blissful sleep

Adia woke up about a hour after I laid her in her crib. She was screaming. I picked her up and rocked her, but the screaming just got louder. I rubbed some orajel into her gums, which made her mad at first, but the second it kicked in, she closed her eyes. She fell asleep almost immediately so now we know it's her teeth that are bothering her. She then slept until 1:30. At 1:30 Scott took her and gave her a bottle. She drank all 4 ounces and fell right back to sleep. She then slept until 6:30. When I went to get her, she was laying on her tummy, trying to roll over, but not having any luck. I changed her diaper and set her in the jumperoo. She was playing with the toys more than jumping.

Within minutes though, she was grunting and just seconds later she wanted out. The moment I picked her up, I could smell it. I looked at the back of her pjs, but didn't see anything. I was hoping it was all in the diaper, but it wasn't. It was all the way up her back and partially around the sides. Once again, a pamper. I'm still waiting for the rest of her nighttime cloth dipes to arrive before she wears them at night too. I put her in cloth and got ready to feed her breakfast. She had sweet potatoes, pears and oatmeal again. She enjoyed the sweet potatoes, but wasn't really interested in the pears or oatmeal today. It was then time to get her ready for our walk.

I had to super bundle her today because it was so cold out. She had on a long sleeved onesie, cotton pants that I tucked into her uggs, a sweater, hat, the hoodie on her sweater pulled up and a blanket wrapped around her legs. She didn't look happy about it, but she liked playing with her chicken and keys. They kept her busy for part of the way and then she started crying. At first I thought her mouth was bothering her, even though she had teething tablets and Tylenol before we left, but she was just tired. Once she fell asleep (maybe 5 minutes later) everything was fine. She slept all the way back and through me carrying her up the stairs. She would have slept longer, but the sound of my key going into the lock woke her. She woke up happy, but seemed to have no idea where she was. I unbundled her and her feet, hands and face were ice cold, but the rest of her was fine.

She got a quick diaper and cover change. The cover she was wearing is a size too big and way bulky. She was only wearing it because I couldn't find the smaller cloth diapers when I put it on her earlier. I did find a smaller one at this diaper change though so she went into a smaller cover. She seemed very happy about it and was all smiles while laying on the changing table.

being silly while getting changed

I threw her diapers in the dryer (I was smart to wash them while we were walking) and headed for the shower. She wasn't happy to be in the bouncy chair, but made it through me shower. She only started crying when I got out. Five ounces and a snugly blanket later, she was taking a nap on the couch while not on top of me! She woke once, but after trying to sit up, she laid back down, closed her eyes and went back to dreamland. She ended up sleeping for over two hour and a half hours! I'm really liking this regular nap thing. I hope she keeps it up. It's good for both of us. It was cute when she woke up though. Her eyes were slightly open, not really focusing on anything until I came into view. Then both eyes popped right open and she smiled. Obviously she had a long enough nap.

We did a quick diaper change and it was soaked. There were no leaks though and the cover wasn't even damp. She was all smiles while being changed, and I almost got her laughing with belly blows. We then went and saw daddy in the bathroom. He was shaving and getting ready to take a shower. She was all grins for him, showing off her new tooth. It looks like she's getting the one next to it, but not the front middle one, instead it's the one to the right of it. She enjoyed whispering to mirror baby and making faces at me. Then we headed out to the living room. She's only had a few brief seconds to play with her toys today so she was happy to see them all. She was even happier when Scott got on the ground with her to play. She was standing, only holding onto his hair or ears.

We left early to take Scott to work so we could go to the post office. Adia was fascinated by the post office. She was staring intently at the clerk. She probably liked him so much because he had a beard, just like her Gampa G. After the post office we dropped Scott off. Adia cried part of the way home before falling asleep. Once again, traffic was awful. She didn't wake up when I opened the car door so instead of risking waking her by picking her up, I took her out in the car seat. That's a full body exercise to carry that up the stairs. Once in the house, I made myself something to eat, in the hopes that Adia would sleep for awhile. She woke up about 5 minutes later and wanted to play.

She also seemed hungry so I made her a bottle. I showed her the bottle and asked if she wanted it. She grabbed it and shoved it in her mouth. She was holding it all by herself! She wasn't drinking though. She just kept smiling at me and drooling milk down her chin. I took it away and she sat up by herself. She's growing up so fast.

She definitely wanted to play so I set her down on the floor. She played with her cd player and then started chewing on a mixing bowl. Her teeth are bothering her again. I usually only give her Tylenol right before bed and when she wakes up. During the rest of the day she seems ok. She didn't last long on the floor. I scooped her up and gave her a bottle, hoping she'd sleep. She didn't, but was ready to play again when done. While she played, I washed her diaper covers, new pocket dipes and the inserts. I can't wait for the rest of it to come. Something tells me I'm going to like pocket diapers more that prefolds with covers. At least I can use them with the next baby too and any others after.

Dinnertime was interesting. Adia was crying. I thought it was because her teeth hurt, but after her first bite, she got excited. I guess she was just hungry. It sounds like she says mmm when she tastes the sweet potatoes. It's really cute. She ended up eating 1/2 jar of sweet potatoes, a tablespoon of pears and some oatmeal. As soon as she finishes the jar of pears, I think I'm going to try applesauce or squash. She was in a grabby mood during dinner and kept trying to steal the spoon. I had to sidetrack her with a different spoon, but she managed to get food all over. She had fluoride after dinner and then we headed for her bath.

When I walked into the bathroom, Adia was clinging to me. The second she saw mirror baby, I no longer existed. It was funny to see how excited she was to see mirror baby. She talked to the mirror while I got everything ready. When I set her in the tub, she grabbed two cups and started banging them together. I washed her hair and under her chin. She was all smiles. I didn't think she'd ever want out. Eventually she did and while I was dressing her, she blew a raspberry on my arm! She's never done that before. I'm not sure if it was by accident or she was copying what Scott and I do to her.

After her bath, I gave her Tylenol and teething tablets. She gagged after the Tylenol, but kept it down. She only drank an ounce before falling asleep. I hope we have a good sleeping night.
