Long Day

Adia slept horribly again last night. She woke up constantly, crying again. Scott went to bed early last night so he took her when she got up at 7. She was happy to have her daddy, but I did wake up a couple hours later to "Mamama!" I guess she wanted someone and was telling them about it. I got up at 9ish. Adia was happy to see me. She did the whole outstretched arm thing. I grabbed myself something to eat and she kept opening her mouth every time I took a bite. I thought maybe she was hungry too so I put her in the high chair. She happily ate fruit cheerios and yogurt. She finished off the yogurt and didn't want to stop eating cheerios.

I call this one, "The Thinker." She's really staring at the kitchen light.

After her brunch, I got her dressed. She fought the whole time. She hates getting dressed and can actually get herself undressed now. Her specialty is taking off her diaper the moment she's gotten it on. It's definitely become a game. We were then headed out the door to look at sofas. We can't keep ours since she can get stuck under it and Tanae uses it like a jungle gym. Some one's going to get seriously injured on it.

The first place we stopped had a good selection and Adia made googly eyes at the sales lady. Adia also enjoyed all the sofas we sat on. She likes the ones with the cushy sides. There were two sofas there that I really liked, but it's going to be a few days, if not weeks before we buy anything. The next place we stopped was HORRIBLE. The place smelled like cat pee. It was disgusting. The third place wasn't much better either and nothing was very appealing. The last place we stopped was way overpriced. Definitely not going to happen, but Adia made the salespeople fall in love with her. She was in a particularly good mood by then because she had passed out hard in the car. One moment she was staring, with a glazed over expression, and the next she was totally out. She actually slept through getting in and out of the car twice before waking up again. She was all smiles at that point. We ended up heading home, knowing our sofa was going to come from the first place we looked.

shopping is hard work

Adia was acting really silly when we got home. I fed her a bottle and she was ready to roll again, literally. She played on the floor for a little while and eventually took off. She's been getting on her hands and knees all day, put still hasn't figured out the crawl. She takes little leaps instead. Today though, she managed to go from belly to sitting. I cheered when it happened and she looked at me like I was crazy. She then proceeded to inchworm/leap/roll across the living room. First she went to the toy bench and then she headed for her jumperoo. She ended up underneath it, trying to grab an Eeyore toy. She looked so accomplished when she reached it.

That's when we decided to go for a walk. We bundled Adia up and headed out. Scott wanted to take the bike trail by the river and I've never walked it so we went on it. It was beautiful out and Adia was kicking her feet. I took lots of pictures. We showed Adia all the ducks and the nutria. She was staring at the trees. She LOVES trees. She just stares at them in awe. When we were almost halfway, she started fussing and crying. She hadn't had a very good nap all day so we knew she was tired. We took her out of the stroller for a little while and traded back and forth. She liked the different vantage point. When we were almost halfway home, we put her back in the stroller. In just a few minutes, she was fast asleep. We made it all the way home with no problems. I took her out of the stroller and put her in her crib and she slept for another 45 minutes while I made dinner and talked with Scott.

She woke up extremely cranky and disoriented. She just kept crying and wouldn't stop unless I was holding her. I managed to get her to eat a couple bites of yogurt, but she just kept crying. I took her into the bathroom while Scott cleaned up the kitchen. She calmed a little bit, but still wouldn't let me set her down. I did everything holding her, which wasn't very easy. I decided to take her temperature too while I was holding her. It came back as a slight fever so that could explain some of the crankiness. I think she's getting whatever I had. Scott came into the bathroom just as I was needing help into the bathtub. He held her while I climbed in, a pout on her face the whole time. She was very happy in the tub though. She splashed like crazy and would turn and smile and Scott or me. It was so sweet. She grabbed the side of the tub when she wanted out and Scott grabbed her. He dressed her and then brought her out to the living room.

Adia was in a much better mood, but wasn't ready to settle down and sleep. She played for a little bit before fussing again. I cuddled her while she finished off 6oz and then 1.5 more. She was definitely making up for today. She was out cold by 9pm and I successfully laid her in her crib by 9:30. I'm thinking it will be a good night because she ate so much before bed. I just hope it is. She seems to sleep better when we go for walks. She likes the fresh air.
