The Beach

We took Adia to the beach on Monday. She hasn't been in ages and not since she learned to walk. She fell asleep in the car on the way there. She wasn't just asleep, she was out for the count. I managed to get her sweatshirt on her, even though she was limp and not helping at all. The second I got her out of the car and the wind hit her face, she was wide awake. Her head popped up, her eyes opened and she got the silliest grin on her face.


I carried her out to the water since it has turned into a long hike. She was enjoying the wind on her face and pointed at every bird she saw. There weren't many sea gulls but we did see a hawk with a fish. She thought that was pretty cool.



When we reached the water, I set Adia down. She loved the feel of the sand. She ran around laughing and smiling. She absolutely loved it.



She kept pointing at the water though so I told her we could dip our toes in. The water on the Oregon Coast is incredible cold though. I had a feeling she would either start crying and want to be picked up or actually think it was neat. We had fun dodging waves at first, but when her feet actually got wet, she started crying and screaming to be picked back up.



We got out of the water and headed down the beach. Adia would have walked for miles, if we had let her.



We headed back towards the car and Adia wasn't happy about it. Her tune quickly changed when Scott put her on his shoulders. She always loves that.



Adia didn't want to get in the car. She fought the carseat. I finally got her in and I thought she was going to fall asleep on the way out to Gamma and Gampa's house. She didn't though. When we got to Gamma and Gampa's house, Adia started playing. When she started to get cranky, I attempted to get her to sleep. She screamed for over 30 minutes. I set her on the ground and the screaming continued. Kitty came over to investigate what was wrong and ended up jumping in my empty lap. Adia was not happy that kitty was in my lap and she wasn't. Scott put her back in my lap and she calmed down, gently petting the kitty. In just a couple minutes, Adia was fast asleep. We eventually had to move the kitty because I started coughing and my eyes started itching, but we were happy for quite awhile. I took a short nap while Adia slept 2 hours. She woke up in the much better mood.
