Sleep, Baby(ies), Sleep

or maybe it should be "Eat, Baby, Eat."

"Mine! Mine! Mine!"

I started a new, earlier bedtime routine tonight. I just read in Parenting magazine that in order to get babies to sleep through the night, they should go to bed at 6:30/7:30. There was no way were doing that. We were lucky if they'd be asleep by 9:30, Adia included. They would wake up several times a night, Adia included, and we'd all wake up seriously grumpy. So, tonight, the girls and I ate dinner at 5:30. The twins ate a ton. Mira had rice cereal, 1/2 an applesauce mixed with 1/2 a package of bananas and 1/3 package sweet potatoes. Leia ate about 1/2 the applesauce-banana mixture, a couple bites of rice cereal (she's not a fan) and a couple bites of sweet potato. She's better at opening her mouth for more, but she's still doing the tongue thrust a bit. Mira's great at keeping the food in, but she's horrible about opening her mouth enough to get another bite and then she gets ticked if you don't feed her fast enough. Adia was funny at dinner. She ate some of her spaghetti and meatballs, but mostly only wanted her carrots and fresh peas. Not her typical behavior.

After dinner, I set Mira in the jumperoo because Leia was crying. The jumperoo had it's usual effect. (There's a reason it's nicknamed the pooperoo.) Adia got in the tub and I bathed the twins. I didn't wash their hair, just a quick body clean and dunk. If they could sit better, it would be a bit easier. Then they went into pjs and I turned on the best lullaby cd ever, "Sleep, Baby, Sleep". I swear that cd has magical powers. Mira was rubbing her eyes like crazy and fell asleep after just a couple sucks on a bottle. Leia downed 8oz! She also pooped. I read books to Adia while Leia was eating. When we were done with library books, Adia peed in the potty and then laid down in the little bed she had made next to me. She was trying everything she could think of to stay awake, but I wasn't buying it. She finally hugged Berry tight, closed her eyes and was out in a matter of minutes. Leia soon followed and Mira woke up long enough to finish 5oz. I gave her her Zantac after she was already asleep. She drank it without trouble.

All three were in their bed before 8. I was shocked. It was too easy. I've washed all the bottles, cleaned up the kitchen and picked up the living room. I'm hoping they all sleep through the night, but I'm headed to bed shortly in case they don't. I hope it works like this every night, or at least most nights. Then we can work on naps for the twins.
