Almost got it!

Success!!
Her next parlor trick of the day as using my leg to pull herself up. She's only ever done this before with a little help, but today it was all her. Once she was standing she looked up at my with the biggest grin on her face. It was like she had climbed Mt. Everest. She then steadied herself on my leg and took several steps towards the glider. It was only about 6 inches, but once again, you could see the look of triumph on her face. Little did I know that she only wanted to walk to the glider because she could see the digital camera case sitting on it. She took several steps while holding onto the glider just so she could reach the case. The second she got it, she smiled again and started to chew on it. She still doesn't know that she has no balance. She let go and fell sideways. She didn't cry when she hit, just looked totally stunned. She rolled to her side, looked at me and held out her hands, with the case still in her grasp. It's easy to see what she values.

I set her back in the middle of the living room so I could do some laundry. She immediately started screaming because I was out of her sight for 10 seconds. The laundry basket was just around the corner. When I popped my head back around the corner, she smiled and went back to playing. She gave me enough time to put the clothes in the wash before crying again. This time when I tried to put her back to sitting, she arched her back and cried louder. That's when I smelled it. I was expecting an explosion, but I guess the cheese yesterday plugged her up a little bit. It was a really sticky smelly one. After I cleaned her up, I changed her into a onesie and babylegs. I thought she looked ready for Halloween, so I had to get some pictures. We had a mini photo shoot in our living room.

She started to get cranky so I made a bottle and attempted to get her to take a nap. She fought me, but eventually I won out. The only problem was I couldn't move because she was on me. She slept for over a hour and my arm was completely asleep when I finally moved it. Of course that woke her up, but at least she was smiling. We then started playing on the floor. She was in a great mood. At one point I even had her laughing at me. She then worked on her climbing skills again and used me as as starting point to reach the couch. This time she could see the dvd remote. She stood there, balancing against the couch and straining as far as she could reach to get the remote. She succeeded and held it like a trophy. I had to take it away, of course, but we then went back to playing.

Out of the blue she'd get fussy again and start crying. No matter what I did, I couldn't make her happy. She'd just cry and cry with tears streaming down her face. I had to carry her wherever I went, including the bathroom. She sat in the hallway while I transferred clothes from the washer to the dryer. The whole time she was intermittently would cry. I still have no idea why. I managed to get her to take another nap, but this one didn't last nearly as long. She woke up happy though. We played more on the floor. I held her over my head and she'd grab my face and try to bite me. Not too fun for me, but hysterical for her. It was a great feeling to make her laugh like that though since she normally only does that for Scott.
Scott was late coming home so I had to start dinner with Adia sitting in the living room. I was hoping she'd stay put long enough for me to get things going. When she'd start to get quiet, I'd peek around the corner and she'd be playing and watching the news. The next sound I hear from her was a happy squeal and when I peeked around the corner this time, I saw Scott. She's given him a huge grin when he came in the door. She'd probably been wondering where he was all day since he'd left before she'd gotten up.
Adia had a good dinner. She refused to eat her baby food, but liked everything we were eating. She ate some grits, which I already knew she liked, and then tried some hardboiled egg yolk. She wasn't so sure about that in the beginning, but didn't spit it out either. She was able to pick up every puff I gave her and put it in her mouth. For dessert she had a biter biscuit. She really went to town with that thing. She was waving it around and then chomping down. She even ate the small chunks she managed to break off.

Bath time was fun too. Her face was covered in biter biscuit goo. I didn't take a bath with her tonight, instead we tried out our new bath mat. It wouldn't stay attached to the bottom of the tub and kept floating up around her. It looked like she was on a magic carpet. At one point she even grabbed a corner and started chewing on it. She was splashing and having a great time until Scott tried to wash her face. Then she got mad and just wanted out. It was a pretty short bath, but her face got cleaned. I put her diaper on and then gave her to Scott for the lotion and pjs. She tried to crawl right off the counter and refused to hold still for him. Somehow he managed to get her dressed though.

I was waiting on the couch with a bottle. She happily took it and we cuddled while she drank. She tried to doze off after only an ounce, but I tickled her until she drank more. After she had downed 4oz, I was hoping she'd sleep. She had other plans. She started arching her back and smiling at Scott. I handed her off to him since she'd hardly had any Daddy time today. When she started to get fussy again, he tried the bottle. She finished it, but would not got to sleep. She instead started crying. I took her back while he made another bottle. I had her drinking for a little while, a very short while, but she started arching her back and pinching me. I gave her back to Scott and she was all smiles, but those quickly turned to tears again. When I took her back, she looked at Scott, smiled and went, "Ha Ha." It was hilarious. She still wouldn't let me get her to sleep and eventually I gave up. Scott put her back on the floor and she started rolling and playing. I don't know how I'm ever going to get her to sleep tonight. She's normally asleep by 9 and now it's almost 10!
