Motor Mouth

Adia has been talking and squealing non-stop today. It's been crazy. Somedays she's almost silent, but today wasn't one of those days. When I was doing my 30 minutes walk, she was babbling the entire time. Maybe she was telling me all about her dreams last night or what the lights on the treadmill meant. Then, in the shower, she started saying "dadadada". It was so cute. She's been saying that and "bababa" and "lalala" the entire day. She's also been doing a weird squealing, screamy thing. It's really funny.

After our walk, we went to get movies and go to the store. At blockbuster she was extra silly. Because it was a quick stop I didn't put her in the bijorn. I was just holding her in my arms. She kept patting my back, grabbing my face and eventually I started tickling her tummy. She responded with lots of laughter. It's amazing how different babies can be overnight. One day, hardly laughing, the next day, she's a little giggle monster.

She was not happy to be in the car, but loved the grocery store. She kept babbling away and kicking her feet. She's such a goofball. She also reaches at stuff on the shelves or anything I might be holding. I didn't have a list today, but when I do, she grabs it and more often than not, eats it.

She fell asleep before dinner again and when it was ready, she was asleep in Scott's arms on the couch. When he tried to come to the table, she woke up. We put her in the high chair and she was NOT happy about it. She just wanted out and started whining about it.

So DONE with the high chair

Before her bath, tonight, I was eating some ice cream, and as usual, she was watching intently. I gave her a tiny bite and she looked at me like I was nuts while using her tongue to spit it out. I tried again with another small bite. This time she wasn't so quick with her tongue, but some came out again. I told her, "Last bite," and stuck it in her mouth. She hardly let any out that time and as Scott was walking out of the kitchen it sounded like Adia said, "Thank you." It was so sweet. She also opened her mouth each time she saw the spoon coming towards her. She hasn't done that before, so maybe solids really are in her future.

Adia was funny in her bath. She ended up floating on her back with her head on my crossed legs and her feet against the side of the tub. She started pushing off and splashing with a huge smile on her face. I was waiting for the laughter to begin, but she splashed water in her own face before that happened. Then all she wanted was to get out. We also played with stacking cups, but she wouldn't grab at them. I had them lined up on the edge of the tub and she kept batting at them. She ended up shooting 3 of them to the other side of the bathroom.

When Scott got her out and was drying her on the counter, I said, "Hi Adia." She looked right at me and responded with a smile and "Hi!" Her hi sounded exactly like mine. It was shocking. If Scott hadn't been right there I might never have believed she'd said it.

After her bath we did our usual cuddle and bottle. She had finished her 4oz and looked like she was asleep, so I picked her up to lay her in her crib. There was no problem until I started to lay her down and bonked the mirror that hangs on the side of her crib. It rattles, so of course it woke her up. Luckily she didn't wake up crying, but with a smile. I had to take her back to the living room and feed her another ounce before she was finally asleep again. Now she's back in her crib, sleeping soundly. I hope she stays the right temperature tonight. That way she'll actually sleep straight through the night again.
