New Coat

Adia didn't fall asleep until 11 last night and it was a fight getting her there. She just doesn't want to go to bed anymore. She slept straight though until 6:30, but woke up a grump. She was whining like crazy and driving everyone nuts. My mom got her to go back to sleep until 9:30. She was happier when she woke up. She was even happier when Scott got up. She hadn't seen him in a day. She was happy to see me too, but all eyes were for daddy.

We still wanted to find Adia a winter coat and run a couple other errands so we all got ready to go after breakfast. We bundled Adia up in shoes, new jeans and her pink sweater. Our first stop was Old Navy. We found Adia a perfect coat. It's still a little big and poofy, but it's also warm and waterproof. It's the first coat she's let us put on without screaming. We also picked up several more long sleeved onesies that are super cute and some new fuzzy pants. We also grabbed a new pair of denim overalls, but we'll have to take them back tomorrow. She needs one size bigger because she already has the ones we got and they're too short. We should have just gone there yesterday. They also had some really cute girly sweaters and boots. After Old Navy we stopped at Bed Bath and Beyond for a wedding present. Adia wanted to grab everything. Luckily she was in a good mood because it took forever for them to horribly gift wrap it. We're going to have to buy some wedding paper and wrap it ourselves it looks so bad.

We made a quick stop at Blockbuster on our way home. She was hungry and did not want to be in the car seat so she cried all the way home. When we got back my mom gave her a bottle and she quickly fell asleep. She was so asleep that my mom was able to lay her down. She didn't sleep much longer, but she gave me a huge grin when she woke. She woke up right before my mom and I were about to eat something, which is pretty typical. She played on the floor while we ate and then we tried some puffs. She'll actually pick them up now, but her pincher grasp isn't the best. She got a few of them in her mouth, using both hands. It was cute to watch her chew them with her little front teeth.

Since it was between rain showers we thought we'd go for a walk. I wrapped myself in the Moby and my mom helped me position Adia. She complained at first, but once I stood up, she was kicking her feet. We put a hat on her and my mom helped me put on my maternity raincoat. It was cold outside so we zipped up the coat. All that was sticking out was Adia's head and feet. She really started kicking then. We walked my usual 2.5 mile walk. Adia stayed awake the whole time and was looking at everything. We even saw a couple nutria. When we got back her nose and cheeks her pink and her hands and feet were cold. Her head and body were warm though.

It was already after 6 so my mom got her ready for dinner. I got her food ready and warmed up some of the cooked sweet potatoes from dinner a few nights ago. I thought she might like to play with them on her high chair tray and possibly get a little in her mouth. She ate some of her pears and turkey with sweet potatoes, but she mostly wanted to squish and smash the sweet potatoes around. She got a couple pieces in her mouth, but got tired before she really got into it. She didn't want her sippy cup, but she did try to suck her fluoride right out of the dropper.

Bathtime was short. I think it was because she was so tired. She played for a little bit, but my mom only got a few seconds to wash her off. She cried when my mom laid her down to dress her. She looked happy when she saw the pjs though. I went and made her 6oz since it was obvious she was hungry and tired. She snuggled with my mom and fell asleep for a little bit after only drinking 2oz. We thought for sure that she was out, but just minutes later she woke back up. She drank all but 1/2 oz and started screaming. My mom tried burping her and moving her, but nothing would calm her. Pretty soon Adia was saying, "mamamama" so I took her. She grabbed ahold of me like a monkey and wouldn't let go. I cuddled up with her on the couch and she finished the bottle. I was hoping she'd go back to sleep, but instead she sat straight up and tried to get back to the floor. I set her down and she started playing until she tried to crawl again. She gets stuck and starts crying.

My mom changed her diaper and gave her back to me. Adia was rolling around in my lap and being totally silly. At one point she was chewing on both hands at the same time. When I picked her up again, she noticed she smelled like puke. My mom changed her and brought her back to me. She was still being a goofball and went after the tag on the pillow. Then it was back to bouncing in my lap. I flipped her around to notice a bunch of puke on her chin. My mom wiped her off, but of course she had gotten her new pjs. My mom changed her again and washed her off. I guess 6oz might have been too much at one time. After a lot of griping and complaing, my mom took her and rocked her. After a few minutes of screaming, Adia calmed down and eventually fell asleep. It was obvious she's been tired for a couple hours, but she fights it so hard.

I just love that picture of the two of you warm and cozy, like a kangaroo and her baby!
