Sunday morning we headed back to the coast. It was a fabulously sunny day so Adia was begging to go to the beach. We met up with Gramma and we all headed to the beach. It may have been sunny, but it was seriously windy. Adia didn't mind. She just requested a hat and two coats. She plopped down in the sand with her toys and started filling buckets with sand. Then came the running from the waves parts with Gramma. She was a happy camper.
Adia never wanted to leave, even though she was walking in the direction of the car. She carried a walking stick for a little while, then picked up shells and rocks. We made in within sight of the car and she wanted me to pick her up. I carried her to the car, but the grandmas brushed the sand off and buckled her in.
We had dinner at Gramma and Papa's house. Adia chased the cat, played with toys and was thoroughly entertained by Papa. She crashed on me before we left, but woke up crying when we tried to put her in the car. She was fast asleep when we got home. I laid her on the floor in the twin bed where she slept until 1:30, when she woke up crying for mommy. It broke my heart. We slept on the floor until 6:30, when she woke up wanting DiDi. I plopped her in bed with DiDi and went back to sleep.
After we all showered and Gramma arrived, we packed in the car to head up to the aquarium. We hadn't been since last July and we couldn't wait to see Adia's reaction. She fell asleep in the car and I woke her up with kisses in the parking lot. She started talking about the fishes and "sharps." She was super excited. We stopped at the sea otters first, but she wasn't too thrilled by them. She loved the seals and sea lions though. She was a little freaked out that they were so close and we had to show her multiple times that there really was a window. She was only happy if she was sitting on my lap. A couple harbor seals kept swimming right up to the glass, one nearly hit it and Adia jumped.
Next was the fish and shark tube. I didn't know how Adia would react, but she seemed excited. After showing her once again that the fish couldn't get us, she relaxed. She loved "walking on fish" or walking on the glass windows in the floor. She'd giggle as she ran over them. She was fine until we got in the shark tube and it was kind of dark. She panicked and dragged me out. We made a penny instead with a seal on it. She thought that was pretty cool.
Somehow Adia must have remembered the kid's play area. She headed right in that direction after exiting the tube. She didn't want to play on the animals alone, but Mommy had to play too. Not easy when you're pregnant with twins.
It was then inside to see jelly fish and the touch pool. I touched a sea star so Adia was willing to touch it too. She then wanted to touch an anemone. She squealed when it's tentacles stuck to her finger. I think she mostly liked to play in the cold water. She said goodbye and waved when it was time to move to the next thing. She wasn't that interested in the jelly fish, which surprised us.
She did like the Oddwater exhibit. She went in the tunnel part with each of us and loved it.
She started to get a little cranky though. She was hungry and worn out. She had a full on meltdown, twice, in the gift shop so we knew it was time to leave. We headed down the the bay to get some lunch. It was tough to keep her occupied while we waited for our food because she was so hungry. I succeeded by balancing a spoon on my nose so then Adia wanted to do it too. She doesn't quite have the technique down, but it was cute anyway.
After eating we walked down to the candy shop. We bought some taffy and Adia got a purple sea star. Once we met up with DiDi and Gramma again, we walked across the street to see some more seals and sea lions in person. Adia thought they were awesome, especially all the barking they were doing.
On the way back to Florence, we stopped at Heceta Head. Daddy was asleep in the front seat and Adia was pretty out of it too. She immediately perked up when we parked though. She knew we were at the beach. We got there at the perfect time for sunset. Adia played on the beach, dug in the sand, drew with a stick and ran from the waves with Gramma and Daddy.
We were all wiped out when we got back to DiDi's house, except for Adia. She wanted to play. She watched her favorite Care Bear movie while Daddy did some more sleeping. DiDi got her to eat some food and then it was bath time. After Adia's bath, we headed back home. Adia didn't cry when we left. She gave DiDi hugs and kisses and was ready to go. She fell asleep nearly right away and I had no problems getting her in bed.
