Ride, Adia, Ride!

Adia's tushie is healing nicely. We've had mostly solid poops for the last few days, which is awesome! It's so nice not to use a whole bag of wipes at every diaper change. We're still rinsing the chemicals out and I always end up with extra wipes. I guess I'm still expecting her old nasty, sticky diapers. I think for the first time, in a long time, neither Scott nor I mind changing her. Now if only we could get her to hold still. The second you put desitin on her, she tries to run away. Now that's a big mess to clean up and not a pleasant one.

Her walking is definitely becoming more and more deliberate. She walks between objects, but not when you're looking. You can see her out of the corner of your eye, but the second she sees that you see her, she sits down. Maybe she wants to perfect her walk before she actually debuts it on a grand scale.

She does love to walk around outside though. In the afternoons, we'll go get the mail together. Once we're down the steps, I ask her if she wants to walk and she lunges for the ground. She holds my hand and we slowly make it to the mailbox and back again. It's usually less than 5 minutes by myself, but with Adia, it could be 30+ minutes. She wants to touch the grass, the trees, the bushes. She has to pick up a pine cone and watch the kids playing on their bikes. It's a long process, but it makes her very happy. She'll then crawl up the steps before I pick her up for the stairs.

She's been sleeping ok lately. If she'd stop peeing out of her diapers, she'd sleep better. Sleep crawling seems to be a problem too. I found her half out of bed a few nights ago, completely disoriented, but definitely still asleep. I picked her up and she went right back to sleep. She slept 8 hours straight in her bed two nights ago, but last night she only made it 3 hours. She woke up sopping wet on one side. After a quick change, I brought her back to bed with me. She was then up from 4-5 and then ready to great the sun at 7. One big problem, for the first time in that last year, she was on the edge. When she woke up, she arched her back and I didn't catch her fast enough. She fell off the bed and landed on her head. I was expecting screaming, concussion, broken bones, at least some bruises, but as soon as I made sure she could move her extremities and hear me, I picked her up. Within seconds it was like nothing had happened. I got a little worried when she wouldn't clap though, but after a little coaxing, she smiled and clapped. Her pupils are the same size and she's acting like herself so I'm not to worried.

She's also been taking naps in her bed. It's sometimes a fight to get her to stay laying down long enough to really get drowsy, but we've been successful. It's so much easier to get her into her bed than it was the crib. It also more sheltered back there and she doesn't hear quite as much. She listens to her lullaby music too to drown out some of the outside noise.

Adia's new thing is to eat at the table. If you put her in the high chair with food on the tray, she just throws it on the ground and arches her back. If you push her up to the table and set food on the table, she's one happy girl. She'll eat some of it. DiDi's bringing back Adia's booster on Monday so she'll be able to get closer to the table. Her high chair is too wide and she can't get close enough. More food ends up in her lap than in her mouth.

Adia still loves her trike. We had a couple really nice days before another storm hit. I pushed Adia around on her trike for 30 minutes before I thought my back was going to give out. She steered and held on tight. She also tried to reach the pedals, but she's a couple inches off. Scott says he can't wait to teach her how to ride it. That will be adorable and she'll love it. Anyone know where we can get a tiny helmet?
