We got started on our walk this morning a little late because I tried to feed Adia before we left. She was ok with the sweet potatoes, but I shouldn't have dared try something new on her. I tried applesauce. Not only did she look betrayed, but I've never seen her spit something out faster. Oh well. I'm still working on getting her to open her mouth more often. After she "ate" I had to clean her off, as always. I set her in the bebepod on the bathroom counter after stripping her down to a diaper. I washed her face and hands, then dressed her, while sitting. She gets really mad if you try dressing her while she's laying. I've decided I'll pick my battles and that is just not one I'm willing to fight. I can dress her sitting and that's what makes her happy, so I'm good. I did have to lay her down to change her diaper. She never complains about that, instead she went after her bib.

Getting fed by Scott while sitting on the couch

Playing with Daddy!
It was soon time to take Scott to work. Adia fell asleep in the back seat again. I can only imagine what she thinks when she wakes up and Scott's not there. She was a little cranky at first, but after a quick diaper change, I got her to go back to sleep. She slept for over a hour! I was starting to wonder if there was something wrong. She never sleeps that long during the day. Of course she was partially on me so I couldn't move the entire time.
She was VERY disoriented when she woke up. After taking several minutes to fully wake up, we went for a walk to get the mail. I wanted to try the stroller out again too. Our stroller may be light, but it's awkward to get downstairs while holding a baby. Our apartment complex is also not very stroller friendly. There are hardly any ramps, it's all stairs and curbs. Adia got jiggled all over the place, but she didn't seem to mind. I also discovered that the sun shade is super adjustable, however, Adia's still too short for it to be very effective. She'll be there eventually though. We walked the entire loop and came back. Adia enjoyed the breeze and the scenery.
When we got back it was dinnertime. I put her in the high chair while I got everything ready and washed all her bottles. She was fine until she saw her spoon getting close. She started screaming blood murder. I tried soothing her, but she just got more and more hysterical. She had tears streaming down her bright red face and then she started coughing. I took her out of the high chair and was finally able to quiet her. She spent the rest of the meal in my lap, where she actually ate a few bites off sweet potatoes, but mostly tried to grab everything I was eating. She refused to open her mouth, but she wanted the sweet potatoes. I hope she figures it out soon because she gets really frustrated.
It was then bath time. I set her back in the bebe pod so I could get the tub ready. While I was getting the hair out of the drain, the whole drain cover came up. Not exactly what I expected, but at least I figured out why out tub hasn't been draining very fast. I think I found all my pregnancy hair. It was nasty, but Adia was preoccupied with the baby in the mirror so I was able to clean it out.
Tonight's bath was much better than last night's. Adia actually wanted to play. She let me lay her back to wash her hair. She smiled at me the whole time. It was that "mommy, I love you" smile that makes you want to cry and hold her and never let go. Eventually she wanted out, but I don't think it was because she was tired of the bath. I had my arm around her back and she kept snuggling against it. I think she wanted some cuddles. She enjoys some of her independence in the tub, but probably misses the skin to skin with mommy.

I think this is my all time favorite pic
I set her on the counter, facing the mirror to dress her. She pretty much ignored the baby in the mirror and instead went after me. She wanted to chew or suck on any bare skin she could grab. It made dressing her very interesting and I eventually had to lay her down. She didn't mind. She just stared up at me with her big blue eyes, smiling the entire time.
We snuggled on the couch for a hour and a half before she was finally asleep enough to be laid down. I guess she needed her mommy cuddle time. I wonder if she's starting to teethe. I can't feel anything and she won't let me look. I guess we'll find out soon enough. I guess, even though she's getting older and more independent, she'll always need her mommy. I know I do when I don't feel well.
