Back In Denver

We stayed with my grandparents for the remainder of the trip. Adia was a little upset that there were no dogs and no children, but soon developed a love for her baby doll and my grandpa. She'd follow him around the house and cry when he went outside without her. She soon discovered that every time we went outside there were bunnies all over the place. She started wanting to go outside just to look for bunnies.

One of the evenings we went to visit my Aunt Debbie. My cousins and their kids were there too. She had lots of fun playing with the 4.5 year old boy and 2 year old girl. We also saw an elk.

The next day we went for a walk with my grandparents around the pond. Adia enjoyed the geese, ducks, ducklings and, my favorite, prairie dogs. The prairie dogs confused her at first because she was looking for a dog and couldn't find one. She finally figured out what we were talking about when one started squawking at me for getting too close. For some reason, Adia didn't want to walk, but mostly wanted to be carried. She may be only 19lbs, but those 19lbs get heavy fast. She rode on my shoulders for a little while, I carried her and then she wanted grandpa to carry her. She snuggled up to him and loved every minute of it.

It was soon time to go home. I was not looking forward to the plane ride after our last experience. We were well supplied this time though with sour patch kids, jelly bellies and cereal. We got to the airport, made it easily through security and was stuck waiting at the gate while our plane was delayed over a hour. Adia was really good on the flight. We only had a couple outbursts, but DiDi and I were just waiting for the screaming to start. She really enjoyed looking out the window. When we flew close to Mt. Hood she said, "Oh Wow!" Once we landed, Adia looked out the window at the airport and asked, "Are we home?" Our jaws dropped. I guess she knew what we were doing.

She wanted to run wild when we got off the plane and wasn't happy to be back in the carseat, but she ended up falling asleep. She woke up just as we got home. She was confused by Scott, but was happy to see him in the morning.
