Haircuts, Daytrips and New Additions

Adia was begging to get her haircut so I took her last week. When we got there she said she wanted it super short, like pixie cut short. I knew if we did that, she wouldn't be happy about it so we settled for an a-line cut. It's so super cute! I love it and so does she. She's been brushing her hair everyday and let me put barrettes in it.

We also rearranged the twins' bedroom. The beds are in an L shape now and they love it. They've actually been sleeping better.

On Friday, we went to Corvallis to visit Auntie Colie. We ate lunch, went to the park and had gelato.

I've also been thinking about getting a dog so Colie mentioned an animal shelter nearby. We took the girls in to visit the dogs and one in particular stuck out. He was calm, came up to meet the girls, but didn't bark or jump up. He was cautious, but sweet. I just knew we had to have him so we adopted him. He's a 3 year old male chihuahua terrier mix.

At the shelter, his name was Goliath, but it just didn't fit him. Daddy thought of Cheeto bandito when we saw him because he was wearing a bandanna. The name stuck so he's now known as Cheeto. He's been a sweetheart with the girls and is very well behaved on walks and generally doesn't try to steal food from the girls.

However, the first thing he did when he came home was poop in the house. I spent the first 24 hours continually cleaning up messes despite walks and going out back often. It was really frustrating and I really worried I'd made a huge mistake. Luckily, yesterday he didn't have a single accident. He's very willing to please so when you tell him no, he learns. He did start today by spraying the laundry basket though. That was a bit frustrating. I read that it's normal for shelter dogs to have that problem in the beginning though. He was so good yesterday that he slept between Scott and I in bed last night. He's such a love bug.

We took him for a check up at the vet on Sunday too. He got a clean bill of health except for his teeth. His teeth look awful. They're covered in tartar, but luckily his gums are diseased yet. I wasn't too surprised though considering his breath is pretty bad. The vet said it's really common in small dogs, especially chihuahuas. He goes in on the 5th for a dental cleaning. I also bought greenies, nylabones and a toothbrush with toothpaste. That should be interesting. Rascal never liked her teeth cleaned either.
