Just when I was starting to get worried...

Adia does something to put my mind at ease. What did she do? She actually ate what I was eating, black beans and hamburger. I was actually eating tacos, but she wasn't a fan of the avocado. She did like the beans and hamburger though. I plopped it on her tray, thinking there was no way she'd eat it and instead, it went right into her mouth. Every piece I dropped, she ate. She was a bigger fan of the hamburger than she beans, but it's definitely progress. Maybe she'll be open to eating more things now. She also finished off a yogurt.

On the yogurt front I'm happy too. Safeway stopped carrying the apple and mixed berry Yobaby yogurt. It's the only kind that has iron in it and Adia likes it the most. I was only able to find peach and pear, without iron. Well, after a trip to Market of Choice, Adia has her yogurt again. They actually had flavors I've never seen before. They even had YoKid yogurt that comes in a squeeze tube. We'll have to try it when Adia's older. Perhaps we'll freeze it.

I gave Adia a bath tonight and she was an angel. She splashes on command now. She gets so excited about it. She also tried to say cup. I love that you can tell her the name for objects and she tried to repeat them. We definitely know she understands. She'll also point at objects and look at you with a confused look.

Ok.. getting attacked.. must go.

Hello Toofers!

When I thought sleep issues couldn't get worse, it did. Adia refused to go to sleep before 11 yesterday and then was awake, screaming at 1:30. I got her back to sleep with a bottle, but then she wanted to be up for the day at 6:30. I don't think so. Mommy needs her sleep. Scott was nice enough to take her when he got home and she fell right back to sleep. Naps are still not going well either. She did take a good one today and one yesterday, but it's totally random when she wants them. I try to keep them at the same time everyday, but it's just not working.

Part of the whole problem is because of her teeth. Her two top front teeth are finally popping through. Yesterday her left one broke through and now the right one is working it's way out. It makes her so miserable. We've been dosing with Tylenol, but it doesn't always make it all better. She prefers to bite instead.

can you see my fangs?

Adia was in a fabulous mood yesterday though. We played most of the day and we were both in hysterics. She kept making funny faces and babbling at me. She was also climbing all over everything. We had a chair that DiDi gave us for Christmas last year. We never used it when Adia was young because she didn't seem very interested in it. She discovered it in her room yesterday and it's become her favorite thing. She likes to climb into it and sit down. She'll just sit there and play happily or take a quick nap.

At dinner last night I gave her a chunk of bread. I kept telling her it was bread and she responded with a word very similar sounding. I think she'll definitely be talking before she's walking. She didn't want to leave the table at all.

Once she was in the bath she was happy though. She took the longest bath and thoroughly soaked Scott by splashing. She's really into splashing now. If only we could get her to stop standing the tub though. She's going to hurt herself one of these days. I spent the next 4 hours trying to get her to sleep or should I say I spent the rest of the night trying to get her to sleep.

Today we spent with Gamma G and Unky Eck. We went to lunch and then to Costco. Adia didn't want to ride in the cart so she ended up on my shoulders. That made her perfectly happy. We made a quick stop at Petsmart, which made Adia very very happy. They had some humane society cats and dogs there. I let Adia look at the cats and said they were kitties, meow meows. She responded with, "Meow!" She desperately wanted to pet them. She also liked the puppies, but I bet they weighed more than she did. They were certainly larger. She also enjoyed the goldfish, birds and guinea pig. She was really mad that she couldn't pet him. While she was looking at him, she forgot that I wasn't supporting her and she stood by herself. We then headed to the mall. Adia got a new sleeper and a couple long sleeved t-shirts. She'll be styling now!

We picked Scott up and went to dinner. Adia didn't last in the high chair though. She sat in my lap and ate a cracker while I ate my dinner. Then it was home and bath time with daddy. She splashed a bit, but he managed to stay out of the splash zone. I think she may sleep well today. She's seems really tired already. She's screaming at me again...

Not much to report. We're mostly just recovering from being sick, but Adia's still having diarrhea issues. She's not going through so many outfits a day anymore, but she is on her second sleeper for tonight. At least she's started eating normally again. She'll finish a whole yogurt and drink at least 24oz of formula a day. She still has her horrible cough though.

Adia started pointing at everything she wants. It's really cute and pretty effective. She was just pointing at Scott, but now, if it interests her, she points at it. Yesterday I was running a bath for us and she was standing next to the tub in her diaper. She kept looking at me and pointing at the water. Then she's smile and jump up and down. She's really good at letting us know what she wants. She'll also point at her sippy cup or puffs when she wants them.

We put the baby gate in the bathroom to keep her from the toilet. She gets really mad when we're on one side and she's on the other. Today the bathroom door was open and she crawled in there. I wasn't too worried since I could see her and she couldn't get near the toilet. Big mistake! Apparently she can close doors when she wants, but can't get them reopened. I looked down for a second and when I looked up, the door was closed. As I was getting up, the screaming started. She realized I was on one side of the door, I was on the other and she couldn't get to me. So there I was, trying to push the door open while she was sitting behind it, pushing it closed. Eventually she moved far enough back that I was able to wiggle in and grab her. She had tears streaming down her face and her forehead was all splotchy. We'll definitely be keeping the bathroom door closed, and latched, at all times unless we're in there too.

Sleeping hasn't been on Adia's agenda lately, which means it hasn't been on mine either. We had one good night where she slept until 6:30am in her crib and then until 9 next to me, but it hasn't been like that since. She's been up constantly and every time she wakes, she starts screaming. The only thing that makes it stop is a bottle. It seems that she knows she's about to lose bottle time when she hits 1 year. She's always loved her bottle, but it's like it has become an obsession. Soon as she hits 1, bye bye bottle, hello sippy cup. We've been trying lately, but she refuses. At least she'll drink water out of them.

While Adia was playing today, she reached up and turned on the stereo. We didn't even know she could reach that high, but with one easy movement, the music started. She seemed pretty proud of herself and started dancing. She was really mad when Scoot turned it off. She tried turning it back on, but didn't have any luck the second time.

Her Little People dollhouse is a favorite toy now (along with all her other Little People toys). We finally put batteries in it. She particularly loves the cats. She'll press on them, listen to it "meow" and then mimic the sound. We thought we were just hearing things the first time she did it, but she's repeated it several times since then.

Adia's started doing the "tada" again. She does it on cue, most of the time, unless there's a camera present. I did get some of it on video though.

Now it's time to get Adia to sleep. She's half asleep in my lap right now.
