nap, but then Scott and I fell asleep too. It's always nice to nap when she naps. We all woke up right before I needed to start making dinner and Adia was crankier than when she fell asleep. Scott managed to sidetrack her by coloring and soon had her laughing again. We ate dinner and Adia actually ate some chicken, but nothing else. She refused a bath so she played with Scott while I washed dishes. They discovered a new game. Adia likes to play dodge ball. Only problem, she doesn't exactly dodge the ball. She likes to run head first into it, but the laughter and squeals are the best things ever. She also developed a "happy dance" that I was able to get on film. It's the funniest thing ever. When you ask her to do the happy dance now, she'll do it!

I managed to get Adia to take a bath this morning. I had to bribe her with a bubble bath. She splashed water everywhere and it was like I took a shower too. After her bath we had fun taking pictures in the mirror. Adia loved it and seemed upset when we headed back to the living room.

We snuggled up for some popcorn and candy. Adia was sitting next to me, leaning against me with her head on my shoulder. I didn't think much of it until I looked over and noticed her eyes were closed. She fell asleep! She was out cold. I moved her to my lap and after a few minutes transferred her to her bed. I can't believe she fell asleep like that. She woke up later than normal today and didn't go to bed very late either. Tomorrow she has her 18 month appointment so I hope she stays awake through that.
