7 months and Valentine’s Day

I can’t believe the twins are already 7 months old! Leia just got her first teeth the day before Valentine’s day. Mira’s almost crawling (she can go backwards) and if they’d only sleep through the night. Between horrible congestion and teething, I swear they never sleep.

Daddy and I decided we’d like to have a date with Adia for Valentine’s day. Adia was super excited when we asked her about it. She spent the night before at DiDi’s house. That morning I went to the store and bought her a big bouquet and some balloons. We then went to DiDi’s to give them to her. Adia’s face lit up. She loves balloons and flowers. I told Daddy that I don’t need flowers, but Adia most certainly does. Just seeing her face light up makes me feel so wonderful.

Adia wanted to eat lunch at Red Robin. She was wonderful. She even snuggled up against me and said, “Mommy, I love going on a date with you.” I absolutely adore her. I miss having me sweet Adia all the time, but at least she reappears when it’s just us (and Daddy). After Red Robin, she asked to go to the mall. She played for quite a while, but begged to see a movie. We wanted to take her, but there weren’t any kid’s movies playing. We did promise to take her next month though when How to Train Your Dragon comes out. I can’t wait to see that. Adia did get some new shoes though. She now has a pair of tennis shoes with Dora on them and a pair of sneakers with Buzz Lightyear.

We had ice cream before going back home. She was getting tired and actually asked to go home to DiDi and her sisters. Daddy was tired too so he went to bed, but DiDi, the girls and I went to Costco. The twins rode in the cart together. Mira loved it, but in typical Leia fashion, she wasn’t so sure about the whole thing.

Adia told me she had a wonderful day and I was so glad. I went home and made dinner: steaks, tater tots, cauliflower and salad. We had chocolate cake with strawberries for dessert. Adia didn’t eat much, but all the girls went to bed pretty early. Too bad they didn’t stay asleep. Mira woke up around 11 and was screaming. Daddy took her, but she didn’t sleep well all night long. Leia woke up screaming around 1. I grabbed a bottle and brought her back to bed with me, hoping I could get her calmed down and asleep quickly. Wrong! I had just gotten her calm and Adia started coughing. I had a feeling she was going to puke. I offered her water, but she was still too asleep. She coughed more and more and then blech. She puked all over the bed, herself and the pillow. Can we say that chocolate cake is not fun to clean up the second time around? I had to set Leia down to carry Adia to the bathroom, which made Leia started screaming again. Adia was crying at that point too. I cleaned her up and she helped me change the sheets (thank you DiDi for teaching her such a valuable skill). I was holding Leia at the time. Adia went right back to sleep, thankfully, but Leia took some effort.

I didn’t sleep well the rest of the night because I kept waiting for Adia to start coughing again or pee the bed. We were up at 7 and Daddy had a dentist appointment at 8:20. Just as he was leaving the house, Adia decided he couldn’t leave without her. She ended up going in her pjs, but was a perfect angel. She sat in the corner and drew me a picture while Daddy got a cavity filled. They were all amazed at how good she was. DiDi had her teeth cleaned a few hours later and they were still talking about how good Adia was.

After Daddy’s appointment, I took Adia to the eye doctor. The eye doctor was impressed with how much of a difference her glasses are making. We also got them tightened and adjusted. Adia doesn’t have to go back until June when she’ll get another annual exam. I also scheduled the twins for their first eye exams next month. That’s going to be interesting.

After coming back from the eye doctor, the new car seats arrived. Daddy supervised the girls while I took out the old infant seats and installed the new seats. I also cleaned out all the stuff that was in the van. I’m still shocked at the sheer amount of stuff that’s been in there. I’ll have to take pictures of the girls in their new seats tomorrow. Adia’s now in a Britax Frontier and the twins are in Britax Marathons, rear-facing of course. I was amazed at how well the marathons fit next to each other. We were a little worried that they’d be too wide.
