Busy Weekend

It was Rhododendron weekend in Florence. There's a carnival, bikers come from all over the country, hotels are all booked, there's a big parade on Sunday. It can be tons of fun and I knew Adia might enjoy some of the sights and sounds.

We spent Saturday afternoon at Gamma and Gampa's house. Auntie Colie, Unky Eck and some of Auntie Colie's friends were there for a BBQ. DiDi also brought Tanae and Lexi. It was a full house and Adia had a blast. She visited one person after another and then the girls all took apart the Tupperware. That's a favorite pastime for Adia when she's there. Who needs to buy toys?

It was pretty late when we got back to DiDi's. I really wanted to take Adia to Old Town to see all the motorcycles and carnival lights though. With three kids, an outing like that takes forever. I jammed Adia's car seat into the back of DiDi's car. I think that took the most time and then we loaded up the kids. Lexi screamed while Tanae and Adia tried to make her happy. We parked and DiDi put Tanae in the stroller and Lexi in the snuggly. Adia rode in the Kozy. We walked Bay Street and I've never heard so many "Oh Wow!"s out of Adia. She loved every single motorcycle and the more noise it made, the better. That really surprised me since loud noises usually scare her. We made our way to the carnival and once again, more "Oh Wow!"s from Adia. Lexi fell asleep, Tanae looked unamused and Adia was excited, but tired. After completing the loop, we got back in the car. Tanae began asking for milk and Lexi started laughing, which got Adia laughing. They laughed all the way back. When we pulled them out of the car, Lexi had Tanae's sippy cup and Adia had Lexi's. Getting them all to sleep wasn't too bad. Adia was already 2 hours past her bedtime. Luckily she even slept in!

Sunday was the parade day. Adia wasn't feeling too well though. She was cuddly and fussy all morning. She did eat a big breakfast though. Adia is the smallest out of the three and it was so funny to watch her shovelling food in while the other two didn't want to eat. Adia has turned into a great eater, most of the time.

Lexi fell asleep before the parade and Adia had a meltdown. I put Adia in the Kozy, DiDi got Lexi to sleep and Gloria put Tanae in her stroller. Gamma arrived then too. We headed up to the parade, with DiDi joining us when Lexi finally woke up from her nap. Adia didn't last long in the Kozy, but also didn't want to stand still. Gamma kept her busy by letting her play in her purse. She soon had a meltdown though and it was obvious she needed a nap. She quickly fell asleep and slept through half the parade. She slept through sirens, marching bands and motorcycles.

She woke up cheerful and really enjoyed the marching bands. She'd dance every time they went by. DiDi soon arrived with Lexi. That made Tanae want DiDi. Lexi ended up in the stroller because she didn't want to stay still. When the parade ended, we headed back to DiDi's house for lunch.

Tanae fell asleep after lunch and Adia and Lexi had time to play together. They were really sweet together, but Adia kept yelling at the top of her lungs. Adia's normally so quiet, but when Tanae tries to sleep, she becomes the loudest kid ever. She did, however, find a cheerio mixed in with the toys. I saw her eating something and pounced on her, only to discover a cheerio in one hand and that she'd swallowed whatever was in her mouth. I was hoping 1 cheerio wouldn't cause a problem, but apparently it does. Within a hour or 2, she started screaming and didn't want any one to touch her. I've never seen a meltdown like it before. It was awful. She also developed a rash all over her body and, before her bath, had liquid diarrhea. One single cheerio was all it took.

Scott soon arrived from Eugene. She was so happy to see him. She got the biggest smile, did her head tilt and ran around squealing. She then gave him a big hug and kiss. She ate dinner and then had several more meltdowns before her bath. She didn't want to take a bath so I had to get in with her. Then she didn't want Scott to hold her. More screaming, hitting and pinching. It was horrible. DiDi offered to take her and let us go to the casino with Scott's parents. I was worried to leave her, but DiDi had her asleep within 15 minutes and she kept her all night.
