I don't know how she does it

Adia had sweet potatoes for breakfast. She had that totally surprised look on her face with the first bite, but then started licking her lips. She turned everything orange though. She grabbed one of the spoons and started splattering sweet potatoes around the kitchen. They were all over her face, in her hair, coating the tray. It was a big mess, but she looked happy.

Even though she doesn't look happy here, I promise she really was.

I stripped her down to her diaper while she was still sitting in the high chair. She was very confused by this, but I only wanted so much orange on me. I took her into the bathroom and set her in the bebe pod while I cleaned her up. She did not want me to wash her face. I even put her onesie on while she was sitting there.

After her diaper change and some pants, we headed out for our walk. She was babbling to me at first, but then she got quiet. Somehow she managed to fall asleep. Her head was bouncing all over the place because she was forward facing in the bijorn and there's no support for her head except herself. She slept the entire time (30 minutes)and only woke up when I turned off the music. She woke up happy and a little confused, but she enjoyed the walk back to the apartment in the fresh air. It's been raining today so it's cool and refreshing outside instead of hot and humid.

We woke up Scott when we got home so I could take a shower. Adia was surprised to see him, but happy. I took my shower and when I got out, Scott needed to vacuum up any remaining glass in the living room. I played with Adia in her room until he was done. She had perfect timing because just as he finished vacuuming, she started acting hungry. I gave her a bottle and she drank all 4oz. Then she wanted to play with daddy. They played for a bit before going in the jumperoo. She actually jumped this time, but also discovered that the sun spins.

Then it was another bottle and a little nap on daddy. If only we could manage to get her to sleep in her crib for naps. She woke up just in time for lunch. She always seems to have perfect timing. She sat in her high chair and played while we ate. She was a perfect angel. After I had cleaned up the kitchen she was acting hungry again. She ate an ounce, but then wanted to play. She's getting so good at sitting on her own. She still uses her whole body to reach for toys though and that can lead to disastrous consequences. She's getting better at righting herself if she leans forward or back.

It was soon time for Scott to head to work and Adia was back in my lap. We did horsey ride for a bit and then the upside down dangle. I couldn't distract her well enough though. She watched Scott get ready to leave and it was easy to tell that she didn't want him to leave.

Not long after he left, Adia started to get sleepy. We cuddled up on the couch with a bottle and took a nap together. I woke up before her, but not much before her. I must have slightly twitched because she woke up suddenly and way too soon. She immediately started whining and fussing. I couldn't get her to go back to sleep or make her happy. She did get sidetracked with a video on my laptop though. She was completely enthralled and started crying when I closed my laptop.

napping on mommy

I had been craving chocolate all day, but of course had none in the house. I thought maybe a trip to the store would cheer her up a bit. I was right. She loves going places and a sweetheart at the store. One lesson I learned though: don't put the grocery bags on the back seat next to the car seat. Adia can stretch and reach A LOT farther than you can imagine. She was already attacking the bags before I had even gotten out of my parking spot. Babies and children must be attracted to dangerous items.

Once home Adia started rubbing her eyes and fussing. I made her a bottle and she dozed in my arms for a little bit. She was in a better mood when she woke up, which was great since it was dinnertime. I set her up in her high chair and scooped some sweet potatoes out for her. She was eating her tiger and watching every move I made.

She did eat most of the sweet potatoes, but it took two spoons and a lot of distraction. She stole both spoons before we were done and even threw one on the floor. When she had captured a spoon she would wave it around and bang it against the tray.

She ended up thoroughly covered in sweet potatoes, but since dinner is always followed by a bath, it's not too big of a deal. We did the same bath technique as we used last night. She didn't splash as much with her hands, but was very intent on catching her toys. She did really well and only fell over once. That was toward the end of the bath and the reason she wanted to get out. She laid down for a bit too so I could wash her off and she was all grins. The only problem we had though was with all the splashing she did, she splashed water into her eyes, thereby dislodging some sweet potatoes that were dried in her eyelashes. The sweet potatoes ended up in her eye. I had a very upset baby that I had to hold to get the sweet potatoes out. Luckily they came out pretty easily and she forgot the whole ordeal. The only sign anything had happened was her bloodshot eye.

Before her bath

Showing off her birthmark

If I thought she was talkative and smiley in her bath, I had another thing coming for me afterwards. I set her on the counter and she went crazy talking to the baby in the mirror. I don't think a smile ever left her face. She was touching the mirror, but would then suddenly lean forward and she hit her forehead more than once. I won't be surprised if tomorrow she has a bruise or bump on her forehead. She never cried though. I think she was too engrossed with the baby to care.

Checking out that beautiful baby

She wasn't interested in sleeping after her bath. She did want to eat, but not sleep. I propped her next to me and we talked to each other for 30 minutes. She was so happy just talking. Then she started to get tired and with another ounce she was off to dreamland. She went to bed early tonight. We did her bath a half hour early and she fell asleep a half hour early with no crying. Maybe we have a new schedule. I'll be going to bed soon too (as long as another picture frame doesn't jump off the wall).

I love all the pics, but especially the first one! I think one of these times, she may gag herself with the spoon! Too cute! Josephine gets very excited to look at her "friend" in the mirror too. Thanks for sharing!
