Little Sicky

I can't believe it's been 5 days since the last post. Luckily it's just because Adia's been keeping me busy and there have been no medical scares. Scott has been sick though and it seems that Adia has the cold too. Last night she came down with a fever. This morning when I took her temperature, it was at least 101. We got it down to 100.5 with Tylenol, but I think her head hurts. Now she's got a runny nose again and has been coughing and sneezing. Hopefully the fever will go away soon.

She can never be content to do one thing at a time and while battling a cold, another tooth broke through. She now has four teeth. Her two front bottoms (as you can see in almost every picture I take) and her lateral incisors. Her top front teeth are no where near coming through so she'll be able to sing "All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth" for Christmas.

Adia's doing really well with naps though. You can tell what time it is just by her actions. Between 10 and 11 every morning, she starts to get cranky. Then it's a bottle and a nap. Yesterday she slept for two hours! Then between 3 and 4, it starts all over again. If she doesn't get her afternoon nap, she won't sleep well. Most days it works like it's supposed to, but if we've been out running errands, all she wants to do it play when she comes home.

The biggest reason I haven't been able to write is Adia's new separation anxiety. She's very much Mommy's girl. When it comes to bedtime, only I will do. If I walk into the kitchen to make dinner (or lunch for that matter) she tries to follow. Everywhere I go, she has to go too. Sometimes she won't even go to Scott. She'll start crying "Mamama!"

On Thursday Adia got to spend time with Gamma G. Scott and I had dental cleanings at the same time and needed someone to watch Adia. Gamma G played with her in the waiting room. They did laps around the room and Adia got to play with a cup. The office ladies and other patients oohed and aahed over her. Of course she responded with smiles and her piranha face. She always has to show off those pearly whites. She was fine the whole time until she heard my voice. Then she tried to take off down the hallway in the direction she saw us leave. I was out just minutes later and was met with a pout. Scott always gets big smiles from her when he's been gone, but she starts crying when she seems me. I guess she's punishing me for leaving. Then we ran a bunch of errands and she passed out when we got back.

Adia and I also had a pajama day this week. It was really icky outside so I knew we wouldn't be going anywhere. We took a shower together and then changed into pjs. Made me wish Adia had more cute two piece pjs. She has a pair of gray thermals and then a short sleeved lady bug pair. I've been looking for more, but nothing nearly small enough.

DiDi arrived on Friday night. Adia was happy to see her and started following her all over the house. Adia hadn't had her afternoon nap though so she was in no mood to be asleep by 9. DiDi managed to get her to sleep eventually, but Adia was already feverish. I gave her Tylenol, but it was just hard for her to sleep. I was up again at 3am for more Tylenol and then she (amazingly) slept until 9:30. She was then especially clingy. She started whining and wouldn't let me eat anything. DiDi took her and got her to sleep for almost two hours. She woke with a big grin, but then started whining again. We ended up running a couple errands. Adia was happy to be out of the house, but it was easy to see she felt icky. She didn't want to ride in the cart and wasn't happy with DiDi carrying her, she only wanted me.

She missed her afternoon nap so it's going to be a long night. She did eat all her yogurt at dinner, but wasn't interested in her cheese or egg yolk. Then she had an especially long bath. She was having a blast with Scott so she didn't want to get out. Now she's taking a before bed nap on him. Tonight is going to be a long one. Maybe if she has Tylenol before bed it will make a difference.

DiDi will be back on Christmas Eve. I can't believe it's almost Adia's first Christmas. I remember thinking a year ago that I would have a 9 month old next Christmas and I hadn't even met her yet. So strange. My pregnancy was the longest 9 months of my life and these last 9 months have to have been the shortest.
