New Car Seat!

The new car seat came today and it's a total hit. I took it out of the box and Adia immediately went nuts. How did she know it was hers? I set her in it to test it out. Once again, she was excited. I adjusted the straps, clipped her in and she smiled and kicked her feet. Scott stayed inside with her (and the giant box) while I hauled the new seat to the car to install. I was a little worried that it would be a tight fit, but it wasn't too bad. It was actually much easier to install than the infant seat. It's also much tighter since the LATCH straps are easier to tighten too. It took two tries though. I planned on installing it using the tether and a floor anchor. I read through the car manual because I couldn't find the anchor. There's a good reason, we don't have them! Since the seat wasn't at the right angle, I had to take it out, roll up a towel and start over. It's in now and it's in tight.

To celebrate the new car seat, we decided to go to Red Robin. Adia squealed and smiled when she saw the new seat in the car. I strapped her in and her feet barely touch the seat back. She'll definitely be rear facing until 33 lbs because I highly doubt she'll get too tall. The Marathon is much taller than her infant seat so she can see out the window. She waved at everything that went by. Of course the picture I took looks like she's flipping the bird instead.

Adia had her first kid's meal at Red Robin. I ordered her grilled cheese with milk to drink. I thought for sure that she wouldn't eat it, but she had to surprise me. She ate more than 1/2 her grilled cheese. She seemed to savor every bite even. She also drank some of her milk. We tried teaching her the whole straw technique, but that didn't work. I poured some into a cup and she drank it that way. There was a little boy, a little older than Adia, that kept waving and smiling at her. Eventually Adia started smiling back. Then the talking started. I really need to get her around other kids.

Now we're back home and Adia's terrorizing the place. At least car rides will be much more enjoyable. Oh.. and she started saying "Thank You" today. If you hand her something she wants, she says, "Thank you."
