Absolute Chaos

Maybe semi organized chaos would be a better word for what our house is like now. Daddy goes back to work tomorrow and today was sort of a trial day for me. He left me in bed with all three girls this morning. I managed to get them all fed and the twins went back to sleep. All was fine until I wanted to take a shower. I'm not sure how that's going to work in the future unless I can get Adia to shower with me. I called DiDi and she watched the girls while I showered. Then we all headed down to her house for the rest of the day. It wasn't too bad having all three and I know I'm going to have them full time soon, but it can be a bit overwhelming. I only have 2 hands and it's crazy when both babies start screaming at the same time. Adia's at least understanding when it comes to them and helps by bringing diapers and holding bottles. Yesterday she even stuck her finger in Mira's mouth to get her to stop crying. She's seen me do it a million times because it gives Mira something to suck on since her pacifiers often disappear. Adia then attempted to use the pacifer, but Mira wouldn't keep it in so the finger went back in. All Daddy could say was, "Her hands are super dirty!" I just shook my head. At least she'll develop a good immune system, right?

It's been super hot here lately, like 100+ degrees. Not your typical summer weather and our place gets entirely too warm. Adia's spent a lot of time playing with water and trying to stay cool. She experienced her first water fun fight, water balloons and run through a sprinkler this last week. She's completely obsessed with water, which was no surprise. She loved running through the sprinkler with her new little friend and thinks shooting Daddy with the water gun is the best thing ever.

In order to really escape the high temps, we headed back to Gramma and Papa's house. Mira doesn't handle heat at all and we were really worried about staying up here. We nearly froze on the coast, but it certainly felt nice for a change. We went to dinner the first night we were there. Adia was happy to see Colie and Eck. She had been talking about them and asking if they'd be there.

Gramma bought Adia a blow up pool at the end of last summer and we hoped the weather would finally get warm enough for her to use it. It finally did while we were there and Adia loved it. The water coming out of the hose was ice cold, but she didn't mind one bit. She played in it for ages and only decided it was time to come in when she got a face full, or more like nose full, of water. She really liked the slide and kept trying to go down face first.

The next day we took her to the lake. It's the same lake that I swam in as a child. I used to go there every day in the summer and even during the rest of the year. I remember DiDi sitting on the beach, bundled up, umbrella over her head and writing letters while my friend and I swam. It would be freezing cold, but we wouldn't care. Adia felt differently. I thought she'd want to swim, but she told Daddy and Eck that it was too cold. Daddy did get her to walk in the water up to her waist, but she wasn't about to attempt swimming.

We've still been swimming once a week at the pool. I still can't swim and neither can the twins, but Adia can. She's actually been swimming in the deep water. Tonight she was even chasing Daddy around the pool. I just get to sit and watch. I hold one baby while the other sits in a boppy next to me. Normally, they sleep through the whole thing and only wake up just as we're getting ready to leave. Tonight, they were wide awake the entire time.

After we swim, we usually go to Red Robin. Adia keeps falling asleep there, sometimes before she even eats. She did that tonight and I felt bad. At least she had a bunch of snacks in the car before we got there.

The sleep deprivation seems to be rubbing off on everyone. Not only does Adia fall asleep in restaurants and in my lap on the couch, but she's fallen asleep at the grocery store twice now. She'll ask for a blanket because she's cold and she's soon out. The last time she fell asleep like that, she slept through shopping, check out, returning to the car, coming home and being laid down in DiDi's living room. I feel so bad that she's not getting enough sleep. She doesn't want to miss anything so it's really hard to get her in bed at a reasonable time and then a baby will wake her up too early in the morning. I can sometimes get her to nap, but that doesn't always happen either. You can always tell which days she's had enough sleep because she's the Adia I know and love, not the little demon child who throws temper tantrums over every little thing.

Daddy and I took Adia to Costco, just the three of us. She begged for ice cream so we got her some. She ended up only eating a few bites of it and wanted to feed Daddy. She was so happy and silly, it was nice to have some time together.

To my surprise, Adia actually ate spaghetti last week and last night. I used to never be able to get her to even try it. I would buy all the different shaped rice pastas I could find and they'd never even come close to her mouth. This time I used regular rice spaghetti and she loved it. She even tried twirling the pasta around her fork, but didn't have any luck getting it to her mouth. I think she liked it because the pasta looked like worms and was covered in parmesan.

The twins continue to get bigger and bigger. They both eat like crazy, but Mira likes to spit it back up, or in Daddy's case, projectile vomit it back up. Last night I was trying to get Adia to sleep when I heard, "little help please" from the living room. I go out there to find a vomit covered Mira and Daddy. It was everywhere. I took Mira, stripped her down and gave her a bath in the sink. It wasn't the best bath and she still stunk a little, but at least she wasn't covered anymore. Daddy had never experienced that before or seen it happen, but I had. I'll never forget when Adia guzzled 8oz and promptly projectile vomited it all right back up on me. I had no one there to help me get cleaned up so we both hopped into the shower. It was horrible and I never used a fast flow nipple on her again or let her drink more than 6oz at a time.
