Last night was even worse than the night before. I honestly didn't think that was possible. After going to bed at 8, she was up at 9. I managed to rock her back to sleep, but she woke up 10 minutes later. That time rocking wouldn't work. I gave her Tylenol, teething tablets and a bottle and back out she went. For 10 more minutes. After that, it was constant screaming. She didn't want a bottle, she didn't want to be rocked. She screamed being held or left in her crib. We eventually couldn't take it anymore and tried the whole cry it out thing. Can we say disaster? She stopped crying for a few seconds once I closed the door and left the room, but then it turned into hyperventilating, hysterical, gagging crying. I was seriously losing it. I was already sleep deprived from the night before and her crying wasn't helping. Scott said he'd take her for a bit and try to get her to sleep. The second my head hit the pillow, I was out. Scott managed to get her to sleep for a little bit, but at 12:30 I woke to her blood curdling screams. This time Scott was losing it. I fixed a bottle, grabbed Adia and brought her back to bed with me. I fell asleep feeding her and she must have fallen asleep eating because when I woke at 4am, the bottle was still in her mouth. That grossed me out and made me worry about her tummy and teeth, but everything seems to be ok today. She normally finishes the bottle and drops it. This time, 3 hours later, she still had a death grip on it. I pulled hard enough and got it out of her mouth. Since it didn't wake her, and I was totally sore from sleeping in the same position for so long, that I thought I'd try to lay her in her crib. I succeeded and hoped I wouldn't hear anything until 6:30. She woke at 5:30, bright eyed and bushy tailed. It was still dark out! I tried to get her back to sleep, but it was no use.

Just like every morning, into the jumperoo she went. She started jumping like crazy and then the grunting started. I thought it was all sound because I didn't hear anything else so I let her jump a little longer. She wasn't complaining. Big mistake. When she did start to fuss and did pick her up, I could see the stain starting on the back of her pjs. "This is gonna be bad," was all I could think. Sure enough, when I opened her diaper and rolled her onto her side, I saw that there was more poop on her pjs than there was in her diaper. It was everywhere. I stripped her and cleaned her off without spreading it too much. Into cloth she went and I had a definite load for the washing machine. At least my experience with poopy cloth dipes helps me get the poop out of clothes. There had been so much poop on the pjs though that it soaked through to the towel that covered her changing pad. That got thrown into the wash too.

After that nasty diaper, I thought we'd try breakfast since she was only in a cloth diaper anyway. She ate 1/3 jar of sweet potatoes and a few bites of pear mixed with oatmeal. She gave me a funny face with the first bite, but didn't mind the next few. She managed to get sweet potatoes up her nose again. I dressed her and she played on the floor awhile before our walk. Since it was cold and drizzly this morning, she wore a lomg sleeved thermal onesie, denim overalls, uggs, her pink sweater and pink hat. She looked so cute bundled up. I'm glad she doesn't mind the hat. Our walk went really well too, despite the weather. She fell asleep within 10 minutes of leaving and slept until we got back. Her cheeks got flushed from the cold and her hands and feet were like ice. Grandma DiDi was waiting when we got back and I think Adia was surprised to see her.

before and after, she woke up before I could take a picture

I took my shower when we came back and Adia played with DiDi. Then we had to pick up some cloth dipe stuff. We transferred Adia's car seat to my mom's car and off we went. She smiled and played in the backseat. After picking up the order, we headed to Walmart to do a little shopping. I forgot to Bijorn and her cart cover so we had to carry her. 15 lbs gets heavy fast. My mom and I had to keep trading back and forth. On our way back from Walmart, Adia fell asleep. I didn't want to wake her so for only the second time, I took the car seat out of the car with her still in it. If I thought 15lbs was heavy, Adia and the car seat was much harder to carry. I got her upstairs and inside with only a couple breathers. She continued sleeping for maybe another 15 minutes, but I had to ruin her nap by taking a picture of her. Whoops. She woke up happy at least.

asleep in the living room

Adia hung out with DiDi and Scott for a little bit. She also ate some lunch while sitting on DiDi's lap. We wouldn't have done any solids, but Adia kept reaching for the slice of pear my mom was eating. She ate 1/3 jar of sweet potatoes and a few bites of pear. It was her first midday solids experience. Shortly after eating, Gamma G and Auntie Colie arrived. She was happy to see them and couldn't stop staring at Colie. She's always fascinated with her. We left for Costco shortly after. Adia loves Costco and her love of it is doubled by being in the Bijorn. She started kicking her feet and squealing in delight. I also managed to feed her a bottle while walking around, which knocked her right out. Her head was at the oddest angle because she was facing out. People kept pointing and smiling at her. Everyone always comments on how cute she is. She may be a little full of herself when she's older if people keep it up.

After Costco, my mom went home to see Tanae and we spent time with Scott's mom and sister. They made a stop at shopko while we went into Petsmart. We showed Adia the hamsters and guinea pigs, but she absolutely loved the birds and fish. I think we'll have to get a fish tank one of these days. She'd be entertained for hours by one. Scott was holding her up to the tank and she got so excited that she kicked, hitting the glass and scattering the fish. After that stop, we went to eat dinner at Olive Garden. Normally she'll sit in the high chair and happily play with her toys, but this time was different. As soon as she saw us eating, she wanted to be held and fed too. I tried holding her and eating, but soup and babies don't mix. Scott's mom took her and held her through the rest of the meal.

eating a coaster at the Olive Garden

After Olive Garden, we went to the mall. Colie and I were supposed to get pedicures, but it was getting late and they were swamped. While she primped, the rest of us went the JC Penny. Scott's mom got her a couple cute onesies and a sweater. Adia was starting to get cranky, so we said goodbye and headed home. Once home, Adia had her dinner. She ate another 1/3 of a jar of sweet potatoes. She opened her mouth big every time, but she had other opinions about the pears. She got two bites down, but on the third she gagged and I honestly thought she was going to puke. She didn't, but now likes to brandish her tiger like a mace. It makes feeding her rather interesting and dangerous.

Bath time went well. She sat for all of it and started banging cups together. She would be eating one and then grab another cup and bang it against the one she was eating. She was loving the noise she was making. I gave her Tylenol afterwards and tried to feed her, but she wouldn't settle. I gave up and let her get on the floor and play. She didn't really get all her normal playtime today. She played for at least 30 minutes by herself, but then fell over and started fussing, Scott got on the ground with her and she attacked him. She was all smiles and near giggles before acting really tired. She drank 4 ounces before falling asleep. I put her in bed at 9, but she woke back up at 9:15. When I picked her up, she let out a big burp, but then started screaming. Nighttime baby orajel, teething tablets and another ounce later, she's asleep in my lap. I'm hoping I can lay her down and she'll sleep for at least a few hours. Otherwise, I guess we're co sleeping.
