Big Girl Bed

DiDi was here all weekend helping me get Adia's room ready for the switch from the unused toddler bed to a full size bed. It was not an easy task. We started with the closet first since we knew we had to fit more in there plus rearrange it so we can access the new baby stuff when we need it. It took us until very late Saturday night to finish the closet and then most of Sunday to rearrange furniture. It was tough to fit everything back into the room with a larger bed. We also discovered one of the cubes we were using to store blankets and sheets was growing mold! So gross. We had to throw out the cube and disenfect the entire corner.

We did get to have some fun with DiDi. We went to the mall Saturday afternoon. Adia played briefly and then we got Orange Julius. She acted like she didn't want any at first, but when I offered to let her hold mine, she took it and wouldn't give it back. She loves Orange Julius. DiDi also bought me some maternity shirts. My tops are quickly becoming too small and too short, but these t-shirts will be great for a few months, I hope. Now I need to go back and get a pair of jeans too.

Adia was really sad to see DiDi go. She even cried for her while sleeping this morning, but some mommy cuddles made it better. Adia actually slept until 9 this morning which is unheard of. She must have really been tired. Papa came to help with the bed part of Adia's room. We hopped in the car to go buy the mattress and it was pouring rain. Adia wanted to splash in puddles and she was smart enough to wear her rain boots.

The mattress buy didn't go as expected. We weren't entirely sure we needed a box spring so we had to come back and put the frame together. Adia threw a fit when Papa and Daddy started taking apart her toddler bed to make it into a full. We had to explain to her what we were doing. To keep her out of their hair, Adia and I went to the store and to pick up a pizza. Adia loved the pizza place because she could watch them make the pizza. Too bad she can't eat the pizza though. She narrated the whole pizza making process and eagerly got back in the car to go home. Papa and Daddy were finished when we got back and were working on trading our dryer back out. Adia rode on the handcart and then helped Papa move the dryer. She held the cord while she pushed the dryer across the living room.

We ate some food and then Daddy and I went to buy the mattress. It was delivered a hour later and Adia was jumping off the walls in excitement. She was so eager to try out her new bed that she was trying to jump on it before the box springs were even down. They got the mattress down and Adia immediately climbed on and started bouncing. We had the hardest time convincing her we needed to put on a mattress pad, sheets and blankets. Once it was all set up, Adia started bouncing again. She wouldn't let us put any pillows on the bed because that was where she wanted to bounce. She then pretended to sleep.

Daddy and I went to a movie and left Adia with Papa. When we came home, Adia was happily watching Curious George. We said goodbye to Papa and got ready for bed. Adia and I read books, like we always do, but we were in her bed instead. Adia actually chose that bed over ours too. It took a little longer to have her fall asleep, but she did. She's now still asleep, snuggled with her "buddies" and a couple body pillows. I hope she doesn't fall out of bed.
