Adia and Tanae were a little confused by the pumpkins. Adia didn't know what they were and I'm not sure Tanae did either. They kept trying to pick them up and move them around. Adia thought they were good for standing on. This was all before we even made it on the hay ride to the pumpkin field.
On our way to the hay ride, Adia got sidetracked by chickens. I don't think she's ever seen them up close before. She thought they were the coolest things ever, followed by the goats. Tanae was terrified, again. Adia kept trying to reassure her that everything was fine.
Adia loved the hay ride and so did Tanae. She kept squealing and saying "Whoa!" She was even more surprised when I put her on the ground in the field. Of course the first thing she did was fall flat and get her hands covered in mud. She wasn't so happy about that, but soon had Auntie Colie and Gamma help her out.
We had to veto Adia's first pumpkin pick because it was way too big. The second pumpkin she picked at a worm on it. She thought the worm was pretty cool, but didn't want to touch it. The hay ride came back just as it started to sprinkle. Adia loved the ride back too, even though she accidentally broke the stem off Auntie Colie's pumpkin.
We visited all the animals when we got back. Adia really liked the bunnies and chickens. One of the roosters wasn't a big fan of Adia though. It tried to attack her through the chicken wire. We moved onto the pony and donkey instead. Adia pet her first pony and seemed to really think he was cool. Tanae was too scared to touch him though. After we were almost inside, Tanae started asking, "Horsey?" I felt bad that she missed her chance.
It was then time to weigh all the pumpkins. Adia helped Gampa pull the cart. When we got to the scale, we told Adia we had to put the pumpkins on the scale. She started taking the smaller ones off the cart and setting them on the scale. It was so cute.
We also took some family pics. Adia wasn't exactly cooperative, even though Tanae wanted to be. I finally got Adia to start smiling by playing a game with her. I pretend to drop her and tell her, "Saved your life!" She thinks it's the best gave ever, probably because I've never actually dropped her.
I wanted to buy some yummy farm fresh produce while we were there too. Adia and Tanae went crazy when they saw all the apples, especially the little apples. They each grabbed one before we could stop them and started taking bites out of it. I had to quickly get in line and buy them each their apple. They were two very happy girls after that.
When it was time to leave, Adia decided she had to ride in the same car with DiDi and Tanae. She didn't want to risk them leaving her. We went to Red Robin for lunch and Adia was more than exhausted. Tanae ended up eating Adia's hamburger. I thought Adia was going to fall asleep in her car seat, but she managed to stay awake. Both girls played for a bit before everyone had to leave. Adia was not a happy camper to see everyone go.
And some comparison pics from last year:
