20 months old

I haven't been very good about taking pictures lately and we've mostly been recovering from being sick. Adia and I are still coughing and her nose is still running. She did get her flu shot on Friday though. I didn't want to risk her getting the flu and I've already had my shot. There were other kids in the waiting room when we got there and they were climbing on furniture and bouncing off the walls, literally. Adia's eyes got huge and gave me a look like, "Are they crazy?!" She ended up watching the fish tank so she could avoid the other kids.

Luckily, we got called back almost immediately. As soon as Adia saw the nurse, she stopped dead in her tracks and started saying, "No, no, no!" I think she knew that was about to happen. She threw a fit when I tried to get her on the table and pull down her jeans a bit. We finally managed it and I wrapped her in a huge hug. Her eyes were huge. She knew what was about to happen. When the nurse stuck the needle in, Adia said, "Owwie! Ow! Ow! Ow!" and then started crying, big tears streaming down her face. Once We had her pants back up and I was holding her, she stopped making noise, but there were still tears. That changed when she realized her nose was running. She hates snot on her face. She said, "Nose?" and grabbed her face. The nurse was nice enough to hand me a tissue and Adia was quickly bad to herself. She got a sticker, which she destroyed in the car, but also didn't want to leave. She just wanted to play in the waiting room since the other kids were now gone. The only way I could convince her to leave was to promise some playtime at the mall.

She had a great time at the mall, came home and promptly fell asleep. She woke up around the same time as Daddy. She jumped up when she saw him and followed him into the bathroom. You would never have been able to guess she had a shot, except that she was still spotin' the bandaid. She was super silly and wanted to "wash hands."

The rest of the day was pretty laid back. We had dinner, bath time and she went to bed pretty early. She was up bright and early on Saturday though and was not happy to not have Daddy. He had some weird hours thanks to the football game. We got ready for the day and headed to the mall. She played hard and wasn't intimidated by all the kids at the mall. I always forget that Saturday is a horrible mall day. We stopped by Old Navy for more pants for Adia and even went to the bookstore. Adia picked out an Elmo Moon book. She's totally into all things moon right now. She looks for it every time we walk outside too. I was hoping she'd stay asleep in the car, but of course, all the times getting her in and out of the car made that impossible. Then add that the sky decided to dump made it even harder to keep her asleep. She weathered it like a true Oregonian though. She loves the rain. When she saw it was raining, she started yelling, "it rainin!" and "It's wet."

We had lunch when we got home and I never managed to get to back to napping. She was super happy to see Daddy when we went to pick him up though. Too bad he had to go right to bed and had no time to play. We had an evening of just the two of us. Adia was happy to have french toast for dinner and stayed in the bath tub for 30 minutes. I got her to bed relatively early and she was still asleep when DiDi arrived. She woke up when we both went to bed though. She gave DiDi the longest hug when she realized she was here. She didn't want to go back to bed, but exhaustion finally caught her.

Adia woke up looking for DiDi. She was more than happy to spend the morning with DiDi so I could sleep in. After I got up, we went back to Verizon to exchange Daddy's phone. He only had it 6 days before the phone went bonkers and broke. We easily exchanged it once the guy turned it on and noticed that the screen had a serious problem. We then went over to Oakway to buy Adia more pants, get lunch and some ice cream. We ate at Chapala. Adia loved her chicken quesadilla and rice. She was even happier when we got ice cream. She picked pumpkin. I think it was the first time Adia devoured a flavor she chose. Adia didn't want to leave the fountain to check out Old Navy, but DiDi finally persuaded her. DiDi bought Adia some more pants, this time in the size smaller than the ones I bought the day before. I bought Adia 18-24 months, thinking they would fit. Wrong! DiDi had to roll up the waist band so Adia wasn't constantly tripping over them and they were falling down. DiDi grabbed the same fleece pants in 12-18 months and they look like they'll fit much better. Adia was happy to pick out new clothes, but also fancied a purple hippo. I bought her the purple hippo, which she now calls "Purple." He's another critter to add to the bed. Last night we slept with Elmo, Cookie Monster, Baby and Purple. It was a little crowded.

Adia still wanted to play so we headed to the mall. Sunday was just as crazy as Saturday and we had trouble finding a parking place. She loves riding in DiDi's stroller and made sure to bring Purple with her. She played for a long time, managing not to get injured. Then she rode the ice cream truck, followed by the escalator with DiDi. We stopped at the pet store. Adia wanted a cat, but wasn't interested in the Pugle, even though it was interested in her. On our way passed the candy store, Adia had to hug her bear. DiDi wanted to buy her an M&M caramel apple, but they were sold out! On our way by the bookstore, Adia made a detour inside. She wouldn't let us leave without getting a book. She picked out a Thomas the Tank Engine book and also some Dr. Seuss books. DiDi's keeping them until Christmas though.

We came home and Adia was very very tired. She snuggled up with DiDi and all her required critters and fell asleep. She woke up while I was starting dinner and had a fit. She cried for the longest time and nothing would calm her. I hate nights like that. She was silly at dinner and took a bath, but it took forever to get her to bed. I ended up falling asleep too.

DiDi's at the dentist now. Adia wasn't happy when she left, even though we kept telling her she'd be back soon. Gamma and Papa are headed this way too. Adia's been asking for Papa since she saw his picture yesterday.
